She wasn't the only reason the manga stopped being shit, she was just the delivery mechanism for it. It tossed out the retarded generic premise and made it clear that it wasn't taking itself super seriously.

The only issue with saving Togata is that there's no way to actually save her without Agni finding out that he can be saved.

Not to mention she herself would probably rather die than have Agni stop burning.

Between this and the fact that the believers accusing Togata still hasn't been resolved, Togata dying is the thing that makes the most sense in terms of plot convenience.

It would basically ruin the story though since she's the only interesting character in the manga that isn't dead.

The author might split the difference and have the Witch show up and kidnap her as as well. Either that or some surprise development reveals that Togata's more than just a regeneration gifted.
