Sub; no one could possibly match Mitsuha's dialect, and the jokes and songs don't work as well.

I do wish Funimation had bothered to put lyrics for all the songs though.

Took a friend to see it for my second viewing. He was skeptical becausw he read a synopsis that made it sound boring. He left amazed by the amount of "this is where it ends, right?" moments. I felt the emotions more intensely because I was letting myself get more into the characters. Now I feel empty knowing that Taki and Mitsuha's chapter is closed. Even happy endings leave me sad.

I went to see this for the second time at Yonge & Dundas and it had to be the worst audience for a anime movie I've ever seen. Clapping at the start of the movie, howling laughter at almost every scene that had any humor, people going "aww" aloud when Mitsuha opens her palm, people clapping at the end of the movie.

The first time I saw this at the TIFF, the entire audience was completely silent until the end. Learn some self-restraint, you manchildren.
