Nah you can find older stuff that's that either never got a bluray release or the one it did never got ripped or is only available raw, with no DVD ISOs pretty frequently. That sort of thing is always going to cost you ratio, sometimes a good bit.

I just have to accept there are some shows and movies I will never see, especially since I'm a latecomer to anime (around 2009) cause I was a poorfag growing up and had no fancy Toonami or internet then.

Even worse I would take year long breaks from watching any anime for some reason, but same with playing any games or watching movies, dont know why.

Making a (minor) positive contribution is as simple as demuxing a DVD rip release and retiming the subs for a raw Bluray which won't take much work in most cases. It needn't cost anything.

The problem is that I want to seed with my VPS, but the files I downloaded in the past are not there, so I'd have to upload them there, with my home connection, which sucks. What also doesn't help is that the stuff I used before to increase my ratio is now well seeded (GitS stuff). I downloaded the first movie to the server in 10 minutes and it's not seeding at all.

I also can't use the same torrent at the VPS and in my local PC to seed to the VPS since that's cheating I think.

Don't fall for the SHAFT meme though-- their productions aren't typically worth 1080p. As nice as Monogatari looks, it's not worth 1080p-- not enough fine detail to be worth it. Madoka doesn't really need it but there's definitely some fine detail to be found in a 1080p encode.
