Do you get annoyed if it isn't explained why a yandere obsesses over someone? Or do you feel that that isn't the point and thus shouldn't be emphasized?

We had a lot of yandere threads lately.
>Do you get annoyed if it isn't explained why a yandere obsesses over someone?
I don't, but I'd prefer it it gets explained
Explaination of a character's reasonings should always be emphasized
A character's trope shouldn't be its only appeal
The explanation is the hardest part of writing a yandere desu. A good explanation is nice, but sometimes it might be best just to leave it out, because a halfhearted one is worse than no explanation. Love isn't really logical, so it makes sense even if the obsession is almost baseless.
Yan a shit.

obsessive > possessive

What would be a good explanation for yandere behavior?

The problem is logically for a person to be obsessed over they have to be desirable, but yanderes as a fetish are geered towards undesirable people. Thus its often left unexplained why the yandere is obsessive, otherwise suspension of belief would be impossible.

Yandere is probably the stupidest anime invention. If you look at real obsessives, their target is almost always someone who is higher status, typically a celebrity or person of public renown. It is never for the harem lead type, it's for people who are already extraordinarily desirable or famous.
This is because the point of obsessive and delusional love is to affirm self-worth by imagining ownership of someone valuable.

The MC reminds the yandere of someone she lost. Like a brother or something?

This, it's good to give a reason to fill a necessary gap, but there is no logical explanation because the behavior is inherently illogical.
