Rivals were trash. GBF built up almost all the rival characters throughout the series, by introducing them early and showing them off in their own matches. The point-based qualifiers worked well for this, allowing all of them to team up or be against each other without anyone dropping out of the main tournament.

Compared to Try, where it was a straight single elimination tournament with rivals introduced either the episode before, or not having any proper build up. This is on top of the fights boiling down to non-team based 1v1s despite the team-based battles, particles suddenly being a limiting factor in fights, and everything about Sekai.

It needed more doujins

3-on-3 was a good idea if it didn't devolved into a regular 1v1. It's like the fight choreography was like "Oh shit, Try Fighters are in a pinch. Hell yeah, they got out of it now it's time for Sekai to strut his 'Chicken, how are you?' schtick!". This is so obvious during the Denial VS Build Burning or snap-built Destiny VS Try Burning.

The finale battle of the first half and Tryon 3 shows the potential of a 3-on-3: getting ganged-up and taking on multiple opponents all at the same time.

Fumina went from being a "could be interesting" character to less then nothing at breakneck pace.

The bespectacled cunt is so boring that his "rivalry" with mineta is the only interesting about him and he doesn't even take it seriously.


The lead gets a h4x broken super mech at the beginning and never not once gets any better as a "gunpla" user. He just yels jiggen howl louder and punches more. No, I'm not kidding. That's what happens.

The 3vs1 thing is never fully exploited and is just a shit way of having more gunpla toys on screen/get into that naruto market .
They had all of this fucking real estate. They could have had team battles where they had to use tactics and replay old gundam battles from old as the good guys or bad guys or had team sports titles or one on one battles.
Stuff like that.
NOPE 3vs3 stuff and nothing more.

The particle thing was just bullshit deus ex machina crap to let certain players win or lose depending on plot. It was garbage that just ruined so much potential.

I'm not going to go into how the whole magical newtype assimilation state that sekai has that just raises all sorts of fucking ethical questions about this game and the common sense of everyone in the series.

The lead character had LESS of a reason to win then anyone else and they actually come off as being litterally no better then the bad guys 99% of the time. Worse because a lot of times the come off as being hypocritical as fuck.

Half of the rivals introduced in the first half of the series had more potential as the leads then the lead three.

Did I mention Lady Kawaguchi?

If the blonde fuckmeat and the thick girl with a clit boner for zekes wasn't inspiring decent fappables I would consider the entire thing a complete failure.

Gyanko showed up and fell in love with the MC over the stupidest crap, and her every appearance after that was just to continue the forced love triangle that nobody liked. Tere were plenty of other problems, but that one took up a ton of time in the show that could have been better spent fleshing out other areas, nobody liked it, and basically turned what could have been an interesting character and reference to the first season into a walking romcom cliche that existed solely to stir up uninteresting drama and waste time.

The fact that at the end of the season she seems to have moved on from her crush only to have it back in full force in the OVA was awful as well.

There's no fucking way he would have got anywhere if he had to rely on two battery pack allies and everyone knew it. They'd get sniped down like the latter part of his battle, but at the start.

That said, it felt more like the writers needed him to lose for the plot, so they just made a really shitty plan and called it a day.

See, I was hoping for Lucas to be too into trying to win alone, in a warped sense of what Aila told him in season one.
He would try too hard to "earn a trophy by playing gunpla himself", when he should have been working with his team.
He could end up damaging Crossbone from trying too hard to carry his teammates instead of trusting them as actual allies.
Then with some actual fucking teamwork, they could trade off two for two, leaving it to the showdown with just Wilfred and Lucas. They could even have a mutual KO or something.
And then you can have Shia finish repairing her suit at the last moment to win the match by default.

Honestly, I just hated Team Celestial Sphere though.

She showed up in the end to oneshot one of the battery pack allies, and to fly around so Celestial Sphere 3-0's Nemesis and acts like he was a big deal.

Seriously, the way Lucas was portrayed, Celestial Sphere mentioning how "strong" Lucas supposedly was after the match made no sense. They just beat him 3-0 after discovering his "mysterious strategy" halfway throughout the match. Even if he had better allies, it wouldn't have made a difference because their suits would still be shitty battery packs that aren't actually allowed to do anything.

So, what's your dream Build Fighters episode? Here's mine:

Ral gets a booty call from Sei's mom to meet her at the World Tournament Arena. He gets there, turns out it was the PPSE Chairman and Codename C using a voice modifier. All of the Gunpla Mafia is there too. They've stolen all of his Gouf models and they tell him he has to follow all their instructions and whatever happens to him he has to act like he enjoys it. If he doesn't, they will break all of his Goufs and boot Sei and Reiji from the Tournament.

So the next day, Ral walks into a room wearing diapers and a pacifier, acting like a retarded baby. All of the Gunpla mafia is there and they give him the hardest, most brutal gangrape in history. As instructed, Ral acts like he completely enjoys it and asks for more.

Then in walks that guy Tatsuzo from episode 7. Turns out he joined the Gunpla Mafia for revenge. He's been eating a special protein-only diet for weeks just for this. He pulls down his pants and partially defecates the longest, thickest, hardest log ever, and proceeds to use it to give Ral the most furious ass-to-ass action ever recorded. Ral can't hold his tears anymore, but pretends they're from pleasure. It's finally over.

Then the Chairman reveals the room they're in is actually see through from the outside, and they're in the tournament arena. All of the audience has been watching Ral get gangbanged and enjoy it, and it's been broadcasted worldwide. They finally kick him out of the premises, and break all of his models anyway

Later, Ral runs into Sei's mom, who tells him she didn't know he was such a fag. Her husband walks in and proceeds to have passionate sex with her in front of Ral, and after he finishes, pees all over him, much to her delight

After the ending credits, Ral is wandering off on a road in the middle of nowhere. A speeding car runs him over and breaks his spine, but it's non lethal. He is left laying there in extreme pain for days, and finally dies of hunger
