Control would be a better term IMO
Pilot is something to use for aerial/naval vessels. For a robot control is better.

Specifically, the word 'pilot' originally means controlling a rudder or similar, so if a device or vessel uses any other form of steering, 'pilot' isn't really accurate.

This means it isn't really accurate for all aircraft either, but it is to many, so the term stuck.
