>trapped by self-pity
>sits at home doing nothing
>content with hating yourself

Self-pity is the most teenage-drama thing there is. It's just embarrassing, and not pityable for anyone else. Stop. tfw I used to think this anime was pretty relateble, the Heaven Island arc most of all, but really, find something you want to live for, and put all your effort into that. Ignore how you feel about yourself and work hard at what you want to achieve.

>inb4 "I dont want to do anything"
then you should kill yourself. Literally. I had just about given up and then I figured if I was going to kill myself, I might as well give my dream a shot. I'm halfway there now, and I'm not about to give up.
>>
Certainly not NHK and I have been living the neet life for the last 4 years.

I can't relate to Satou because:
1. He acts like a fucking retarded in literally every possible way. I'm not mentally handicapped just because I don't have a job.
2. He pities himself and feels completely miserable with his situation. Although I don't think that living that way is the ultimate goal of life, I really can't relate to his 2. He pities himself and feels completely miserable with his situation. Although I don't think that living that way is the ultimate way of life, I really can't relate to his depression and lack of self confidence.
>>

You can't just tell a depressed anon to suddenly have motivation, anon.
>>
>>155698759
>"I dont want to do anything"
What do you mean by anything though? By definition, just watching anime, playing vidya, fapping or doing whatever hedonistic pleasure you are already doing something.

>en you should kill yourself.
Why should he kill himself though?
>>
>>155698759
Yeah, but all of those points only apply to Sato. I identify more with Yamazaki.
And I did not like the fillers.
>>
>>155698937
It's just the old generic motivational speech of ''just do it like me or like I think you should''. I'm not even depressed, but I always laugh at these people trying to give advice about depression without having any idea what they are talking about.

Welcome to the NHK is not supposed to be a NEET documentary, it's a show that uses NEETdom as the setting to present tragicomedy mostly through secondary characters.
It's a really great anime but the people who don't like it because it isn't realistic are missing the point completely.
>>
Rozen Maiden, because I, too, freak the fuck out when I have to go outside and confront Real People and would probably have an easier time dealing with murderous supernatural dolls.

The writer was a neet and I'm pretty sure that Satou ''overcoming'' his problem is one of the core aspects of the show.

Hello everyone. I’m Tatsuhiko Takimoto.

Now I release Misaki evocation meditation English version.

Misaki Nakahara is a character of “Welcome to the NHK” that I wrote. Someday I recognized that many person who live in the whole world are still waiting and wanting that the day Misaki coming in the person’s home. So I decided to make this guided meditation to evoke Misaki for every person who love Misaki. I hope that this meditation make some good for your life.

This guided meditation was spoken by Amina du jean. She is a American person, doing idol activity in Japan. She also corrected and edited this English meditation script that I made from Japanese transcript.

BGM is “Temple Gardens” from www.orindaben.com.

I'm quite the sophisticated and intelligent teenager myself. I am athletic and have an edge to my look. Very popular with the ladies and the guys, although make no mistake I have no time for them, since I am expected to and know I will succeed in every ounce of life. I find that my philosophy is also mirrored with Light; scumbags of society, of which lets be honest now - many of you are, should be killed. This is the most efficient way to make the world a better place, and only I know how to do that, since, well, I am by all means more intelligent than most of the human waste alive. Did I mention I am very handsome? You see, I would include ugly people in the waste list as well. We tidy our rooms, work-spaces and we like pretty things, like scenery, flowers and clothes, why should it be any different for the people?

Hokuto no Ken

It teaches that violence will not be able to change people; it is only able to stop them. The thing that can change the world for the better is the love that people have for each other and the willingness to apologize and forgive. Life is not meaningless and a nihilistic life is not the way to live. Murder, cruel bloodshed, and meaningless deaths, none of the heroes are ever proud or happy when any of these things happen.

The only people who are ever happy about violence are the people who have thrown away their humanity to become beasts, which Kenshiro and co swiftly deal with. Fighting itself, though necessary in this world, is not the way to live. The only reason the world is saved is because the most powerful man in the world gave up violence and surrendered himself to love. And, with his love, the world became healed. The theme of love resounds throughout the entire story of Hokuto no Ken. The muscles, the magic kung-fu, and the ridiculous gore, they're all just a cover for something more beautiful: a love story.

Hokuto no Ken is a love story, and it, love, is the most powerful thing in the world.

It will make you feel better and will get you in the habit of feeling good when you do something good for yourself

After you go running you might feel more productive, for example, and you might want to get chores done, or study when you were procrastinating before.

Why you should do that are several reasons to improve your life. However talking yourself into it probably wont work because you probably talk yourself out of everything.

Just go fucking run god damn it

I've listened to that. Way to miss the point, author.
Bulgarian anons probably know the word "nevolya", from a certail tale. Two brothers are in a forest, their cart breaks down, and they call for Nevolya, since their their dad had told them a while ago that it would fix everything. The sun starts setting; they continue calling for Nevolya, but eventually, they start mending the cart by themselves.
They eventually return home, and tell the dad that Nevolya never came, and that they had to fix the cart by themselves.
The moral of the story is that if you need to fix something, you'll fucking find a way to do it. "Nevolya" means exactly that.

Now, picture the author saying that here's an actual character called Nevolya, and it can mend everything. It fucking ruins the moral of the original story.

Captain of the space pirate ship Arcadia, approximately twenty-eight years of age. Harlock feels disillusioned with the earth and his people, and has left to seek his destiny in the Sea of Stars (what we less bombastic folks call "space"). He has not forsaken his home, nor completely lost hope in humanity, he merely seeks a higher standard. Those who choose to accompany him aboard the Arcadia are bound by no oath beyond the promise to fight for their own beliefs. His priorities lie in personal honor and duty to his conscience above any sense of prescribed duty to the State; an Objectivist or an Anarchist, depending on your point of view (though Harlock also has a healthy disdain for the indulgent rich and cares far too much for the welfare of others to really qualify as an Objectivist; indeed, in hoarding the food stolen form the earth government, he is essentially doing their job for them by safeguarding the future of earth's citizens). While an historical pirate fought only for personal wealth, Harlock's status as a pirate is earned by his defiance of the system.

This. It's the only show that found perfect balance in order to offer a truly cathartic experience with its understatedness, tact and care. Reki's nihilism clashing with Rakka's stained optimistic innocence with the setting reeking of hypocritical stoicism used as a background makes for one of the best finales I've ever experienced.

NHK was atrocious, I have no idea how people can relate to this anime. That show was never dark, the dark humour never really enlightened the psychological and social issues of being a NEET. Making fun of them while being hopelessly optimistic, sure, but as a NEET myself, I never found the mirror the show was supposed to make me look myself into.

Yojouhan Shinwa Takei (Tatami Galaxy) should be up your alley

Will there ever be a character as charismatic as Johan?
Reinhard, Conan and Akagi are the closest

I never found Johan to be a charismatic character at all, I always found him to be very artificial whenever he was directly or indirectly solicited. Maybe it comes from the fact that he felt underused coupled with the cheesy supernatural elements.
>>
>>155720231
The fact that he's shown so rarely actually adds to his charisma, not to mention his incredible beauty and soft voice.
In the end his methods of manipulation are actually quite simple, he just adds oil onto the fire.

Himizu. I think the ending really makes it better than most things.

I tried watching Welcome to NHK like three times, but I never could get far, I just can't relate to the main character, I mean I've been a neet for like 5 years now, but I have no idea how people like him.
>>
>>155720557
He works as a concept, but not as a great character. I didn't have any particular issues with him, but he could've been replaced with a talking stool and it would've been the same thing for me.
>>
>>155720762
Not him but I kinda agree, while Johan isn't a bad character either I don't think he's as good as Grimmer, Tenma or Lunge

Eva and Lunge are the best characters in the show, hands down.

I'm agree with you in what you say about haibane ranmei but not with nhk because you don't have to self insert in the show nhk shows you how people with several mental problems lives in other words you don't have to be like Satou or Misaki

>>155707022
Maybe the author should have taken his own advice.

I agree with this one. Probably one of the best depictions of despair in a manga.
>>

I never got into NHK because Satou acts really retarded at times
