So, does he think he's in a video game or what? He can't consider them real people, under that assumption his friends would think he's a monster.
Is he merely unfeeling/amoral due to being a skeleton, or is his Overlord racial alignment making him chaotic evil?
Because for a no life salary man he's kinda a loathsome piece of shit. I can see why all his friends bailed on him.

I feel like this is a neat series that goes off the deep end because the author can't control his fetishes or is at least relying on selling via them. So like most weabshit in retrospect.

His being an overlord and skeleton is changing him, yes. Automatic buffs apply to him when he experiences strong emotions.

However, I wouldn't say he's chaotic evil, considering he saved that village and so on.

I find the series satisfying because they take it from this angle: it's not your standard conflict plot with a baddie to defeat: it's instead the storyline of an evil overlord taking over the world and it's interesting as fuck.

He could cast some destructive shit on an empty spot right before everyone's eyes, but what will prevent them from thinking that this an illusion to scare them? Like, "why the Sorcerer king didn't targeted us with his spell?" or something like that.
Well, nobody can deny the 180'000 killed people. Demiurge probably made a long list of benefits of committing splat for Nazarick.
