In general, the pacing was all over the place and evidence of a director that didn't know how to handle the content or format. Watching SAC right now and the Laughing Man story is quite disappointing. The first few Complex episodes were suspenseful and intriguing, but once the focus shifts entirely to the Laughing Man case the anime plays its cards way too fast and just drags on forever. I just finished watching episode 23 and it added absolutely nothing of value. The Stand Alone episodes were amazing though, so this is welcome news.

What if Alita turns out good. Already the rew behind it inspires much more confidence than who was involved in the live action GITS. Rodriguez is a hit or miss director but at least he's had some hits under his belt unlike Sanders.

He also ( much like Neil Blomkamp) delivers his movies under budget so i think with Weta and Cameron behind him he could do something cool with Alita.
Jame Cameron is involved and again unlike the producers of the GITS movie has respect for the source material.

I liked SAC more because it was less philosophy/existentialism and more police work in the future, cyber detectives, and underlying government/corporate conspiracy that slowly unravels over the course of the show and Section 9's investigation and all their detective work leading up to a solid military op executed near perfectly, coupled with being post-Cyberpunk in genre but maintaining that core aesthetic.

I kind of enjoyed the Scarjo movie, I was scared they would just try to remake the same plotline but they went for their own shit instead, even if I do not agree with them revealing the origin of the Major, but at least it was a story it hadn't been told before.

What annoyed me was the fucking abuse of the sequences from the classical movie and SAC that were forcibly inserted to appear in the trailer that fucked the pace of the movie and came out of nowhere. As they went with their own original plot they should have gone for their own take on the planes and photography and the movie would have been way better.
