There's no age limit to getting Mangekyo as long as you have base Sharingan, you just have to see someone you care about die in front of you. If Sarada gets Mangekyo it'll have to be because an important character dies, and she'll eventually go blind if she overuses it, so it's not like it would be without a cost.

And anyway, there's no indication other than that piece of not-canon fanart that Boruto will obtain a chakra mode. Given his appearance in the future, the tattoo and eye are far more likely to be what he gets as power-ups.

That's not really true. Both Sasuke and Itachi eventually lost their sight from overuse. Kakashi was only able to use his a few times before it incapacitated him. The only exceptions were Madara who had EMS and Obito who probably didn't go blind because his body was made of Senju DNA.

I'm pretty sure the Uchiha tablet explains how to achieve Mangekyo. You might not even need base Sharingan to achieve it, since IIRC Sasuke read it as a child to confirm what Itachi had told him. So any Uchiha old enough to learn about the history of the clan should know how to achieve it.

And you're ignoring what I said about established precedent. Even if they never firmly said it must be two siblings, which I'm not certain of, changing that explanation now would only be to provide Sarada with an alternate means of achieving EMS. What were you expecting to happen? There aren't going to be any radical changes to the status quo as long as they still have to adapt the movie. This point in the series should all be about introducing characters and establishing relationships, which is what looks to be happening so far.

This is actually a golden opportunity. Naruto basically skipped over this portion and suffered for it later in the series when the relationships didn't feel as convincing as they should have.
