Jesus Christ, I wasn't expecting this to be so intense.

It's a 2 hour movie and it felt like I was only watching it for 20 minutes. A really surprisingly great end to a saga known as UC which I thought wasn't all that great most of the time.

To be fair there are other anime creators that also fit the descriptions and are good but in comparison with Tomino everything they do feels kind of bland. He just has a sort of raw power.

In fact Anno had a metaphor for it. There was one interview where he complained that Porco Rosso. That is was, as /tv/ would say, "dishonest". That it was a movie that was very personal for Miyazaki and he tried to be honest but, as Anno put it "would not take of his pants". In comparison Tomino "went naked".

I guess that is the kind of feeling I like about him too. He is not trying to hide behind anything.
