Not my kind of show, I hated Jigoku Shoujo as well
>>
Can I watch this without the first season? I don't have time to catch up on 100 episodes right now.
>>
>>155401203
I'm just gonna check out the first ep and see if I can stomach this. Probably gonna drop it though. Saw it on an anons watch list so I'm gonna give it a shot though.

Season 2 was great.

Oh is this that kind of show?

Rage of the week 'people fuck each other up' episodic kind of deal?
>>
>>155401203
I doubt that Crunchy would pick up a series where you have to see some obscure (in the west at least) anime made in the 80's. This is probably like Osomatsu San
>>
>>155401391
It's more like a what goes around comes around kind of thing with the salesman being the one who offers shitty deals
Obviously this is more light hearted but you will find a lot of similarities

It was fucking incredible. Easily picked up.

It's going to be one of those "the only English-speaking fanbase is confined to one thread every week" kind of shows, though. Not that I mind.
>>
That was a pretty nice OP.
>>
>>155401391
Think doraemon if he was an evil prankster
basically this

>chick loves shopping
>give her a spcial magic card that she can buy anything with
>next day shit she bought is returned
>go to a beauty salon with the card
>wakes up as a 90 year old uggo landwhale

it's basically gonna be that for however many episodes
>>
Reminder that Bloat is subbing this show as well,, and faster than HS can rip it, so you don't have to deal with CR's shitty subs for once.
>>
Oh shit. It's not a short.
>>
This was great. Holy shit.
I heard that there's a previous season before this one. Is it worth watching?
>>
>>155401912

I need something to watch this season, so I will just pick this up.

I just thought of something about this episode. The rule is that whatever you buy has to be given back, right? So what happens if you treat others to gifts? Like, say for example you buy a Ferrari and exchange it to pay off all your debts. Or buy someone an expensive mean, while paying your own meal with your own money. Would that apply?
>>
>No, I don't need a single yen
>Charges money
>>
Ah I was looking forward to this.
>>

They were already considered so back in the day, but /a/ didn't care as much about fujos back then, unless they were the Naruto/Death Note types.

One thing that I've learned about these magic clauses is that, usually, if you try to cheat them in any meaningful way, you're fucked.

I dunno, fucking the devil is acceptable, right?

But she did get the answer to her problems. She could have shopped as much as she wanted and wouldn't have lost any money, but then she tried fucking them over by doing something that couldn't get repossessed.

Honestly I'm surprised how much like normal devil-deals this show has, the downsides only come from the peoples shittiness. Had the guy not wanted to get drunk and rather work normally he wouldn't have gotten in the position he got.

Shinto has a hard time translating the concept of a truly bad spirit that will fuck you over or something.

Had she stood up for herself rather than guilt herself with hedonism, she wouldn't have gotten in this mess. She lacked self confidence and tried to hide it away with the joy of buying. But as it was shown, buying didn't make her happy, she wanted to keep the item to feel a sense of accomplishment. It's all her fault and no one else. She got what she deserved.

Honestly, what she should have done is buy expensive items at the beginning of the day and showed it off to everyone at work.

The thing is that Moguro is basically a jerkass genie, except written really badly because a jerkass genie shouldn't actively fuck over the mark's lives, but let them fuck themselves over on their own.

The dudes in the first story wanted to go back to work and be responsible, the only reason they didn't is because of Moguro's bullshit boom magic. The woman in the second story was being a dumb shit thinking she could cheat, to be sure, but why did she turn into an old hag instead of going back to normal? We were given rules as to how his money magic works and then they were promptly broken.

The dudes should have decided to stay in the bar on their own (maybe with some extra push from the girls), and the woman should have done something with her beauty that would have resulted in getting a shitty life once everything was taken (like maybe go full cunt and flaunt all her new stuff and beauty to her coworkers and/or boss). It's not enough to have the marks be punished for abusing the gifts they're given - the whole point of jerkass genie or deal-with-the-devil stories is that their own actions are the reason they're being punished at all.
>>

No, I just think this show is trying to say "look at these selfish people suffer for being selfish." I feel like I saw a woman make a choice that reflects the pain she's gone through by being trashed at her workplace. She didn't hurt or deceive anyone, she just did something nice for herself. You can tell me to the cow's come home that she was being greedy, but I just saw someone wanting to feel pretty and desired for once in her life. The drastic horrifying consequences seem over the top, especially when she didn't try to hide what she was doing from the salesman, she just wondered if a makeover could even be repossessed

>>155408551
Regardless, I don't think that's what the show is saying by having both of the targets be pathetic rather than cruel

I know the lesson is not to resort to things that give you momentary pleasure instead of facing your problems, but that was just weird. I get the idea behind it yeah, "Beauty and youth" but wouldn't just taking away that at an inopportune time and making her regular again work for a lesson?

The first one was fairly meek of a lesson compared to how much the woman got fucked over.

I assume the rest of the show is not just people fucking themselves over by abusing his deals, but the salesman adding more "oomp" to the punishment?

Moguro can do whatever he wants, but once you fall pray to your own indulgences or try to break a clause, you get fucked over. That's his deal.

>The dudes in the first story wanted to go back to work and be responsible, the only reason they didn't is because of Moguro's bullshit boom magic.
No, the only reason he didn't is because he wanted to indulge himself with pleasure like alcohol and women rather than work. Once he actually gave up his responsibilities, he got fucked over for it.
>The woman in the second story was being a dumb shit thinking she could cheat, to be sure, but why did she turn into an old hag instead of going back to normal? We were given rules as to how his money magic works and then they were promptly broken.
No, they weren't. He got back what she paid, except more symbolically and literally. She bought youth and beauty temporarily, but he took it back permanently. She thought she would be clever by buying something temporary that could not be taken away and got fucked back.

>The dudes should have decided to stay in the bar on their own
What?

>the woman should have done something with her beauty that would have resulted in getting a shitty life once everything was taken
Did you ignore the point that she bought worthless shit just to feel good about herself? She didn't buy anything to improve herself. And buying beauty is the same.

Yes. The man got punished because they put their pleasure over their responsibilities of their work. And the woman got punished for not standing up for herself and drowning her sorrows with hedonism. She lacked self confidence and tried to hide it away with the joy of buying. She got fucked over for trying to be clever. But as it was shown, buying didn't make her happy, she wanted to keep the item to feel a sense of accomplishment. It's all her fault and no one else. She got what she deserved.

Certainly sounds like you're upset that it doesn't fit your morality.
Consider that "karma" is less about good/bad than useful/useless. It's not that you are punished because you have done something to deserve it, but that suffering is the natural consequence of "bad" actions.

Second part kinda had no moral overtone. Had the women lost her youth faster and faster after each treatment it would be acceptable, but the exchange was too nonequivalent in the end.

The episode was neither fun or interesting enough. I don't see it selling. It will probably be the first anime I drop unless there is some different catch but it will probably be just episodic shit.

It's more the fact that she wanted to actually keep something she bought and thought that buying beauty and youth were something that could not be taken away, as they are not directly materialistic. Except it was.

>>155409304
>That doesn't mean they deserve to have their lives destroyed
By who's standard did they not deserve it? Yours?
The man drank someone out of his means without noticing or caring about the price for pleasure, while the woman tried to be clever by buying something that could not be technically given back.
They ruined their own lives.
>>
>>155409217
>Moguro can do whatever he wants
Again, what's the point of the "i'll give you what you want" setup if the show is, according to you, some asshat shitting on people for no reason? And why isn't the show 12 episodes of some midget punting people across the street into a trampoline if that's the case?

Again, the dudes WANTED to leave. They didn't because Moguro magic'd them into not doing it. Watch the episode. You have more of a point with the woman, but the rules that were established are: what was bought would be taken away. So why did he take more than that and made the woman into an old hag? She didn't BREAK the rules. She never bought anything that couldn't be repossessed, she just tried to and failed (as we could see). There's no reason for the enhanced punishment other than "LEL"

That third paragraph was just me saying how the stories could have had more punch by letting the marks fuck themselves over. Like how it happens in good deal-with-the-devil stories.

>>155409344
Your interpretation of the second story doesn't work at all because the punishment was handed by breaking the rules established within the same 15 minutes. She wasn't punished for being a bad person, she was punished because. Once more, the rules state that only what was bought would be taken away. And once more, the rules were not broken. She wasn't punished for being a shitty person, but because Moguro felt like it.

>>155409655
>They're flawed people, and their flaws lead to suffering.
Except they don't. The dudes would have been responsible people had it not been for Moguro forcing them to stay at Daylight. The woman would still have compulsive buying disorder had it not been for Moguro randomly breaking his own rules.

I'm just going to watch retards tripping over their internet meme language games to say Satan has some kind of duty to follow their particular morality, when he's the guy whose very job description is to corrupt the innocent and generally fuck people over into eternal torment.

Hopefully they will continue to wonder how could Satan possibly be evil, or how could he dislike being cheated or otherwise feel slighted, throughout the whole airing.

>Again, the dudes WANTED to leave.
What they wanted and what they did is mutually exclusive. They fell to their pleasures by their own volition, not due to magic.

>She didn't BREAK the rules
Regardless of the semantics, what she bought was given back. She bought beauty and youth and it was literally, rather than symbolically, taken back.

You're just trying to be nitpicky about rules being broken and whatnot. She tried to be clever about trying to keep something that could not be technically given back like beauty through makeup and massages, and it was taken back.
>>
>>155409902
>There's no reason for the enhanced punishment other than "LEL"
did we watch the same episode?

The reason she lost her youth was that she bought the pleasures of beautiful skin and the attention of men, so that's what had to be repossessed. She's lucky they didn't tear her fingernails out with pliers too.

I'm disappointed she didn't figure it out sooner and try to buy her bitchy coworkers something instead. Or would that have come back to bite her anyways?
>>
>>155409902
Moguro didn't magic anyone into doing anything. He tempted them, and they gave in.

>All these moralfags mad at the episode

I'm am extreme moralfag myself, to the point where i didn't particularly enjoy the episode much, but i can understand what's going on. Their actions caused them problems, they didn't bother to think of the consequences or the risks involved and let their own pleasures take them over until they got fucked for it.

It's not supposed to be punishment of those who deserve it for being actual awful people, but punishing those who don't bother to improve themselves. No matter how pathetic they are, it's their own fault.

Basically. Don't accept deals with strangers who seem too good to be true. There's always a catch, and don't keep yourself grounded on your safezone, and do something about what's bothering you.
>>
>>155410099
>They fell to their pleasures by their own volition
No, they were magic'd into it by Moguro. Watch the episode.
>what she bought was given back.
And he took about 30 years of her life too while doing it. That was not part of the rules he himself laid out.

>You're just trying to be nitpicky about rules being broken and whatnot.
Well, what's the point of having rules if they're going to be broken willy-nilly like that?

>>155410183
>did we watch the same episode?
Apparently not, the one I watched said that Moguro would take back what was bought. Not more than that, not less than that, but what was bought. The woman should have gone back to normal, not turned into an old hag.

>>155410199
He used some pretty spectacular magic as soon as one of the dudes said "we should be back right now". Did you really miss that?
>>
>>155409901
I liked that bit as it was supposed to be the incoming twist that added a bit of a horror element to it.

But ultimately it was completely avoidable had she just cut back on the frivolous spending and done the self improvement out of her own pocket but she tried to take an easy shortcut out of it.

Granted nobody sane should be able to imagine that shit happening but I think I'd damn well not try to get clever with a contract a shady guy gives me out of nowhere and no storytelling rules were broken so it all holds water.

>>
>>155410383
>Apparently not, the one I watched said that Moguro would take back what was bought
Presumably, that means taking away what was bought from the norm, meaning she would become an old hag.

E.g., buy a really great car for $200k, and later you'll lose the car and be in debt for $200k.

>>155410351
Yeah, I think Moguro was being pretty generous, all things given. Yes, he did offer up plenty of temptation, but they were the ones to all for it. The salarymen could have had a nice place to sneak away to and have a beer and talk to ladies during lunch, but they got drunk, knowing they had work.

The woman is a bit iffier. She's already to blame for not spending wisely, and she should have seen the massive red flags,
but it's not like she would have know what would been taken away if she got that spa treatment unless she knew he was magic. She still should have known he would have done something, that fucker as clear he was serious.
>>
>>155410548
Or, he chose to make her old for trying to trick him. After all, she feels pleasure in buying things, and that was his deal.

Salaryman didn't have to drink and spend all day there, or even go more than once. He chose to.

Maybe she'd lose weight, or die. I think Moguro wants his clients to use their gift in moderation to fix their problems. For OL that would be paying for electricity and buying food while quitting her splurges. For Salaryman it would be having a single drink at lunch and returning to work before 1:00 (or drinking at night).

It's perfectly fair; it's even generous.

She tells the Salesman that when she's upset and needs to unwind she compulsively buys things, but is in financial trouble because her tastes keep getting more and more expensive. So he offers her a credit card that will allow her to satisfy that specific craving, to impulse buy things, without it hurting her pocketbook. The condition is whatever is purchased must be taken back the next day.

She decides to use the card to pay for things outside her impulse shopping, to try and use its power to make herself more beautiful. That's outside the scope of what he originally gave it to her for, and led to her downfall.

There are some cases where the client is being more or less tricked from the beginning even if they go along with it to the letter, but it still ends up being a "seemed to good to be true" type deal. I mentioned the conclusion in passing a bit earlier in this thread, but as an example, episode 14 of the original show, the client starts the episode by rejecting the proposal of the guy she was messing with for not being wealthy. She complains to Moguro that she can't find anyone who is tall, rich, and went to a good college. Moguro sends her on a trip to an island for a match making event, and secretly takes steps to set her up with a seemingly ideal guy. Eventually the guy proposes to her, but the guy also tricks her, and has a camera crew secretly record them having sex on the beach. When she leaves the island she finds Moguro at the bar to thank him sending her to the resort where she found the ideal man she will marry once he is "back from LA", to which Moguro shows her the porn video that was being distributed by the that "ideal" man.

Its kind of boring for me since they are all weak people constructed to fall for the temptation.

The girl was addicted to shopping and when she no longer was able to get a kick out of it because of the repossession sought other ways to replace them. Its basically a weak person acting in a weak way. Like a drug addict fucking himself over.

I mean I can get getting some laughs out of it, but dumb people being dumb doesn't really hold much value to me to construct moral lessons out of it like many people here attempt to.

Wrong on both accounts. He just offered the salarymen a drink. They should have known not to get hammered on the job, but they did so anyway. No magic was used to force them to drink. He never told the woman "Oh, I have magic powers and i you go to the spa, I'll age you and make you ugly" but he was very clear he would take anything she bought with the card. She thought she was clever by buying something that can't be returned, so she got fucked for it.

He pretty obviously gives her the card as a solution to her impulse buying problem. And the way it is set up, with everything being repossessed the next day, makes it doubly clear it's meant to sate only the impulse to buy things and nothing else. It's a pretty generous magical solution to her problems, and yet it's not good enough for her because her real issue is that she's just greedy and empty inside. And of course Moguro knew that, hence his temptation of her. You would probably fall for the same kind of trick, since you immediately think anything not expressly forbidden is permitted.

>>
>>155412587

And this isn't valid because why, exactly?

He gave her the magic credit card so she could do whatever the hell she wanted it, with the one and only condition being that what she buys with it will be taken away come dawn. If there were any more conditions than that, then they are just your headcanon because they are never mentioned.
>>
>>155412587
>girl gets offered a magical solution to her problem
In the first place, what he gave her was not a solution but a button to self destruction.

A drug dealer giving a drug addict infinite drug supply isnt solving his problem. And the drug addict isnt really even falling for temptation, but just plain self destructing.
>>
>>155412510
Are you seriously trying to defend the OL who tried to outsmart him because of her addiction.
>>
>>155412606
You don't seem to understand he was setting her up to fall. He was punishing her greed, yet you just get hung up on the rules like they mattered when everything hinged on her own foibles.
>>
>>155412611
If they'd given in, then why did Moguro have to magic them? Because if he hadn't, the dudes would have left on their own accord to work like they should.

The writing is bad, mate.
>>
>>155412510
It's pretty simple. For a "Payment" on the card to work. the item has to be returned in full. This is simple to do with clothing, as they can just send it back. But they can't send back a treatment, so she can't make a "Payment". So for trying to cheat him, Moguro takes what he can to pay it off, her beauty.
>>
>>155412766
>But they can't send back a treatment
Please explain to me what the issue is with returning her to the way she looked before.

And if your arguing that she also needs to return the "experience itself". Then I can argue the same thing for the material things she bought. She had people admire her for them and gained pseudo-respect for buying things, this was also never returned.
>>
>>155412581
I feel like he could only use his magic when its time to deal the consequences, maybe the time was accelerated a lot making them returned late as fuck since they got no money to pay the bill, but then there is the credit card and popping out of nowhere parts.
>>
>>155412676
There's nothing to say the beauty treatment couldn't be returned and indeed, not only it was returned (it's magic, i ain't gotta explain shit) but the girl was turned into an old hag, completely ignoring the rules he himself set for her.

>>155412705
Are you seriously trying to defend bad writing?

>>155412766
Except he took back the treatment just fine. He had no reason to take back any more than that.
>>
>>155412688
Because she was punished for being greedy. You seem to have a mindset similar to hers which is why you don't see anything wrong with what she did, in abusing a supernatural gift given to you in response to a specific problem. You think you understand the nature of the rules but you don't.
>>
Why does the art style look like ass? Is it always like this? What the fuck
>>
>>155412699

>>
>>155412587
You're missing the point pretty hard.
The problem isn't that this show is trying to depict people being held responsible for their actions, it's that it fails at it because of the way the writing is executed.
I personally don't nearly give as much as a fuck about the salaryman case because that guy could have known the consequences of drinking at work but that wasn't the case for the office lady's punishment.

This could be true, but the implication is not that he gave her a harsher punishment for being greedy, but that he played by the rules normally.

Again, that doesn't quite mesh with what we see. She did nothing to break the rules (she tried, but as I explained like ten times before, Moguro is magic and could have taken back the beauty treatment without any issues) and her attitude didn't give her any IRL problems that she couldn't solve with unlimited money. There's no rhyme or reason to the punishment, it just happened.

Sure, she wouldn't have the benefits anymore, but it would be so easy for her to cheat the system and other people this way by going to a spa or going to restaurants, as that's stuff that's going to go away anyway. You think he was just going to leave such a massive loophole open or was he going to have some collateral?

To repossess that he should have set her back to her regular self. Turning her into an old hag is a disproportionate punishment
I think I'd maybe understand the ending more if she had done something cruel or deceitful with her beauty, but all she did was let herself feel beautiful for once. Still, turning her into a hag is not following his own rules
>>

The moment she tried to cheat, (She wasn't expecting the beauty treatment to be able to be returned. Rewatch the scene with her thoughts about it on the office) the deal was out and she was doomed to punishment. How do you return a beauty treatment anyways? With magic that she didn't know Moguro had, thus the basis for her thinking it could work
Why should Moguro keep his end of the deal when his client didn't?
It's not "bad writing". It's you missing the point and using "bad writing" to try to make it a problem with the show

Ex-fucking-actly. The writing of this show is simply not good.
>>
The show uses extreme extrapolation to tell it's stories. Complaining about it not making sense kind of misses the point of the anime, but it's even more retarded to argue that writing and the details around the situations actually follow some logic.

Watch this with the same mentality you read the Three Little Pigs. No, it doesn't make sense, but it shouldn't be hard to see what message it wants to tell.

Now it really sounds like you are just making up your own head canon.
The show explicitly shows that Moguzo can magic around. He isnt limited to physically scraping of skin or shit like that. He could have simply returned her to the way she looked before.

Of course she was trying to cheat, and yes that would be deserving of a punishment. And that's the problem here, she didn't cheat. Moguro DID take away the beauty treatment, meaning it wasn't something that couldn't be repossessed, meaning she didn't break the rules, meaning she shouldn't have been punished.

Trying to cheat isn't the same as actually cheating.

If the fun is just in seeing somebody getting overpunished without him having any knowledge of something like that possibly happening, then this will probably not hold me for long.

too bad Faust it's a story of redemption in the end, ending with a devil literally defeated
>>
>>155413828
I don't think that has anything to do with anything.
>>
>>155413196
How do you not understand that dealing with the devil is just setting yourself up to fall into his hands? In Faust it is done right at the outset, he literally has to hand over his soul to seal the bargain, but with Moguro it comes as a surprise to his victims. The deal is still inherently the same: he gives people magical solutions to their problems that simultaneously set them up to fall. He doesn't explicitly tell them this because that would ruin the point of it, he just lets them act normally. And if their normal actions are to squander what is given and to fall further into their sins, then they reap what they sow.
>>
>>155413828
Oh Jesus are you actually implying you wouldn't try it out?
Sorry we are all morally inferior to you I guess
>>
>>155413873
It does because you literally think Moguro did what he did because he was bored.

Yes and? She also had a good time showing off the things she bought to other people, which also didnt get taken back.

And yet she still could no longer get a kick out of it. The thing is, she was actually beginning to understand that all these things didnt help improve her life even if she had infinite access.

She was actually learning but then lelkekfuckyou 80 year old hag. Now the character cannot learn anything.

And the viewer should be well aware that trying to cheat drug dealers never ends well.
>>
>>155413891
>implying you wouldn't try it out?
When did I even imply that though? I'm just saying she was already a weak character and had the "hole in her heart". Moguro simply tapped into it, because he knew she was going to take the bait anyway.

>>155414152
Using a real life scenario isnt exactly helping you.
We know the laws, the punishments and we know that when we break them theres always a chance of somebody watching.

This exactly a situation where we are aware of everything that might go wrong if we fuck up, and yet people still do. Which is why its interesting.

And Faust also agreed despite knowing whats at stake. Your saying that if they knew they were being tempted, then there would be basically no story. This may be true for many individuals and many stories we will see here.
But those stories and individuals that still go for it, those are the actually interesting ones.

a.) Its fun humor, dont think too deeply about it (example >>155414266)

Moguro is hardly going to play fair, he does this for his own amusement (the show can be called The Laughing Salesman for a reason). Generally he deals out some punishment for those who either give into temptation or accept a deal that is too good to be true, but it's not some equivalent exchange by some type of set rules deal.

Although I can only imagine this threads reaction in these threads if they adapt any stories like episode 3 of the 1989 series, This is the end result of a guy who thought he was going to meet the girl of his dreams who he saw in voice and photos, but was just a trick laid out by Moguro.

Because he gave her the card specifically for the shopping problem, he says to her "please use this card whenever you go shopping". She confessed to him at the bar that she went on an impulse shopping spree whenever she got upset, and now it was causing her to use up all her money and becoming a real problem. So he gives her a card that lets her sate that impulse without hurting her finances. It doesn't cure her of greed, but it doesn't reward her greed either because she can't keep anything she buys. It just lets her maintain the status quo. But suddenly the status quo wasn't good enough for her, because the consequences of her actions had been removed. She began to think she could get anything she wanted, started to think of ways to keep the things she got for free. And right as she reached that point, he steps in and punishes her.

Pretty obvious punishment for greed.

Personally, I thought she was going to start acting like an obnoxious idiot and start flaunting all of her new stuff to her coworkers, making them all hate her. Doing a beauty treatment actually is a superior, our world moral-wise, way to waste your money than buying stuff and she was punished for that. The normal expectation for that was to return to zero, just like when buying stuff that go away but instead she went bellow zero, being punished for playing at his rules.

He salesman is just a sadist that likes playing with the suffering of others, but instead of being some sort of fun and likeable sadist he is just a boring sadist. Not interesting at all.

The salaryman's bill is going to take a long time to pay off, he's basically going to be living a very poor lifestyle with little comfort for several months at least. The woman tried to outsmart Moguro which is probably why he slammed her so hard.

moguro didn't took money from her when retrieving the jewels and clothes. The logic of the deal would be taking her make-up, hair conditioning but not taking her beauty. With clothes is one thing, with make-up another thing. No logic but the will of moguro. Shitty character.

Once again, the first episode was very functional to the premise and even very logical. The second was cheap bullying.

She did, she wasn't supposed to use the card for anything but fashion splurging (this is what she told him her problem is, he agreed to solve her problem.) When she broke her side of the deal, he broke his and took more than promised. How isn't that fair? This was even explained in the series bio.

The problem she expressed to him was spending all her money on stupid crap that she later regrets buying. Her expressed problem was not 'I look too old', that came later.
She broke that rule, so he broke another.
>>155415645
He didn't express it, she expressed it. He said he would help her with her problem, she expressed the problem, he gave her a way to solve it. When she made up another problem (something inevitable at that) he took more than promised.

That's the premise, keep that in mind for the next episode so we don't have 60 responses of discussion and 500 responses of poor reading comprehension.

What the fuck does that have to do with my post? The idiot was arguing that the dudes stayed in the club out of their own accord and that's why they deserved to be punished. They didn't stay in the club out of their own accord, they were kept there with magic so the punishment was undeserved.

You are retarded. The whole point was the club was something that shouldn't exist, it was too good to be ture, a temptation that any responsible adult wouldn't give into because drinking in the middle of the day when you're at work is fucking stupid. Yet they still went back.

Both in this version and especially the old version of the story, it appears he used his magic to get them to forget that they needed to leave then (and in the old version, it lead to the two being fired). The story still works though, they figured they could go to a club and gave into the temptation to drink during the middle of the day, it's not like missing the deadline was the only thing the paid did wrong there.
>>
>>155415669

The spirit of the rule was to give her a way to buy clothes and accessories like she was already doing, but she couldn't keep them. This lets her indulge her shopping habit without any consequences. The obvious spirit of the rule was you can't profit long-term from this, it's just a way to keep your cravings in check. That's why the repossession was part of the deal. She actively tries to get around that part with the spa treatment. She was trying to fuck him over. And she got fucked in turn. >the supposed flaw of the dudes was that they wanted more pleasure instead of going back to work
Their flaw was going to a fucking NIGHTCLUB in the middle of the day and getting loaded and flirting with hostess girls instead of working. Compounded on this is their total lack of credulity in just accepting that a nightclub that's open at noon and is located beneath their building is totally legit and not too good to be true. Even after the first time with no magic involved, they ended up being 30 minutes late in getting back to work they STILL went back a second time. That's their fucking problem you stooge.

Here is the old version of that event, he clearly used magic the moment someone brought up the time. If it doesn't seem like magic was used in the new version, then that is just a failure of the show to properly indicate it. They were very drunk by that point though in the middle of their lunch hour, so it's not like they were blameless other than not leaving to be back at 1:00.
