Sort of unavoidable, really. Shierke and Farnese are the kinds of character's who would have to explain things to each other. And neither have the background knowledge to not have to puzzle it out for themselves.

And even then, a lot is left unsaid because they don't know the exact circumstances of why Casca's current condition has come about, Guts's history, or the weight both feel because of their relationship to each other.

I think people pointed out one of the biggest things that's left unsaid, if I recall, is that this is Casca's perspective and she's imagining herself as a broken doll in a casket that Guts has been chained to.
