I'm not going to be contrarian for the sake of it and I'll be honest. TFS is the reason why I came back into Dragon Ball. TFS brought back Dragon Ball to the english speaking audience. They are amazing and legitimately funny at times but lately their humor has been lacking. Their role as a parody series has been lost due to character development and populism and now Neo TFS takes their show too seriously to make any silly jokes. They need to know that it's okay to go off the plot and go out of character to make retarded offensive jokes. Right now, they are just retelling DBZ at a snail like pace.

Mr Satan's character is the exact same as the actual show and that's disappointing. I also think ssj carter made a funnier Broly abridged movie than TFS.

The quality of the show is very iffy at the moment. Cell is essentially a light version of Alucard now. it doesn't help that for the past two or three years they made announcements saying they were finally getting their shit together and releasing them regularly (like every month and a half) and that fell flat. The show just seems to be trying to be too serious now. It worked with Cell's initial appearance because they played up the creepiness, but not now.

It started off as a pretty funny low budget parody, but by the freeza arc it because 10/10 hilarious and actually matched an official dub in terms of quality.

Since then it's slowly lost a lot of the spark of humor that kept it funny before. in terms of objective quality it's better, but something about it just feels not as creative or special. I'm not sure if that's just due to me being used to the formula by now, or if their team has just gotten too in a specific wokflow that has gotten repettitive or what.

It was dead for months, now it looks like your average YouTube channel. The oldies playlist is where the gold is.

Started out great and I still like it but the episodes have slowed down.
Even though they are putting a ton of work into their editing the writing has suffered for it, their twisted version of the DBZ characters have become one or two catchphrases characters that repeat the same joke over and over again.

It has lost it's charm and humor and just become an english dub of the Anime series, a really really good english dub but that is not why I liked the series.

I liked it back in the day during the late Saiyan and Namek arcs, though most of it hasn't stood the test of time. The Freeza battle and initial Trunks episodes were probably the peak of the series in terms of its writing, relying more on character banter rather than non-sequiturs, memes and bad editing.

These days it's just an incredibly slow mediocre fan dub of Dragon Ball Z with awkward in-jokes. The only character they seem to enjoy writing for is Vegeta and even he's getting tiresome with how much they rely on him.

It's just as good as its always been, maybe even better. The production value has increased tremendously. They have their own fucking soundtracks for important moments. The jokes is the damn same. And some are just topical now, which apparently means 2pc4me. Krillin's "aborting Cell" monologue still gets me every time.

There's nothing wrong with the more "serious" path the parody is taking. In fact, it arguably makes the parody the most accessible, enjoyable and easiest way to bring new potential fans into the world of Dragon Ball. You get the badassery of Z which can't be recreated without tension, you get fights without the filler (and excellent voicework), which was Kai's appeal, and on top of that the show is now comedy golden freeza while still keeping the central plotlines intact, which is something many abridge series aren't able to do nowadays. Kikoho was hype as fuck.

Fans wouldn't have given a quarter of a shit about BoG had it not been for the guys at TFS keeping the fandom alive all these years. Hell, I doubt Super would've been made.

The added "seriousness" (or really just attention to the tone of the official release) helps the plot move along more cohesively, and really just makes the hard-hitting jokes hit harder.

And for the last fucking time, Let's Plays have no bearing on the episode schedule. And THAT'S how they make their revenue. Just don't watch the content if you don't think they should be making DBZA free kek.

In the Lets Plays they make offensive jokes all the time, but then on twitter its like "I hate X because its offensive or racist"
I miss the old days when they didn't really care about the jokes they made as long as it was funny., I think the worst one was the censoring the word cunt but keeping a word like "dick" or "bullshit"

Funny at times, but much like I don't enjoy people shouting I'M RICK JAMES BITCH when there is even a vague mention of Dave Chappele, I do not at all enjoy the endless stream of jokes from this show on nearly every damn DBZ related thing online.

It is awfully slow now to a point where I feel they have lost their momentum more than anything, as well as the 'serious' parts often being kind of 90s Batman cartoon serious. It's like they tried to make Cell more intimidating but they ended up making him a generic cocky Hollywood villain.

Amusing, but meh.

I don't get the praise for the VA's though. I don't think they're bad, but to see people call them "iconic" or "better than Funimation" is kind of rich
