Kudo has never caught someone that wasn't in close proximity. There's no way he'll be able to pinpoint Light's location from Kira's killings. Shinichi Kudo had a big name for himself before he turned into Conan.

We know for sure that the Death Note requires someone's real name. An alias does not work or else Light would have been able to kill L just by writing "L" on the Death Note.

I would guess that the writer has to think of the victim's current face. So Light would have to write Shinichi Kudo while thinking of Conan.

Considering Kudo still has not caught the guys from the Black Organization I would say Kudo has no chance against Light. Kudo's equal is a high school thief. Light's equal is the world's greatest investigator from the other side of the world.

Light could just tell someone with Shinigami eyes to look at Conan.
