Why choose the Tsundere if there is the hot athletic class president that you ignore her confession? An adorable maid that have large tits that you get to talk with everyday? Or the unnamed girls from your harem that we never see again?

They want excitement in their lives.

Because tsundere are the easiest archetype to write development for. The transition from tsun to dere is clear and obvious while making it feel like there's natural plot progression. That makes it an easy crutch for poor writers.
