So i got a question what was Gendo and Seele trying to do? Gendo does not like Seele and he wants to make the instrumentality project and reset the world? Since Seele tries to fuck over NERV with the S2 Evangelions aren't they both headed towards the same goal with making everyone into LCL and whatever? If someone could explain this since I never understood this part about the end of evangelion.

This confuses me too. Like why did this entire movie take place where everyone's trying to kill each other when both sides want the same thing and they both succeed?

I think the answer I got last time boils down to who's in control. Theoretically, if Gendo got his way, he would be the giant albino fucking the world, and if SEELE did, then the crucified EVA01 would be at the center of everything, and they maybe had some way to control it. In the end, Rei forcefully takes control for herself, and they both lose (even though they both still mostly win)

Gendos version to instrumentality was simply for him to merge with 01 to see Yui again. Not that much explanation behind it. Probably wouldn't end the world. Seeles version was for them to ascend and merge with 01 to rule over humanity and give them unlimited control. Also would not end the world.
