There was some cool shit, sure, but Oda's two biggest advantages when it comes to powers are his sense of scale and willingness to be a little silly, which allows him to be more creative. Kubo and Kishimoto are too fixated on their villains being threatening or creepy, and their main villains reach stupid tiers of power and keep going.

Oda is the man who made turning into a giraffe seem interesting.

I do like it when mangakas are much more creative with their powers. Kubo loosened up a bit towards the end, and gave the sternritters some pretty interesting powers, whilst still keeping the m threatening.

Obito from Naruto I think is an example of a very excellent shonen power, implemented in a unique way to strong effect.
