Play whatever you find uncomfortable to aim. Jump streams, 1/4 jumps, high CS, rustbell maps, squares...

Everything with jumps is uncomfortable to play. I can easily do (95-98%acc) 5.8+ stars when it isn't jump heavy.
On the other side, I sometimes die when playing recent ~4 star maps with jump parts.

Sounds like you need to play more jumps. I used to be inconsistent on jumps before I removed followpoints from my skin, might help you too. Also actually look at every single note if you don't already. Try to find maps with different patterns, maybe long sections with only small spacing jumps.

I always know where my cursor is without really paying it any attention because it's a very bright color.
I look at the circle I'm aiming at, I start moving towards it and then I look at the next circle. The movement itself as well as knowing when to stop come from muscle memory.
