I LOVE EGGPLANT LUCOA!!
Why don't you ever start a thread with Tohru?
As world-class as Lucoa is, I'm getting a little sick of seeing her face in the catalog.
I wasn't this comfy with a show since non non
I remember someone said threads ago that he wanted Fafnir porn. Have this
Alright, here's my honest opinion on Kobayashi's Meme Dragon.
Its a good anime. The concept of having a dragon girl cosplaying as a maid to be a maid for someone who 'accidentally' saved her from the verge of death is pretty nice. Besides, I may have been living under a rock, but you don't get to see dragons, a Meso-american god, and an Icelandic dragon as a human in an anime frequently, mainly because they're dragons. The show would be a perfection if it weren't for some flaws of course.
Alright, so a slice of life anime about a stoic programmer living with a dragon girl maid. In my opinion, what really flawed the show is the loli yuri thing going on between Saikawa and Kanna. Its a slice of life anime, not a yuri loli thing or whatever. Maybe they're just trying to show off Kanna's cuteness, but that would still be a flaw. I mean, it feels like the show is overfeeding you some moe shit instead of the real stuff, but thats just my opinion.
One more thing that really REALLY bugs me is the mythology. "Tohru being a dragon that's so strong, she can bring forth Armageddon". First of all, that is NOT how it works. You can't just be the harbinger of the end by casting magics and shit to completely wipe out the human civilization and then call that an Armageddon, no. Also, Quetzalcoatl is NOT a dragon. While the anime got some of Lucoa's alias' correct (Serpent goddess and something idfk), they didn't nailed it still. Although surprisingly, Fafnir is the only dragon that got his own lore correct, although his human form isn't a dwarf lmao.
WHY IS EPISODE 11 A CHRISTMAS EPISODE IT WASNT EVEN CHRISTMAS WHEN IT GOT AIRED. It was probably made during Christmas.
Anyway, another one is Tohru. Not just her, but also Kanna, Elma, Lucoa and Fafnir. Yes, I'm talking about the dragons. Dragons? Are they really dragons?
Overall the show is may not be accurate to the real thing, but its still gud. I like Kobayashi.
Yes, this is post-Kanna.
Lucoa > Elma > Kanna > Kobayashi >>>>>> Tohru
on a scale of who is unworthy of any attention. Tohru being the lowest because only 3 people talk about her per thread but she is the second most interesting character in the series.
that's fucking gay
Gotta say Tohru was my least favorite character for a while but she's really growing on me with these last few episodes.
Honestly this show is comfy as fuck. It's not especially deep or revolutionary, it's just nice, and that's something I honestly didn't know I needed.
This is a cute.
>Also, Quetzalcoatl is NOT a dragon
She explains exactly that in the show - she's a goddess of technology and knowledge and not really a dragon, she just hangs with the dragons because winged serpent.
Elma is a big dumb dork, with a big dumb butt!!
Elma really needs another character to improve her food joke. Lucoa has a wide variety of outfits and situations for her slut joke but Elma is always just by herself pissing off everyone around her.
I'm not crazy about Elma, but she is infinitely better than Lucoa just for not being fucking horrible like her. "OH HEY LUCOA IS MOLESTING THE SHOUTA AGAIN HA HA SO FUNNY RIGHT GUYS!"
Honestly I'm disappointed we didn't get a little twist on the joke and see him smiling instead of doing his usual "titties are scary" thing.
I love Lucoa but they're not using her for anything other than the same exact ecchi joke each episode. It was funny in the sports festival episode and her bits at the beach were good, but I miss when we'd get parts of her personality in there too.
Same thing with Elma, she's at her best when she's interacting with Tohru and they show up like twice together. Food jokes are cute, but not when it's literally the same exact joke with no twist.
I'll admit the candy-grab one was pretty fucking solid though
The theme isn't about multiculturalism, it's about how starting a family is a good thing. Kobayashi is the not-so-subtle husband, Tohru is the wife, and Kanna is the daughter. The show even makes a point of having Kobayashi develop from a lonely and monotonous salarywoman into someone who is being constantly reminded that she's changed for the better since her "family" was formed.
It's subtle procreation propaganda.
Did you not hear shouta basically saying luck is for losers and how he will make his own way? Kids going to be quite something in the future, so of course Lucoa is going to fawn over him.
>Blatant fanservice is actually the most normal, functional, collected member of the group
>Deadpan roasts when you least expect it
>Is by far the most powerful/ancient character, but chooses not to get hung up on Order/Chaos shit because who cares
>All that calm/capable/collected shit goes right out the window when it comes to choices in fashion and her interactions with Shouta
>"literal goddess decides to remain the familiar of a prepubescent scrub because she finds his attempts at magic cute/needs a place to crash" is a fun dynamic
She's probably tied with Kanna for my favorite character on the show. That said I really wish we got more bits of her personality (like during the dodgeball game/when she just shows up to hang out) than the same "haha purple boy doesn't like the tits" joke each episode. I like big fat anime tats as much as the next guy, but it kinda feels like they're squandering a fun character for a single joke they repeat each episode.
>she is infinitely better than Lucoa just for not being fucking horrible like her. "OH HEY LUCOA IS MOLESTING THE SHOUTA AGAIN HA HA SO FUNNY RIGHT GUYS!"
>OH HEY ELMA IS HUNGRY AND EATING AGAIN HA HA SO FUNNY RIGHT GUYS!
I wouldn't be surprised if this got a second season, honestly.
I'm seeing at least as many memes of this show as I did when One Punch Man was out, and that's getting a second season. Plus, I can't imagine it's too expensive to make a slice of life show with maybe a collective 5 seconds of real action/titty physics in each episode.
There are multiple characters like this and yet they choose to hang their hat on just one. Fucking annoying to be honest.
One punch actually sold pretty decently. Same can't be said for maid dragon.
Good job anon.
I like Lucoa for these reasons as well.
I just think she's more over the top in the anime because her movements are obviously animated and given sound. She's a nice character the anime has just boiled most of the characters down to the various tropes in my opinion.
That bit about how she hates Tohru but loves her cooking put a neat twist on it. Even Lucoa has her moments like the "world class" bit or her misconceptions about her kimono.
It's the same reason "Tohru wants to fuck Koboyashi" jokes fall flat, but moments where they actually talk about their feelings and families are so memorable.
It's fine for each character to have a recurring bit, but there's gotta be some twist on it each time.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, she's voiced by Jamie Marchi in the dub.
>Shouta-kun is translated to "Shouta Baby"
>"Yeah, sounds rude!"
Lots of points for that casting.
>I wish we could see more Georgie.
A show with an otaku dragon, an /ss/ goddess of agriculture, and a lesbian kindergartener and Georgie is still the weirdest part of this show.
Is she like, Maidgender? What's her deal? Is she ever NOT a maid? How do her parents feel about their daughter acting as a Victorian-era maid, complete with appropriate terminology?
I want an episode that is just Georgie's backstory.
It's pretty solid, the english VAs match up surprisingly well.
It's Funimation, so expect a lot of their usual guys; also expect a bit of obvious ad-libbing/paraphrasing to make the translations sound more natural.
I prefer the subs, but it makes for pretty good background noise (also good for introducing the show to more casual friends who don't like reading).
Why don't we have Iruru?
Lucoa can rub her bare-ass tiddies on Shouta, Kobayashi can drunkenly force Tohru to strip in public, and Kanna gets all that tension with Saikawa (fucks sake the dub changed her line after their playdate to "dragon style").
All that, but we can't get a short girl with gag boobs?
>Hot springs bait
With how much lucoa has been shoved down our throats, I'm quite glad we got this
I'll watch for the keks before bed.
>have you listened to lucoa's dub
Maybe it's because I watched a lot of Sgt Frog in English (her dub VA plays a similar kind of character there) but Lucoa felt super fitting to me.
That one I can give you. It doesn't bug me too much, but Kanna's voice is easily the weakest part of the dub.
The repetition of "I wanna play now please" at the beach gave me a chuckle though.
I bet people never noticed the telephone on his head.
Wakako-zake was neat. I want fried fish now. Thanks to whoever mentioned it last thread.
This. It ever baffles me that people can listen to terrible amateurish voice-acting and think it's anything other than sonic dogshit. Like, are adults really that incapable? Do they have the same inability to detect good/bad directing, or writing?
It would be cool to see her sister Quetzalpetlatl
Shhh! Shota is sleeping.
I wonder if Kyoani will expand the lore and add Xochiquetzal, Quetzalpetlatl, etc
Shouta a cute.
C U T E !
I'm going to marry him.
I don't get this scene, what did Kobayashi realize?
Fafnir's boyfriend loses his job, and for the first time, he very seriously considers dipping into his hoard to help him make the rent w/o missing out on an auction for a rare fig. He reminisces on others who have threatened his hoard, including his brothers.
Fafnir's troublesome brother comes to visit the human world. He has to use his magic to keep people from freaking out, but he can't just enchant someone like his brother, so he has to slink around Sabrina the Teenage Witch style, using curses on individual people, and fending off snide remarks from Boobs McPedo.
Boobs McPedo's sister shows up suddenly as Shouta's new homeroom teacher. Revenge is afoot. There are several close calls. In the end, Fafnir eats the sister, so he and McPedo are even.
The one person who bought one of Fafnir's doujinshi is a fat gothic lolita cosplayer who takes wicca and shit seriously. She tries his spells, and they work. She keeps changing the whole world in ways only she remembers, and it all spirals out of her control. She is finally about to use the last spell to erase her own presence and undo all the other changes, when Tohru just reaches over her shoulder, plucks the book out of her hand, and waves her tail, visibly fixing everything w/ magic without so much as a word.
Fafnir finds out that Kobayashi is personally working on a game he is very interested in. He keeps doing dangerous or soul warping things to try to influence it's development, and Tohru has to keep undoing them. But she can only just keep up w/ Fafnir's lazy efforts. She ends up tearfully begging water piggu for help, and she agrees, but it doesn't really end until McPedo gets his boyfriend's help editing and posting a detailed invective on fans who try too hard to influence the creative process of the works they obsess over. So he just stops, leaving Tohru a paranoid mess as she expects the other shoe to drop.
Class field trip where dyke loli keeps trying to confess. Ends in a peck on the cheek.
oh fuck off. I only just realised barcode scanners scan the white lines, i don't need this
This fapbait won't be memorable especially this fake loli with her retarded thighs
just look at knowyourmeme, it's all filled with this ''god'' dragon with her shitty breast in the lewd section. You all newfags are normalfags, all of you should fuck off with narutards
>You can't just be the harbinger of the end by casting magics and shit to completely wipe out the human civilization and then call that an Armageddon, no
>The term is also used in a generic sense to refer to any end of the world scenario.
according to wiki it'd be okay to use that word
That's a good thing and I wish they'd do this with Elma as well. Lucoa was introduced earlier than in the manga, shoved into a few more scenes and therefore made a relevant character. Elma was introduced in episode EIGHT(!). We're on episode eleven right now and barely anything has happened that couldn't have happened without Elma. I love the little glutton office lady dragon, but I wish they'd either have introduced her earlier (like with Lucoa) and then shoved her in a few filler scenes, or simply have postponed her to S2 (never).
>Can someone explain this feeling to me?
Awakening. The knowledge that 3D women will never love in the same way 2D women can.
You just got WOKE.
> judging by Saikawa's interaction with classmates, Kanna is her only friend
> dragons age longer than humans
> eventually difference between Kanna and other kids will be obvious
> Kanna will be forced to either leave the humans world or change her identity
> Saikawa will be left friendless after that
Who else feels bad for her? On the other hand, her squeeing is damn annoying.
>kobayashi gives tohru a mysterious cup of yellow liquid as a gift
>tohru says it tastes like her
>kobayashi gets embarassed
Why is "lesbians drinking each other's pee" becoming a thing?
Yes, have some more Tooru.
Kanna would never abandon a friend.
>loli yuri a flaw
I don't say this often but you really need to neck yourself.
saikawa is really annoying
loli yuri is fine and all but shoving her into every place (even places she wasn't in the manga) and having her KYAAAAAAAAAA every time kanna goes near her is dumb.
10/10 PERFECT COUPLE
Tohru can fuck off
people are blinded from tits to recognize that Lucoa is the best
good fucking lord the preview for the next episode
this is what ive been waiting for, its going to be so fucking good
>show takes place during the day
>it aired at night
FUCKING KILL THIS SHOW ALREADY
KILL IT NOW
why is she wearing a 4chan logo
It's just a matter of time. I feel bad for yurifags, it's so obvious that this will end with those two hooking up and the dragons watching over their children and grandchildren.
>It's subtle procreation propaganda.
Shinzo 'propaganda' Abe strikes again
Read the manga/watch the show more carefully. Lucoa not technically being a dragon is addressed.
And the loli yuri thing got a lot more scenes in the anime than it does in the manga. Mostly because the did some original content and pretty much just filled the space with the long running jokes attached to each of the characters. Shota and Lucoa got a huge increase in scenes compared to the manga as well.
>They get to pick how they look,
They literally don't. Basically the magic takes everything about their dragon self and transforms it into the closest human equivalent.
According to the legend
Quetzalcoatl was a white blonde person who brought agriculture and other stuff to the Mexicas
They can shift the spell back and forth a bit between the two forms. Thats why they can do things like show and hide their tails and horns. Iruru is notably bad at transforming (Which is part of why her boobs are so huge and is why she has her claws and such out even in human form). She gets better over time though and can now look fully human.
I hate this meme, I hate all the memes, they bring shitposters here, sometimes even talking about the anime in the OP is difficult
Aztecs believed in "duality" deities
A god could be male or female depending the circumstances
>Aztecs believed in "duality" deities
>A god could be male or female depending the circumstances
unlimited source of hentai works
As a daughteru, I hope
Who fucking cares what Spanish rape babies have to say on the subject?
>implying lolicons were ever more than a vocal (and degenerate) minority
Lolicons are right down there with feetfags, scatfags, and diaper trash in terms of ability to affect sales.
In an alternate world, Lucoa is a beefy man who's pushing his balls to Shoua's face all the time, who is a girl, and almost suffocates her in her dream.
Audience is laughing and enjoying it.
From a recent chapter where they go flower viewing and decide to have an arm wrestling contest.
>It's just that there's no anime that really panders to them for fuckever long time.
Good. That's as it should be. No anime should ever pander to lolicons (or those other fetishes I mentioned).
>Kanna would never abandon a friend.
I know it's been posted, but it bugs me that they're two different sizes.
I have to agree, as much as I still love feathered tit goddess. I really wish they'd use more aspects of her personality.
Don't forget her whole reason for coming to this universe in the first place was to be with and check up on Torhu
before anyone disagrees just look at this webm
The slut-shaming doesn't even make sense in context when you think about it for five seconds.
>Kanna spots Kobayashi and Tohru holding hands (LEWD)
>Accused Kobayashi of seducing Tohru with her body
>Calls her a slut and a cuckold
>Kobayashi's natural reaction is "I'm not a slut!"
>This means "WTF? I didn't seduce Tohru!"
>Kanna spots Kobayashi and Tohru holding hands (LEWD)
>Accused Kobayashi of seducing Tohru with her body
>Calls her a slut and a cuckold
>Kobayashi's "natural" reaction is "Don't slutshame me"
>This could be interpreted as implicitly admitting that she seduced Tohru
Say what you want about her calling Lucoa's body unrealistic, that's probably the kind of thing a bitter office lady would say when confronted with such bazongas on a relatively slender frame. The slutshaming comment actually sabotages the plot though.
>I think it's supposed to be a joke on how nothing lewd was actually happening.
That's clear in the Japaneser version. Not so much in English. There's no reason why she couldn't have just said "I'm not a slut".
>There's no reason why she couldn't have just said "I'm not a slut".
That's not really a joke though, that's just her stating what's actually true.
Her implying that something lewd actually did happening would sort of be a joke, but again it's a pretty shitty joke.
It was a bad decision but I don't think it was one made without at least some thought put into it.
Funimation's writing team is full of cucks these days that would unironically use the term "slutshaming" in normal conversation.
They weren't trying to be clever or funny, they're just fucking retarded. Don't forget the Prison School fiasco.
>LEL ARE YOU WUNNA DOSE GAMER GATE VIRGINS?
And then the "LMAO NO WONDER THESE VIRGIN NERDS WOULD GET MAD ABOUT ANIME" response from the writer.
>Calls her a slut and a cuckold
She didn't call Kobayashi a cuckold (Which wouldn't make sense, as in the context Kanna would be the cuckold). She called the situation itself netorare.
>And then the "LMAO NO WONDER THESE VIRGIN NERDS WOULD GET MAD ABOUT ANIME" response from the writer.
What? Did this actually happen? The reaction I mean.
>people still replying to this pasta
Oh god he's one of those fucking people.
How the fuck does anybody get a job like that if they clearly don't care about being faithful to the source material? You wouldn't stay employed as a school administrator for very long if you just put down an illegible name as Mickey Mouse, you wouldn't stay hired by McDonalds for very long if you decided you wanted to try frying up some courgette instead of potato, it's just flabbergasting that they can get away with that.
>calls people out for using the term "slutshaming"
>unironically using the word "cuck"
Please, America have no experience fighting dragons.
Yes. I wish I still had the screenshot, but somewhere on twitter (either unprompted or in response to someone else's tweet) he said that it's no surprise lonely virgins are getting uppity about their titty anime making fun of them.
He interpreted all backlash as raging neckbeards being sexist and wishing violence on women in nerd culture, rather than people getting mad at him for being a fucking idiot.
Funimation's current employees don't like anime. They don't understand why people like anime. They loathe their customers. Don't support Funimation (I'm sure you already didn't do that anyhow)
>Holding childish grudges is good for the industry
I could've sworn I clicked out of /v/
They get jobs because its all a big circlejerk of agenda-toting SJWs. It happened to comics, it happened to the news, it happened to academia, it happened to localization efforts, and it happened to video games but it found resistance because they bit off more than they could chew trying to submit one of the world's most lucrative entertainment businesses.
They get jobs because they're part of a cult, not because they're going to do a job.
If they changed Kobayashi's dub personality to sound more sarcastic then I would get it because she wasn't being serious. But in the context of the actual dub, it was just a random throwaway line that added nothing. Elma could've said "don't slutshame me" out of nowhere and it would make more sense.
It doesn't matter to me. Kanna has a childlike mind and was just throwing phrases she doesn't understand. She unironically believed holding hands is perverted.
So, who's stronger?
Quetzalcoatl or Fafnir?
Quetzalcoatl or Tohru's dad?
Quetzalcoatl or Iruru?
How does this guy still have a job? Rule #1 of the entertainment industry is not to insult your target audience. Does Funimation want to go down the drain like Marvel (or at least its comics department)?
>"Tohru being a dragon that's so strong, she can bring forth Armageddon". First of all, that is NOT how it works. You can't just be the harbinger of the end by casting magics and shit to completely wipe out the human civilization and then call that an Armageddon, no
I hear it's delicious
I've been so busy and missed the last 2 threads... I'm amazed my love for Georgie has either spread to others or encouraged others to post more about her; she's just perfect and I glad she's being acknowledge as best girl.
Last episode was great and we got to see Georgie without her maid cap, and also we now know she is a happy nappy girl (i.e. a woman who gets healing sleep and therefore a green flag).
Isn't Quetzalcoalt also known as the white Tezcatlipoca?
>Kobayashi can probably ask Tohru to turn her into a dragon
>but that would probably mean she needs to actually be with Tohru
>choose to die a mere mortal instead of being a degenerate lesbian
I can respect Kobayashi.
Uhoh, are you one of those guys that believes domestic dub releases actually benefit the studio that made the production? I hope you know that distribution rights are literally a drop in the bucket, and that fee is the only money the studio will ever see from foreign releases. All profits go directly to paying the mortgages of Funimation's upper brass.
Yes, Tezcatlipoca is a title of the 4 cardinal direction gods who also represent the elemental colors. White, Black, Blue and Red, and who are celebrated in the New Fire ceremony to feed the sun and prevent the cosmic skeletons from descending to end the world.
Well said, anon. Have a Georgie for your troubles.
I thought that Tezcatlipoca means "Smoking mirror"
That sounds pretty fucking scary.
