Alright, here's my honest opinion on Kobayashi's Meme Dragon.

Its a good anime. The concept of having a dragon girl cosplaying as a maid to be a maid for someone who 'accidentally' saved her from the verge of death is pretty nice. Besides, I may have been living under a rock, but you don't get to see dragons, a Meso-american god, and an Icelandic dragon as a human in an anime frequently, mainly because they're dragons. The show would be a perfection if it weren't for some flaws of course.

Alright, so a slice of life anime about a stoic programmer living with a dragon girl maid. In my opinion, what really flawed the show is the loli yuri thing going on between Saikawa and Kanna. Its a slice of life anime, not a yuri loli thing or whatever. Maybe they're just trying to show off Kanna's cuteness, but that would still be a flaw. I mean, it feels like the show is overfeeding you some moe shit instead of the real stuff, but thats just my opinion.

One more thing that really REALLY bugs me is the mythology. "Tohru being a dragon that's so strong, she can bring forth Armageddon". First of all, that is NOT how it works. You can't just be the harbinger of the end by casting magics and shit to completely wipe out the human civilization and then call that an Armageddon, no. Also, Quetzalcoatl is NOT a dragon. While the anime got some of Lucoa's alias' correct (Serpent goddess and something idfk), they didn't nailed it still. Although surprisingly, Fafnir is the only dragon that got his own lore correct, although his human form isn't a dwarf lmao.

WHY IS EPISODE 11 A CHRISTMAS EPISODE IT WASNT EVEN CHRISTMAS WHEN IT GOT AIRED. It was probably made during Christmas.

Anyway, another one is Tohru. Not just her, but also Kanna, Elma, Lucoa and Fafnir. Yes, I'm talking about the dragons. Dragons? Are they really dragons?

Overall the show is may not be accurate to the real thing, but its still gud. I like Kobayashi.

Honestly I'm disappointed we didn't get a little twist on the joke and see him smiling instead of doing his usual "titties are scary" thing.

I love Lucoa but they're not using her for anything other than the same exact ecchi joke each episode. It was funny in the sports festival episode and her bits at the beach were good, but I miss when we'd get parts of her personality in there too.

Same thing with Elma, she's at her best when she's interacting with Tohru and they show up like twice together. Food jokes are cute, but not when it's literally the same exact joke with no twist. I'll admit the candy-grab one was pretty fucking solid though

The theme isn't about multiculturalism, it's about how starting a family is a good thing. Kobayashi is the not-so-subtle husband, Tohru is the wife, and Kanna is the daughter. The show even makes a point of having Kobayashi develop from a lonely and monotonous salarywoman into someone who is being constantly reminded that she's changed for the better since her "family" was formed.

It's Funimation, so expect a lot of their usual guys; also expect a bit of obvious ad-libbing/paraphrasing to make the translations sound more natural.

Fafnir's boyfriend loses his job, and for the first time, he very seriously considers dipping into his hoard to help him make the rent w/o missing out on an auction for a rare fig. He reminisces on others who have threatened his hoard, including his brothers.
Fafnir's troublesome brother comes to visit the human world. He has to use his magic to keep people from freaking out, but he can't just enchant someone like his brother, so he has to slink around Sabrina the Teenage Witch style, using curses on individual people, and fending off snide remarks from Boobs McPedo.
Boobs McPedo's sister shows up suddenly as Shouta's new homeroom teacher. Revenge is afoot. There are several close calls. In the end, Fafnir eats the sister, so he and McPedo are even.
The one person who bought one of Fafnir's doujinshi is a fat gothic lolita cosplayer who takes wicca and shit seriously. She tries his spells, and they work. She keeps changing the whole world in ways only she remembers, and it all spirals out of her control. She is finally about to use the last spell to erase her own presence and undo all the other changes, when Tohru just reaches over her shoulder, plucks the book out of her hand, and waves her tail, visibly fixing everything w/ magic without so much as a word.
Fafnir finds out that Kobayashi is personally working on a game he is very interested in. He keeps doing dangerous or soul warping things to try to influence it's development, and Tohru has to keep undoing them. But she can only just keep up w/ Fafnir's lazy efforts. She ends up tearfully begging water piggu for help, and she agrees, but it doesn't really end until McPedo gets his boyfriend's help editing and posting a detailed invective on fans who try too hard to influence the creative process of the works they obsess over. So he just stops, leaving Tohru a paranoid mess as she expects the other shoe to drop.
Class field trip where dyke loli keeps trying to confess. Ends in a peck on the cheek.

That's a good thing and I wish they'd do this with Elma as well. Lucoa was introduced earlier than in the manga, shoved into a few more scenes and therefore made a relevant character. Elma was introduced in episode EIGHT(!). We're on episode eleven right now and barely anything has happened that couldn't have happened without Elma. I love the little glutton office lady dragon, but I wish they'd either have introduced her earlier (like with Lucoa) and then shoved her in a few filler scenes, or simply have postponed her to S2 (never).

Read the manga/watch the show more carefully. Lucoa not technically being a dragon is addressed.

And the loli yuri thing got a lot more scenes in the anime than it does in the manga. Mostly because the did some original content and pretty much just filled the space with the long running jokes attached to each of the characters. Shota and Lucoa got a huge increase in scenes compared to the manga as well.
