What? No. They attacked humans in the game too. There was a researcher left in a permanent coma due to them (Kako). It's the whole reason Mirai is pretty much the only human npc in the game since everyone else aside from her and the protagonist left the park's area.

The anime was the one that said a couple of episodes back that it seemed like they were after Sandstar from the Friends, but that kind of clashed with what the anime itself had also mentioned about them appearing in places where humans were.

I don't think Japan has produced a protag as good as Kaban in a good, long while.

Kaban doesn't have outstanding gimmick, isn't flashy, isn't a loud personality, and she isn't even a highschooler. She's not sexual, not sensual, and not even cheerful.

What she has is this yearning for life, friendship and sheer determination. She only has her mind to fall back on in order to help herself and her friends, and she never stopped using that mind. She really is the sapient human who never lets go of rational thinking and acting on the advice of her mind.

I don't see how Kaban can appeal to children or to teenagers. She isn't like Conan Edogawa or Lelouch as a thinking protagonist, not like Satoshi as an active protagonist, or any of the isekai protagonists. Kaban is so human, and I don't think that children or teenagers would want to self insert themselves as a mere human.

Okay, should I watch this? Will I enjoy it less now that I'm spoiled on main heroes dying?

The more I watch and rewatch the show, the more I like the CG and notice a lot of nuance in it.

I think some things that people initially thought were bad CG were actually intentional details, for example Serval's weird stride in the first few episodes. (Which I now think is supposed to anthropomorphize the way an actual Serval Cat walks.)

Although Kaban is the wisest protag this season with how much she uses common sense to the best of her ability. Tanya and Kobayashi may have years on her, but Kaban is a capable communicator, a doer while being a thinker. She had to do plenty of MacGyvering, problem solving and even team/HR management. To think that she could actually get a grip of herself after Serval's sacrifice without any training just blew me away.

Maybe it wasn't desperation but rather that they didn't want to let the newest tech get Cerulean-ized.

One thing I'd say (in response to earlier posts) is that I wouldn't necessarily assume the humans tried to nuke Japari park. If that had been the case there'd be a lot more damage, regardless of whether it took out the Queen/Sandstar/whatever. It's more likely they were trying to use conventional munitions on the Ceruleans, a theory backed up by the apparent UXO we saw.

Everyone is focused on Kaban today but I want to make a post to bring attention to Boss.

Despite being a simple robot, or so it seems, he also seemed to show amazing growth during this episode. Firstly, by reacting to Kaban's determination, giving her guide permits so she could do what she wanted to do, he recognized her and acknowledged her not as someone to be guided and protected but a guide and someone who wants to protect now. That he saw her as Mirai-san was heartbreaking because it tells you that Boss actually remembers Mirai-san and cherished her too.

But furthermore, during the chase scene, Boss would have gone awawawawawa when they got stuck on the tree branch before. Now? Not this time, he fucking smashed his face in to drive to get them out of they were.

Boss grew beyond being a simple robot this time, he overcame, outgrew his programming, and developed a will.

If you guys are recognizing Kaban for her developent, I beg of you to praise and recognize Boss' development as well. That while not as intense nor was the focus on the series, it was quite significant too.

On the surface you have cute things like the previous episode where they were trying to solve a mystery and the one where they tried to cook a delicious meal for the owls. It is ON THE SURFACE cute and fun. There is obviously dark themes, apparently from the very second the show starts but the niavete of everyone involved means it remains generally light hearted and cute.

Kaban's whole rescue operation was genuinely amazing, as was the little speech at the end, and the rest of the episode was some of the best this show has been too. But the "deaths" felt very cheap and like they were written after that good stuff to justify it happening. There's no reason why Serval and Kaban couldn't have gotten out of the way both times. Not with Serval's retard strength and the way the cerulean shut down. The dark stuff immediately lost me when it's pulled off like that, and we all know they're going to be fine by the end of next week.

Keep in mind the US is planning to keep the B-52s in service for another 40 years or so at least, and the damn things are already 60+ years old. Sometimes a design is so good or fulfills a need so well you can't replace it, even with much better tech available.

Shit the B-2 itself already has a replacement. Northrop Grumman took all the technological advances it made over the last 20 years to make the B-21 to replace it, which is literally the same fucking plane, just made much more efficiently and less maintenance intensive.
