The idea is to have Jean reign as a weak and ineffectual king who does nothing and lets the state bureaucracy (ACCA) and the provinces themselves manage everything. Since oil land has, well, oil, if they manage to keep a larger portion of the oil income they'll suddenly become a lot richer and will be able to use their wealth to exert more power across the country.

So in the end, Prince Schwann is the only hope left for the country. Let's hope he manages to foil the coup and punish the traitors.

This show has got to be top 5 AOTY material, Well for me at least.

They add in subtle hints you might or might not catch.
Build up to the whole Jean/Royal thing was superbly done.
The mystery of some characters are very impactful, Never expected Lillium to become such a huge thread towards the end when he didn't seem very important at all.

It was a simple story done in a beautiful way, I hope some more of her works get adapted.

I was about to argue there's no such thing, but luckily the show hasn't given any indication that there will suddenly be a massive and out of place battle in Dowa over the throne.

It'll be interesting to see what plan Jean comes up with as he's been rather passive this whole time, but I doubt just roll along with whatever outcome happens in the final episode. Also to see why the Liluim family think they can control Otus and what leverage they have over him.
