The manga is such an enigma compared to the anime it's so laughable. No one reviews it, rarely anyone gives it praise, and it's made by some shit fan fiction-tier artist/author. No, it's not "more canon" because Toriyama approves of it. It isn't written by him, nor is it drawn by him. Same goes for the anime, but at least that's more enjoyable than the terribly handled story-telling in the manga. The manga will never become anything outside of V-Jump and the volumes issued. When someone says "Dragon Ball Super," first thing that'll come to their minds is the anime, not the promotional, garbage manga. Toyble's involvement with this series was a huge mistake. He's bringing in material from his AF doujins, and even based one of the new God of Destruction from a GT antagonist. How bad is that? Only Toyble could come up with something like it. Toriyama doesn't care about Toyble, he's simply glad that he doesn't have to draw Dragon Ball anymore himself.

I actually wonder if the end result will be the revelation that the higher mortal levels only exist because in those universes, kaioshins and GoD have effectively wiped out all the strong characters, and no one threatens anyone anymore, so no one gets stronger.
Goku and crew will start to think maybe they are endangering everyone, and so they'll go on to train others.
Vegeta and Goku train Goten and Trunks, Piccolo visits namek to train them, etc.
Goku tells Satan that he wants him to host another tournament, but Satan says that takes time, and he probably can't get the stadium built for another couple of years.
So a couple more story arcs, with the kids growing up, before they get to Uub.

Since the tournament will allow for wins by ringout, which should make more tactical thinking help overcome the power level differences, I would say 17 and 18 might end up the least contributing in the long run. They have great power, but they didn't work for it, have no experience, might just brute force the fights.

Then we have Krillin, Tien and Roshi who are those more experienced fighters (especially Roshi might shine in some way because of the old master trope), but obviously low power level stands in their way.

Buu and Gohan have a lot o fighting prove, but Buu being Buu, and the weird fetish of people responsible for Super to make Gohan into the laughing stock of the series mean they might not be as useful as their strength would suggest.

Piccolo has a decent power level (should be above 17/18 now, obviously far below Gohan, Buu, Goku and Vegeta, but that still makes him the middle of the group), combined with relying on tactics, technique and overall smarts. Can contribute a lot.

Goku and Vegeta are obviously the absolute powerhouses here, also very experienced, the problem in their cases are their character flaws and saiyan nature. Should contribute the most, but some stupid shit might happen too.

So, in terms of contribution it could be something like that:
Goku & Vegeta > Piccolo > Gohan & Buu = Krillin, Tien & Roshi > 17 & 18

Early super, and up to and including the Zamasu arc, had a big problem with pacing. The animators couldn't keep up with the workload, and it ended up being rushed.

Not just animation, but the plot too. They went from objectively inferior retellings of two movies to a lacklustre U6 arc to a promising Zamasu arc full of missed opportunities, and finally this: a good old tournament arc that actually feels like Z again.
