Orga did wrong by allying himself with mcGillis and flying his ships to Earth to participate in his ridiculous coup without ever demanding from McGillis to reveal entirety of his plan or how is this whole thing supposed to work out. He endangered the entire Tekkadan with that single absurd decision. Everybody questioned if they could do it but Orga was like "yeah sure, it'll be fun." He halfheartedly threw himself into a revolution he didn't even try to understand because he didn't like that Tekkadan would have to lay low after breaking off from Teiwaz. Gotta go big and fast and all that shit. Had it coming. Finally it's not only his boys that are dying because of his decisions.

I really wish I had less anime viewing experience so I could be surprised by this show. The atmosphere at the end made it exceedingly obvious what was about to happen, you would have to be blind not to see yet another mafia drive by coming.

I actually like that this is going the war in the pocket route for its finale, this isnt some grandiose final fight of heroics, its a botched operation and the fallout/casualties that follow it. I am in no way saying that this is on par with 080, frankly no other gundam comes close especially the TV ones, but I do like that it broke from traditions with this even if it will be divisive. I definitely wish some things were handled better but I actually think this was one of the ballsiest entries in the franchise looking back on it, broke a ton of gundam cliches and tropes though mostly averted some and did in a few cases fall victim to the tropes.

Curious how it will hold up after the shitposting fades when the next entry comes out. Not sure why gundam as well as other series like it with multiple entires in their own universe always suffer from this "newest is the worst" syndrome, then whenever the next one comes out and is suddenly so much worse the one before it actually gets more valid critiques. FF and gundam get this especially bad.

I actually remember going to a gundam panel by a guy who works at ann and apparently wrote a few reviews for the franchise, the only entry he was really negative on was 00, he even defended G-reco as being pretty decent after its initial confusion. Aeolia wasnt made into a good guy. He had a plan and even if it's goal was something good he and his organization still did morally questionable things. His end goal was to stop human conflict so they can be united when reaching out for the stars and in the case the face an external threat.

Gundam in general has always had characters with very flawed ideologies severe lapses of judgement, some more apparent than others. Whether or not it's shitty writing or whether or not people mistake flawed thinking for shitty writing is another discussion, but IBO's been going for nearly 50 episodes and it hasn't done anything for its characters other than making them out to be literal retards.
Mika has been nothing but a murderhobo for the entire show, all the jobbers and even the Kai clone do nothing but lap up to Orga's shit to further boost his winy "muh burden of leadership" shit,
McGillis went from competent chuuni to a caricature of char clone and the Garma clone's entire character became "muh revenge" with no other feature to define him. And I'm not even going to talk about Atra's brainwashing into polygamy, Naze's harem of cannon fodder or Kudelia's complete incompetence in general. The "they're only dumb kids playing adults" logic only works when we have some sense of development for their characters or ideals, like in 0079

Most of the older ones (e.g. Rustal, Makanai, McMurdo, etc.) are very clever and have made very few mistakes. It's actually nice that they show people who shouldn't be Machiavellian geniuses for their age, constantly fucking up.

Basic decision making /= leading a interplanetary mercenary company/business in a solar system where almost everyone has been playing this chess game for decades before you were a tickle in your dad's sack.

Most of the orphans couldn't even read. McGillis, Lok, Gaelio, Kudelia, etc. were either sheltered because of their status or, in McGillis's case, being abused from the starting gate. These aren't well-adjusted, effective people here. They're all damaged goods being used as pawns by the older generation. Their ONE saving grace is often innate ability. Oh, and luck.

The fact that everyone isn't running around with one hit kill weapons has made this series a lot more enjoyable than most Gundam series for me. Even those railguns weren't one hit kills for capital ships.

After the whole Hashmal thing I think they use blunt weapons because nanolamanate armor protects mobile suits from laser weaponry and so they just naturally shifted back to using solid weapons that can crush and pierce through it.

It's kind of weird to think about it that way, like the even regular MS' could eat multiple shots from beam rifles, which are usually instadeath in other Gundam shows.
