Anime is geared to appeal to the lowest common denominator of japanese society. Either children and teenagers, or adult otaku.

The latter are the ones that have money to spend, so this is the target audience of love stories anime most of the time. Also the only other target demographic interested in love stories are shoujo series, but they won't have good writing since their audience is teenaged girls.

Anyways, these otaku are the kind that rejected reality and decided that investing his effort and energy on fantasy worlds would make him happier, since he was rejected by the real world. For these anime, anything resembling irl logic makes the otaku reject the whole series, like the girl having an ex, or the guy being a not-mary sue that isn't a bland piece of shit that's liked by everyone for no reason.

Japan will never produce a good love story anime as long as it's audience is teenaged girls and autists.

I think that the only reason why garbage like Romeo and Juliet is still regarded with such reverence is because of historic, rather than artistic, reasons. It was highly influential in the past. Therefore, it must be great art. It certainly was influential, but it's still a superficial love story which Shakespeare actually stole from people like William Painter and Arthur Brooke.

A preque sounds amazing. I really hope we get to see Holland and the gang before the events of the series. However, I'm not too excited about the other movies. There's no way they can tell the plot in just 2 movies without destroying the pacing and removing a lot of stuff.

One of the most important parts of E7 was its relaxed pacing and smallish character roster. With 50 eps they had enough time to build a lot of the relationships and develop the characters. Even if Eureka was a massive cunt for a good portion of the series, her relationship with Renton developed nicely. Even the annoying kids grew on me.

I guess they can't be as bad as Eva rebuild.

Plastic memories was rushed but I think it did a decent job, guy fall in love with an android that is scared to die, I've always said they could have squeezed 2 seasons out of it, but with the entire show being over a time-span of 3-5 months I feel that emotional attachment was hard to achieve besides that which is based on the pity of her imminent death...

Overall 8/10 if they would have had a year to live and not worried about it while they were just starting the relationship, it would have been easily 9/10 if not one of the best romance anime.

Romance stuff is mostly Shoujo stuff aimed at teen girls. Anime producers just aren't picking it up because they don't think it will sell well to their main demographic: basement-dwelling otakus who spend thousands on collecting BDs and figurines and dakis.

That said it's growing. Next season has yuri NTR romance anime, bald monk romance anime, and some third romance anime that I forget.

I recently reread some of the earlier volumes and the manga chapters with Yakumo and Harima are some good shit and Eri's sports festival etc. chapters are great too. I still don't know how the author made Eri and Yakumo so appealing, but the man did an amazing job.

The Nadeshiko part of the name is a wildflower. The keyword here being "Wildflower" which means this bitch can survive the winter and bloom again the next spring

Combine this with ancient societal norms of how women are supposed to behave and you get the archetype of Yamato Nadeshiko, that speaks of the ideal Japanese doormat housewife who nonetheless contains within her an iron will. Yamato nadeshikos tend to act all shy and demure, but when push comes to shove they got your back 100% being Determinators as fuck, that is what the character is meant to be.
