>we destroyed their HQ
I'm hoping they only went this road with Anson to pave the way for a s2 with Mary Sue as the main antagonist
It is a alternative reality with a god like being pulling strings in the background. Full realism would be boring.
Anson raised instantly in threat level. I guess after the last time he was bayonet raped, he wanted something for more close range.
Is what I'm thinking.
That way we have a developed main enemy for the next episodes and for S2 it'll give Mary more of a reason to hateboner our favourite war loli.
>Manned v-1 rockets
>Mechanized infantry with Panzer-3's
I give it 9/10 just because of extra smug Zettour
>giving grantz character development
>actually giving him a personality
>letting us know his strengths and weaknesses
>setting up chemistry between him and visha
>all to kill him off this episode
fuck NUT man, FUCK THEM
>WW1 vs WW2 bullshit again
do people not understand the idea of an alternate history
then again, how the heck did notFrance and notGermany get into a trench warfare stalemate if they already had WW2-era planes and tanks?
>Tanya's team hits wrong target to cut back on animation
i already felt cockblocked last episode with the cliffhanger. I don't feel satisfied at all. Next episode better be worth it.
You really thought he was going to survive after laying hand on Visha and getting his boxers in a twist about following orders?
If NUTs want to follow t he LN he's the prime source of killing off someone that has some depth to him since they can't kill off any of the squadron commanders.
Well it seems that warfare and technology progressed to quickly for people to really understand how to best do shit. People still haven't adapted to aerial mages so it's believable that they don't really understand how to best use planes and tanks, yet. It seems like planes are more considered as expensive counter-mage devices primarily, and probably so many got destroyed in the Rhine, that they stopped using them there. Mages can shoot down planes after all, they'll just take large casualties.
As for the tanks, I'm just going to pretend they were WW1-era. They didn't really say much about them and it really doesn't make sense for them to be WW2-era.
The planes during the Norden bombing depot run were 1920s bombers, the transport plane next episode was more ww2ish, the Germans used the pzw3s in the lastes episode like a ww1 commander would, sending them in front of infantry at a slow pace in a mixed unit.
For all we know, those pzw3 are new models and they don't really know how to use them in massed spearhead formations.
>He fell for the free market meme
>when SONZAI EKKUSU demands you pay a 45% worship tax for all magical deeds performed
Isn't this a war crime?
Not if they're retreating directly at you.
This says it's not, it's a war crime if you kill surrendered forces or those unable to fight.
So LN fags how much of this was Tanya's plan and how much was Zettour's?
It looks vaguely like how the Germans went through the Ardennes in WW2. YS' Frechmen didn't think that the trench fortifications could be breached like they did, and it was done with combined mechanized combat units. It is essentially the blitzkrieg in all its glory so I can't imagine Zettour came up with it.
Moreover, was there ever a battle that went like this in history? The complete liquidation of the enemy's main army so the country can't fight back. The French in WW1/WW2 didn't have their troops suffer such a fate.
>I'm hoping they only went this road with Anson to pave the way for a s2 with Mary Sue as the main antagonist
For what it is worth, the Chinese official streaming site had claimed that Youjo Senki is a split cour. But since it is the only site that say this take it with a bucket of salt.
>mfw I didn't notice that
I don't care, that's great.
After you conquer the world who is going to punish you for war crimes?
Holy shit Tanya couldn't have raised more deathflags for her battalion even if she tried
Don't ask, don't tell.
It's not like they speak French anyway.
People forget that Youjo Senki is set in 1925, almost ten years after when the original World War I was fought. The big theme of the story (like in the real World War I) was that the technology for modern war was there, but commanders didn't realize how to use it properly. This time period allows for lagging technology and ideas while the newer Nazi-era weapons and vehicles could conceivably have been developed early.
It's likely this is the first time the tanks have been deployed like this. Otherwise, the problems of the first episode about being slowed down due to trains wouldn't have been an issue.
>like in the real World War I) was that the technology for modern war was there
It wasn't there at the start, and there's no way they would've got stuck like that if they'd had decent tanks.
Just enjoy Tanya's cute, "I'm going to violently
Did anyone notice earlier in the series the Entente alliance bombers were based off WW2 British planes like the Lancaster or Sterling and the tank in this episode was obviously the Ausf. J (longer barrel) variation of the Panzer III?
>It wasn't there at the start, and there's no way they would've got stuck like that if they'd had decent tanks.
Maybe. They had mages since the start of the war and used them like how air power was used in World War I, as artillery spotters and dog fighters, rather than as heavy bombers or low air gunships.
Tanks haven't been seen Youjo Senki before Episode 10, and when they debut, it's during a blitzkrieg.
Combat mages could very well have prevented wide-scale implementation of tanks, if you don't have air superiority your expensive metal box is just going to get blown to shit by a magic bullet, and if you do have air superiority you can just break their lines by blowing the shit out of them with your magic bullets.
Very good reasons
If it was a communist society that low born assassins would have been head of the secret police. Instead he is a low born assassin, easy come easy go.
But they do use the mages for bombing when they can
That's actually a logically consistent AnCap position.
If we worship god because he is powerful then it's no different than worshiping a phenomenally powerful evil alien overlord.
People will say they worship god because he represents perfect morality, but god cannot be moral because he violates pretty much every single moral commandment he demands of humans while offering no rational explanation for why that is ok, thus we're right back to worshiping a very powerful evil alien.
In other words, Sonzai X can fuck right off.
>People will say they worship god because he represents perfect morality
Who the fuck says that?
>but god cannot be moral because he violates pretty much every single moral commandment he demands of humans
Oh really? When?
Please don't turn tread into theology shit.
So can somebody run this by me - What does not-UK hope to achieve at this point given that the majority of not-France's western lines have been decimated and routed?
Even if they manage to take out Tanya at this point, not-France has lost the capability and manpower to continue fighting.
>Thou Shalt Not Kill
Jokes on you, the commandant says "Thou shalt not murder"
ok I will stop then
Did you know that mankind has had several world wars before the first world war?
So, is the main character going to die in the end of this? This Entity X really fucking hates our Protag and keeps sending troops telling them her plans
What a fucking spoil sport cheat of a mother fucker.
Is there any place translating the LNs? I can't wait another week or two for another episode
>Nine Years' War
No Africa or Oceania.
>War of the Spanish Succession
No Africa, Oceania or Asia
>War of the Austrian Succession
No Africa, Oceania, Asia or South America.
>Seven Years' War
Same as above.
Anime is the farthest one ahead in translations. The LN translation hasn't even gotten past the Fjord battle and only slowly translates 1 ch every 3 months, so I've heard. You're better off just learning Japanese yourself at this rate or just waiting for the anime to finish.
The only ones that come even close are Seven Year's War and Napoleonic Wars. You can't really count the Seven Year's War as it didn't involve the Ottomans, and only the countries that were NOT involved in the Americas consider the concurrent wars in the Americas as part of the Napoleonic Wars. It's very debatable to call them world wars.
My prediction as to what may occur ep 11/12.
Tanya's battalion will predictably suffer massive losses fighting through the skin of their teeth, but just when the UK mages has the nip in the bud, Colonel Isaac Drake receives orders to withdraw when they are finally updated that the Republic has lost, and there is not point joining a war they cannot win by themselves. Anton however, blinded by religious fervor, remains to pursue the 'Devil'
Not sure, LNs vary wildly. I'm not really an expert when it comes to LNs but a few titles come to mind. Overlord is probably the closest feeling one to Youjo Senki that I know of. Spice and Wolf makes economics pretty fun and interesting. Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku has good characters and development but you should wait a few more months for all the translation drama to die down.
I kind of wish that the magic element of the show was more then just explosions, flying and force fields.
Kind of raises the question why even have magic if it's only going to be that weak
They're not weak. Like Tanya says, mages are on the level of attack helicopters. Which are a pretty powerful thing for this level of tech.
And now I realize Youjo Senki is about a man who literally sexually identifies as an attack helicopter.
Well, Tanya is not fighting with the full strength of her battalion, just the 11 elites she used to carry out the last mission.
It will be quite the slaugther, but the rest of her 37 or so units should be alright back in the HQ
Weak in the sense that it might as well not be magic. If all you can do is explosions, flying and force fields.
I know that they showed one illusion spell but even that is criminally underused
Thats just the on battle application of mages. As seen in recent episode with Anson charging his shotgun bullets, mages can do quite a lot, but on the battlefield most are too impractical.
I think they really missed an oportunity when Tanya said to use "camouflage magic", that they did not become cameleon-like patterned, and instead just simply seemed to... do nothing.
There's more. It's just that those three things are the most effective to use simultaneously on the battlefield. Generally you can do only one thing at a time, it's only their equipment that allows them to maintain flying and force fields, while still allowing them to attack. So the illusions aren't shown that much, because they leave you a sitting duck, and since our viewpoint is a side that is always attacking rather than defending.
They are used in manga. And actually even in the first episode where Tanya fights the Republics mages she uses it.
Its just that in most battles so far, the overwhelming firepower is on Tanya`s unit side, so illusions come secondary to speed and force.
True, and it'd likely that that was the main use of mages prior to aerial mages. Actually that may explain why the new trainees were failures in illusion magic. If illusion magic is considered an antiquated tactic.
It's said that in the past, mages could do a lot of different stuff like turn lead into gold, perform miracles, etc.
It's just the explosions/force fields is the most economic, optimal way to use magic now. Just like how war converged on use of assault rifles at 200m instead of sending out flaming war pigs.
>It will be quite the slaugther,
You do realize that Tanya has the elite of the elites in her current squadron, and they're all armed with Type-97's?
The British battalion they're facing is going to get its shit wrecked. The only worry is Anson, who was angry enough to survive a rifle blast to the face when Visha last saw him. Anson has actually prepared for this battle so unlike Tanya he has the advantage of surprise.
What you're gonna do if Tanya call you Onii-chan?
Visha scored a direct hit and he just shrugged it off.
How the hell can the alliance even recover?
I mean if they managed to get rid of Tanya the main force is still wiped out.
Are they going to get nukes during WW1 and eliminate the Empires main forces when they're all gathered together in victory??
>tfw we will never get a MILF Tanya wasting charlie in Vietnam
Is Being X's plan to get everyone to become super monks to force Tanya to pray harder?
>Why even have trench warfare when you got tanks to roll over trenches? Where were they hiding the armored and mechanized infantry throughout the war?
It's been said several times in this and the previous thread, the tanks were developed as a solution to the trench warfare.
But since it's 1925, instead of 1914, instead of the shitty boxes that were called tanks during World War I, you have !notPanzer II and !notPanzer III's in small numbers.
Got a pic from friend. What would you do when you saw this in game?
So how does HC work? Rudersdorf is a full general and the highest ranking officer in the series, but we've seen other guys like Scherise (an LGEN) who aren't in the HC yet Zettour, a BGEN is. Why is that?
Also, if the conquest of France really is his idea, he and Rudersdorf are two of the most competent generals history has ever seen. More competent than Hannibal, Napoleon or Bradley, closer to Caesar or Alexander.
I dunno, all that testosterone and the adrenaline high after fighting in combat has to go somewhere. In addition to that, being stuck in a confined space with a busty woman like Visha doesn't help.
Because it's not WW1 timeline, it's 1920s not 1910s, the lack of first WW also removes the resource deficiency that would occur due to losing a war so recently which in turn allowed highly militaristic Empire to advance their tech into WW2 era.
Will Tanya ever find love and be a
wouldn't keeping Anson alive and kicking change a lot of things, away from the LN/manga?
I mean, sure the author loves putting overhyped child soldiers in war, but wouldn't keeping Anson alive stop Mary Sue from enlisting one way or another?
Repost for Web Novels Readers: https://www.wlnupdates.com/series-id/57189/
I'll see what I can do anon, just as long as it hasn't been done already.
Here's one I did before already.
"first lieutenant weiss who is under recuperating wants chocolates, therefore, could you please spare some"
"if for the sake of her subordinate"
"chocolates major keeps secretly, would you please spare us a few of them!"
"chocolate is the favorite thing of first lieutenant weiss who is injured and taking a rest, thus we would like to get some for refreshing his recuperating"
"you are cute suprisingly"
"I'm glad about it from the bottom of my heart though"
"could I eat?"
the last few in particular REEEEKS of proper japanese grammar
>Hannibal, Napoleon- both were terrifically competent.
Both took advantage of new tactics but were unable to adapt back against men who studied their tactics. Scipio defeated Hannibal and Wellington defeated Napoleon.
Zettour/Rudersdorf have merely appropriated later tactics for use during World War I, like the blitzkreig and inchon landing. The real test is whether they can successfully conquer Britain, because neither the Kaiserreich or the Third Reich had any real prayer of occupying it.
Tanya's team hitting the wrong target was great. She's invincible so taking her out of the action and leaving it to the mooks actually gave the scene some tension.
It's not like there were mage dogfights, so there was no interesting combat to animate to begin with.
She used the word "itazura", which doesn't have that serious of a connotation. She's probably talking about night creeping, IE making a move on someone in the middle of the night, not literally shoving it in while she sleeps.
Anson's probably taken the place of Mary Sue. The joke is probably lost on the Japanese audience given the disgusting prevalence of those types of characters in Japanese media.
It's not because they don't want to breakthrough the trenches but because they are too occupied in Norden so the Empire couldn't afford to have a concentrated attack until now. Then again I haven't seen Republic use it, maybe only Empire has it in this war?
>"First lieutenant weiss who is under recuperating wants chocolates, therefore, could you please spare some?"
The comma usage isn't terrible here. If you read style books, some style guide recommends placing after "therefore" but others say they are optional. You can also argue that comma should be inserted with the non-essential clause, "who is under recuperating" but the modern tendency is to omit them.
>"if for the sake of her subordinate"
That looks like a typo more than anything. The overall translation obviously isn't well edited.
>"chocolates major keeps secretly, would you please spare us a few of them!"
Yea, this is bad.
>"chocolate is the favorite thing of first lieutenant weiss who is injured and taking a rest, thus we would like to get some for refreshing his recuperating"
If you are referring to using a semicolon before thus and then a comma after, that's rule is kind of obsolete these days. In terms of style, it's obviously better to split the two clause. "Refreshing his recuperating" is obviously incorrectly.
>"you are cute suprisingly"
There is nothing wrong with the adverb placement here.
>"I'm glad about it from the bottom of my heart though"
Can you explain what you think is wrong about this?
>"could I eat?"
You are right.
If you speak Japanese then you can tell the translation you posted is pretty liberal. I would use the other sub over this one.
Its less about being straight up wrong and more about being strange, the subs are written using a lot of the original japanese grammar which while technically correct english, isn't actually used by anybody, especially native speakers, causing it to stick out like a sore thumb.
Are you able to typeset? I'm a little busy so I'll finish the last 2 parts soon, so going to post this. Sometimes getting Kanji I don't know holds me up when it's not text.
Tanya: "It's wedged, I'm sorry I'll take it out immediately!"
Rerugan: "Ah, I see... your hair is caught."
Zettour's voice is amazing, and he even mentions Hannibal
quora is such a bullshit hivemind zero IQ site. fuck you in all holes, slut!
now, get on your knees and HONOR THE JINGOS!
Tanya: "It's wedged, I'm sorry I'll take it out immediately!"
Rerugan: "Ah, I see... your hair is caught."
Rerugan: "...It seems to be difficult for you."
Rerugan: "Here, I'll do it."
Rerugan: "I didn't think it was much, but if I cut off enough, we will be enemies."
Need someone to typeset this.
I just noticed there are pieces of his barrier all over right after he was shot. He might still be alive after all.
The doujin artist who's doing the TanyaXVisha did a cute little comic before its release tomorrow.
Too bad most of her work is Mob 100 yaoi
Also pretty shit that her website has a password only nips know
At least there is someone there to catch him unlike what happened to Anson. A cool thing I'd like to see is if Anson uses the falling body as bait to pick off some of the 203rd. I'll give the show an instant 10/10 if that happens.
That looks weird. For some reason it makes me wonder how long it'll take Shadman to do something with her. If he drew motherfucking Hilloli, there's no way he wouldn't draw Tanya.
Why is Visha such a miracle of the fucking universe, holy shit
>yfw he will draw something akin to this
Hannibal's battles against the Roman Empire was similar except Rome just raised completely new armies to replace their destroyed armies.
From what i know of military history, what you're asking for did not exactly happen, to my knowledge at least. Rather, it was mainly destruction of large units in battles/campaigns. For example, during the island hopping campaign of the pacific theater of WW2, japanese armies were completely destroyed at each island that was cleared by the americans. In the eastern front of WW2, whole large units of both sides were completely destroyed, most famous examples being the Soviet armies in the beginning of operation barborossa and the german 6th army at Stalingrad.
But complete destruction of armies doesn't necessarily mean defeat. Examples include the Tet offensive, in which VC forces were decimated but put the USA on the path to leave japan and the initial victories of japan against the U.S. in WW2, when they practically sunk the whole US navy at pearl harbor and capture of most US forces in the Philippines as POWs.
Another hilarious chapter, praise the mango.
You got me.
Guro/ryona is fine, I'd rather see someone else draw it though.
>ywn fight side by side with this cute slav.
Why even live?
Is that all of them? Maybe tomorrow afternoon or the day after anon. I'm still waiting on someone to typeset the last one I translated.
My dad called me a faggot but i know he's just jealous that he'll never be able to appreciate middle-aged-business-men-lolis the same way i do.
Night crawling is an old Japanese tradition where men would sneak into women's rooms who they were interested in and slip into bed with her. They'd keep their identities concealed, and would then have sex with the woman if she consented to it. That's what it was referring to.
SonzaiX didn't make Tanya a soldier
SonzaiX made Tanya a helpless orphan loli that had no way of not getting conscripted in a losing war in the future.
SonzaiX probably thought that the entire hopelessness of the situation would've been enough to break Tanya and that's why he didn't even intervene until after Tanya somehow managed to land herself a comfy spot in the backline.
I'm not good at it either but I'll use the bit here >>154764055 since the rest of the comic has Rerugen telling Tanya to take care of her hair(as a woman) or something like that.
T: I'm sorry! I'll remove it at once!
R: A-ahh... your hair huh...
R: It'll be quite difficult for you to do it right?
R: Let me do it.
R: I don't think it would be like that but,
she probably can't stand having her hair torn up
* No trust in Tanya
How come Tanya is a mage though? Did Sonzai X just give her powers and thought, "Yeah, no way she'll think of joining the military." It's either Tanya being born with powers is beyond his control or Sonzai X has bigger plans beside converting an athiest.
She's a mage to make it apparent to her that she will end up getting conscripted no matter what she does with her life.
And as some anons said before, it also makes her completely unadoptable to good families since nobody would want to adopt conscript bait.
Translating Japanese strictly into English is supposed to well, from what I know something you should avoid and only focus on getting the meaning and subject matter presented as best as possible. Both translations work for the normal reader cause they tackle the same subjects but how they are presented changes how its perceived entirely. Dialogue is a hard thing to translate and its much easier to do regular paragraphs.
Yeah i doubt they killed him but in reality the impact with the water would most likely finish him off. Also there's the dilemma of retrieving him before he drowns while being shot by the enemy.
I doubt X cares about anything else but screwing over Tanya.
If X wanted the Empire to be utterly crushed, she would have placed Tanya in Ententeˇs or Republics side.
If X wanted the Empire to go into the 1000 year Reich mode, he would not have agitated all the other mayor powers to launch their offensive ahead of schedule.
As said before, X probably did not foresee that a single loli might actually tip the scales of the first massive war a bit on the Empires favour, so now he has to start calling upon a crusade to kill a single battleloli
>But he didn't intervene until the test, where he actually helped her.
Xˇs "inspiration" was what made Scgrügel or whatever that mad scientist was strap a potential nuke around her neck in the first place.
X set her up, not helped her. And after that "miracle", Tanya gained such a powerboost that she would be forever used in frontline combat.
Anon lad you may have just fucking said the obvious we were all forgetting which lead to Super Anson (regardless of being an anime original) it would be the perfect way to push further his motives and force his agenda on Tanya, ha!
Hmmm, does the "No trust in Tanya" part make sense with that version? I think it matches better where Rerugen is nervous about removing too much hair from the context that I see.
Or the Devils. Do mind, that Anson and most of enemy nations see Tanya as walking slaughterhouse.
It might shake you up a bit if you were killed by a man guided by god, start to pass on to the afterlife... already see the face of divinity..
And the devil dragged you back to life, to fight another day, another war for her.
>or Sonzai X has bigger plans beside converting an athiest.
Well, he does. It may be a bit less apparent in the anime due to how they worded his relic talk during the type 95 experiment episode but he's using Tanya to drum up religious fervor in the world
Nah, iirc the next page has him saying that women's hair shouldn't be harmed and he just unravels Tanya's hair from his pin thing, which he most likely just did to try and avoid getting into Tanya's bad side.
15 million hours in mspaint. I should focus more on just editing and if there are problems I can fix them later when others bring them up.
What the fuck happened to the previous thread?!
I just had a thought about the weird room in the submarine they sleeped in.
Could be the torpedostorage that was empty and a provisional bunkbeds for the guest of the 203rd.
That would actually make alot more sense considering how she walked in.
This was the closest image I could find from google.
Its just a fantasy room. No submarine wastes space like that.
Seeing how many EOP can't get "your" and "you're" right, the whole "should of"/"would of" shebang, I think it's reasonable to assume that a random Japanese artist spelled homophones wrong.
Many english native speakers fuck up "your" more often because they learned the language by speaking it while people who arent native speakers had to learn it in school by writing it.
If he survives then he's having nightmares about Tanya punishing him as if he had been caught on the act.
Would have been funnier if VIsha had punched him a dark eye and then he gets bullied by the rest of the squadron commanders.
Salaryman is autistic about social signaling. A shitty or abuseively raised child is a black mark on the parents themselves.
She would be like most women alive: Concerned and doing exactly what the society expects her to do. And that at that time would to be a loyal wife and a good mother.
What did NUT mean by this?
Also, i'm only starting reading the novel, and i'm interested: will soviets join the war? If yes, will tanya fight them? And how they will be shown: just like notFrench an notRoyalproperty, or some other way?
Yes and it gets bogged down in a shitty meatgrinder winter war where Tanya spends more of her time bitching about logistics and other mundane matters than aiming for Elite Course™
If I had to guess this novel is about russia.
You know with the winter and all.
>This says it's not, it's a war crime if you kill surrendered forces or those unable to fight.
That is the thing, those soldiers did not surrender, and they WERE able to fight and WERE armed to do so.
It is not a war crime at all.
It would be a warcrime if they dropped their weapons, raised their hands, kneeled and declared they surrender, but this was not the case here.
Can't have war crimes without war cameras
She is still 12.
Dakia was conquered in the Fall, while Norden fell sometime in early Winter. The Battle of the Orse Fjord happened before Christmas.
It's now May 25, not even a year has passed.
Most of the volumes are dedicated to the cruicble that is attempting to conquer Russia.
Which is actually good, because the Third Reich should have done that first instead of air bomb Britain.
So Pierre Michelaud de Lugo is apparently !notdeGalle. I wish he had a more obvious name like "Sir Issac Dustin Drake", maybe de Gaul or something.
But if he exists, and goes into exhile, where is our beloved Philippe? World War I never happened so the Lion of Verdun never woke up.
So Rerugen is going to try to assassinate Tanya?
Nope. He will marry Tanya. And keep her only for himself.
Got so hard at this scene. How big of a dick do you think she can fit in there?
>Sonzai X said there too many people in the world for him to care
> Constantly mess with Tanya-chan for fun and giggle
watch on Crunchyroll mean you support the freaking show anon
Little Tanya scetch. I wanted to draw drunk Visha on left, but I'm too lazy to spend 3 more minutes on it
Anson surviving is pretty bullshit though.
He was bayonetted through the chest/gut, fire upon, and then fell into the freezing North Sea off the coast of notScandanavia. And you are telling me he survived god knows how many hours after all that while bleeding profusely in cold water?
Considering his eyes show he now has the god powers it's safe to say that he would have died without being x's intervention.
If he can save salarytanya from being hit by a train it shouldn't be too tough to save anson.
Why can't Allied Kingdom just mind their own business and stay on their goddam island?
