With a low budget, I'd probably try CG, with art assets from real life put through a filter to make it look artistic/drawn. I'd probably try to use that deep learning thing to get the right look of the artist if possible, though I'm not sure how practical that'd be.

I would think that we'd either get that one day, or have anime die out. I also think CG is inevitable for more and more studios to do, eventually becoming the norm, and then if they want to make it look like it's hand drawn they future advanced versions of Live2D, and deep learning methods to filter the frames.

I'm not sure it'll ever be possible to have AI completely do coloring as well but there's work being done to try that out, so an advanced version in the future may be able to help out studios as well.

To see experimental, innovating movies that are good you have to wait some time for someone to come and do it.

Yes and no. There are quite a few projects out there that do not live up to their full cinematographic potential because of budget and artist limitations. For example, Aria is great, but many people cite the animation as a weak point. Imagine how great it would be if it did have the animation to meet people's expectations for the story. Imagine if Blame! could get a high enough budget to hire tons of artists to get the exact look of Nihei's superstructures right. In the anime world, there is still more unique ideas because it's a medium not limited by the look of real life. What you draw is what you get and you can draw anything. That's also a bad thing about current CG, since CG is still quite limited in allowing free artistic intent to show itself.

Even if the ratio of good to bad works stayed the same, it would still be better if the entire industry had higher budgets, because then we'd still get a higher volume of good things coming out.

How in the fuck did this guy get so insanely good at fight coreography and panneling? This is really good, and I don't mean it just looks nice, it's actually very masterfully presented and structured, like from a technical standpoint it's still like holy shit that's good.
The panneling is so rough and even seems messy but in such a wonderful way, not unlike the core theme of beautiful things juxtaposed with ugliness and grit withing the abyss. It just feels so genuine and authentic, everything about it is pure sugar for the eyes.
Now if only someone would translate the story so I can read what the fuck's going on. Did Bondred drink that fluffy girl from vol. 4 or something? I'm so lost on the written aspect of this sublime piece of artwork.

Here's a rough translation of the first two pages of the following chapter. I thought I might as well post them since they're entirely lore based.

Hallow Abyss: Premonition

In the 5th layer of the ocean of corpses in the sandstone region we came across a scorpion with seven tails.

Each tail contained a poison powerful enough to melt flesh and bone and it had a set of seven. In addition to that it exceeded two meters in size.

We found the pitiful remains of all the men it had dissolved in a discolored portion of the sandstone
Their nests give off a characteristic smell, like that of vomit after it’s been dried up and set on fire. Those who have never used vomit as fuel for a smokestack will probably die.

I’ve decided to call them Kashuugashiras, their flesh isn’t very good for eating.

On the sixth layer while taking shelter from the rain we came across a creature that stays an egg as it grows up. The juveniles are ferocious but it’s not very difficult to cook them and they taste delicious.

It seems it can withstand the iron rain easily thanks to its shell・

They grow all throughout their life and have ridiculously long lifespans, the largest specimen was 30 meters tall.

Also despite being 30 meters tall it was every bit as ferocious. I’ll let those who come after me decide if they’re still as delicious. I’ll call them Daioukaburi (Great King Shell)

There were several varieties of “Shelled” mammals living inconspicuously in the city in the sixth layer, they were seriously cute. The shell they wear was probably meant for mimicry but they were frequently preyed upon by the sakawatari

They have sharp tusks that could work well for building shelters. They can be domesticated by people but they lash out with their teeth if you try to eat them so be careful. So much blood…

I decided to keep one for myself and am no longer troubled for a pillow. I’ll name them Yadone.
