She's been getting more creepy as time goes on. What's her deal?
Serious question: why hasn't deku at least put on some mass since the start of the manga? It's like he's not even trying to become a better vessel for OfA. He could be a lot bigger if he had been seriously lifting since the start of the manga.
I'd add to that pic her chibi appearance on top too.
But heck, the whole page is worth saving
>He couldn't wait until Monday
>Posts shitty bait as the OP in a desperate bid to keep the thread alive
>Posts the same bait that he's used in the last few threads as replies thinking no one will notice
>13 posts, 7 IPs
I bet he wanted to post some cute Ochako, that's all
In a surprise twist, Ochako murders Toga, turns to villany, and becomes the Sasuke of the series
>That plus ultra everytime
>Plus ultra fading into the background
>Your face when you realize AllMight is now effectively castrated
>Your face when you realize that Deku is still a pussy WHO JUST MIGHT ONE DAY BE GOOD ENOUGH TO USE 25% OF OFA ONE DAY in a shitty costume.
>Your face when none of the other heroes do any thing and there are no relevant easy to use throwaway villians to have cool battle against and be the antagonist and thrust of interesting adventures
I wonder if we're getting a another mass deletion today.
>one month left for it to come out with volume 8
What's wrong? Can't handle a little banter? If so, this not the place for you.
I dont read the manga, but thats ochako isnt it; the main lead female?
Whats happening to make her creepy??
So I finished the fuckhuge theory you were all pestering me about.
Put it on imgur. Did it in MS paint. http://imgur.com/a/WBf07

Guess you shared it with your redditfriends first.
Don't bother reading it, the manga fell from a fucking cliff in the last two arcs. Just watch season 2 of the anime coming up soon and then season 3 next year.
Someone should make an edit like this for her.
OK I've noticed this in anime post 2013 but why do some scenes seem to have sunglasses put over them? Is it so the brightness doesn't fuck with televisions or something?
>Don't bother reading it
>Just watch the anime of the exact same plot and characters
What kind of shit advice is this?
Every time I see this word in a post in these threads, I know it's you grapefag. I can actually attribute a voice to your posts now.
I'm bracing myself for this autism anon.
>Did it in MS Paint
Obligatory download GIMP if all you need to do is mux pictures recommendation.
It's not a post 2013 thing, it's a seizure prevention regulation after the Pokemon debacle. For example, the KLK Blurays are significantly more vibrant than the TV broadcasts.
>it's a seizure prevention regulation after the Pokemon debacle
Makes sense than
That's the show I first noticed it on. Don't know why I can't remember seeing filters like that prior to then.
Here's a scene that you may remember being washed out when the show was airing.
I still think it's bullshit, but I admire the amount of work and autism you put into this. By the way, why did you write that there may not be time to wait for the Viz translations? I don't really see what the hurry is.
Part 1: Huh? We Ochako now?
Part 2: Cool Deku is an unreliable narrator and this story is being followed as he was adding entries to his journal. I can dig this
Part 2.5: You can explain why the framing is on another person whenever the Narrator uses 'I' because they are showing us the state of that other person and in particular for Ilda, how disturbed he actually was despite saying he was "fine".
Part 3: No comment, all stuff we know.
Part 4: Interesting comparison between Bakugou and AfO
>Dat score comparison between Deku, Baku, and Ochako
You're starting to win me over
Also remember that Endeavor has the highest number of completed cases. He's technically the better hero.
>Side effects of Unparalleled idealism.
This is the shit I've been saying for weeks. I'm worried that his reflex to jump in and save everyone is going to get him killed (although I don't think he'll actually die)
Part 5: You are using Windows 10. I'm sorry
>Hori subverting typical love interest shenanigans
I'm still liking this
I'm still with you on the Ochako/Deku thing, Not sold but I can see this conspiracy start to outline itself. Although just cherrypicking scenes doesn't make a full case.
All in all I don't think Hori is going to kill off Deku but everything related to the narration and comparisons between Deku/Bakugou I dig.
Yep, pretty much any time the series gets very sparkly is when I noticed the screen dim.
Teacher/Frog: head canon. I don't think these two characters ever talk to each other.
Momo/Grapes is not canon. Only that one Itou Eight doujin supports this. And by volume MomoxTails has more doujin going for it.
DekuxGravity is pretty much the canon ship.
JirouxPikachu: Not seeing this on either but makes sense
>all the other text
No other sources. Kinnikuman can pull women with his baking skills so he'll get laid eventually.
I want to rub my penis on ochako's thick thighs
Literally nothing wrong
they're just trying to be edgy because everyone loves her
It's not that the character did something wrong, it's that Hori forgot about her.
>I have only seen the anime and I ship her with the MC,
Just got through reading the chapter.
Yknow, I really thought I could handle nobody having faith in Deku. Bakugou, Aizawa, Gran Torino...I could handle them not believing in the kid to have what it takes. But this? This crosses the line.
You have a young boy that has listened to every word that came out of your mouth as it were gospel. A boy that took the opportunity you gave him and ran to the end of his chain with. A boy who subjected himself to physical trauma that will no doubt make his twilight years a living hell just to emulate you. A boy who fought villains who murder grown adults because he knew you would do the same.
And you didn't fucking care.
>I didn't tell you because you were my fan
And therein lies the goddamn problem. You never saw Deku as anything more than a crummy otaku fanboy. Not once did you look at this kid's sacrifices and compassion and think he'd be the right person to be the symbol of peace. Not once did you see this guy influence his peers for the better and believe he could be the inspiration for all. Never did you see how incorruptible, how comically good-hearted fucking Steve Rogers of a good person he was and think he could be the one shining beacon of all things good and kind people could find solace with in the cold, soulless assembly line society that is Japan.
No, you wanted the smiling faggot with the beady eyes and stupid haircut to be your successor. You legitimately thought that cornball dipshit with a fucking hot topic belt buckle was the best choice to be the face of herodom.
I'm not even surprised you'd think giving the guy who can go intangible your super strength formula would be a good idea because of course it would take a nigga that overpowered to maintain your bloated ego. That's what that one line revealed: you don't care about being a symbol of peace. You care about All Might: the icon. You, like every other one of your weasel kind are more concerned about how you look to the adoring public.
All this time I thought you were above the showboaters jerking off to themselves in the mirror. I really thought you were different than glory chasers like Endeavor and Mount Lady, above the elitism. At least Endeavor was straight to his son when he was beating his ass for not cutting the mustard. You just lied to everybody in the span of a single sentence. You are literally no different to every single one of these faggoty vain LOOK AT MEEEE Booster Gold cunts in costume pulling cats out of trees for a signal boost. That's you.
And the worst part is that everyone expected the rest not to believe in Deku. We all knew everyone would see him as a disappointment. You were supposed to be different. You were supposed to treat him like one of your own. But you treated him like a charity case. You gave him a piece of your abilities just so you could go back to the clubhouse and tell everyone how you helped the poor widdle quirkless kid in between shots at hookers and blow or whatever you fucking degenerates do in your spare time.
You believed in mirio over deku. Style over substance. You wanted a goofball to sell merch instead of a guy who will go into the shit and come out the other end broken but happy because he saved lives.
You miserable fucking cripple. I hope Chisaki butchers you like a fucking goose. Fuck you. Fuck you.
>I'm sorry I didn't tell you how much we were looking for a succesor. But all you really needed to know Is that you're the perfect choice.
>I'm sorry I didn't tell you I had another candidates, really didn't think it was that important, since I had already picked you.
>I mean, yeah, I was told that this Mirio Kid was cool, but I saw potential in you for becoming the symbol of peace. And I gave you my powers and I've helped you this far because I believe that.
Honestly, All Might has done nothing wrong.
Deku is a faggot if he feels bad.
I don't think Deku feels bad because of All Might being a dick (which he wasn't), imo he feels bad cuz he knows if Mirio had the OfA the world would be safer
like All Might said, the world needs a symbol, currently not existing a symbol is what's making the villains all stirred up
Deku has to go from 8% to 100% while if Mirio had it he could already have been the new AllMight and the world not be as chaotic, that's why Deku is so insecure with himself
He should be. He fucking sucks both in skill and attitude.
He's not even early spiderman level and early spiderman was a mostly useless little prick who did things that lead to the death of the only father figure he's ever known.
They need villians.
Not HOLY SHIT BAD STUFF IS GOING TO HAPPEN SERIOUS SERIOUS SEINEN STYLE HAPPENINGS IS GOING TO OCCUR!!
Just guys who're dangerous but not so dangerous they have to shut down EVERYTHING to have things happen.
They can't fuck allmight up again to make things cool. They can't go to the well with deku ALMOST using 20% of allfor one and breaking multiple bones and being almost completely ineffectual.
He needs villians and situations to fight against and grow because of. The school setting is holding him back.
School isn't just something that happens in classrooms.
>By the way, why did you write that there may not be time to wait for the Viz translations? I don't really see what the hurry is.
I think by the time the official comes out it'll be even more obvious. Anyways next I'm going to write up about Shigaraki's interview with Izuku about Stain, All Might, and how heroes inspire legacies and how Ochako shows up at the end of said chapter to save Izuku - once I go in depth you'll be able to see it it's not really subtle
Bookmarking for posterity.
Though I don't think Ochaco's gonna be the greatest hero (because Jump), Deku being The Greatest Teacher really does make a whole lot sense.
And the Deku-Nana parallel is really interesting. I fully expect everyone's autism to come spilling out should we get more parallels.
>I want them to fight the Eight Precepts of Death.
These 4 seem to all have internships.
If they do get to fighting the 8 Precepts, I expect an even number of people on both sides.
So the question is: Who will the other 4 be?
Bakugou and Todoroki seem like a given, but they may be out entirely depending on when it happens.
You're doing a good job, anon. I had a lot of fun reading this.
Kinda makes me wanna make my own autistic slideshow for a theory about my observations of certain characters the manga.
I can see some of the students will be a teacher in the academy. Momo is the mos obvious one and probably Deku will be one too. And I feel that the president of class 1B will be one too
What if Deku gives some of his DNA to everyone in class 1A at the same time? Will everybody get equally get OfA?
I can see something like this happening at the end of the manga, something like Naruto in the final battle
>Though I don't think Ochaco's gonna be the greatest hero (because Jump)
That is precisely why no one has seen it. It is precisely the logic Hori is operating on. Were Ochako a boy you'd say "Wait a minute, this is fucking weird" during the fight against Bakugou in the Sports Festival
I mean, remember when Sakura fought Sasuke one versus one before Naruto? When Anzu dueled Kaiba before Yugi? Course you don't! Cause in a generic shounen, that shit never fucking happens!
The common assumption is that Editor-san would say no more than anything. Still, I won't deny that it would be one hell of a ride if it somehow happened.
Actually, since you're still here, do you have the volume raws or know where to get them?
I have my own theory to sperg about, but it requires nihongo since the Viz TL has a definite bias regarding it. (Also because it is, like your theory, something that no one expects in a shonen manga - especially since it would require writing on eggshells to execute correctly.)
Actually yeah, I can get you what you need. Search Nyaa for Boku No Hero or 僕のヒーローアカデミア
If you somehow can't get the raws off of Nyaa.se I will upload the raws for you - I don't know Japanese so I couldn't tell much about the narration.
I can't see how Kouda passed the robot test and how will he become a first class hero. I'd say as much he'd be a sidekick
>most op quirk
To be honest the fact that AFO lost to All Might in the first place seems like a serious asspull.
Oh and what's your theory? Does it involve third person pronouns, like how Assassin Class's "monster" was Kayano but everyone assumed it was Nagisa because of translation convention?
Hey dude I just finished reading all the Ochako will become the greatest hero theory.
I can dig it, but damn I dont think it will happen. Its a bit too outlandish and unlikely. But if it does and we find ourselves in like a year or so with it becoming true you deserve full praise for that.
Holy shit are the heroes boring as fuck in this manga. Most chapters I skim over rather than out right read them unless it's a villian chapter. Now bnha really does villians well. They are all super interesting and a hell of a lot more memorable than crybaby deku or chunni faggot fire/ice guy. Now Shiggy, Stain, AFO, and Overhaul these guys are fucking great and can't wait till we get another villian chapter.
She is doing stuff, Izuku just doesn't see it. See this "cloak presence" shit? That's Uraraka's moves. Toga(as Camie) knows them because Toga copies others. No I'm serious, look at how Camie pins Izuku in Chapter 107 or so, and then go to chapter 80
that was some delicious autism
a twist like that would be absolutely crazy
>most likely big dick because part nigger
Actually, you don't even need to go back that far - Izuku keeps pestering "Camie" about how her stealth is so good, and meanwhile Ochako is concealing her presence completely(in chapter 107). No this doesn't mean Ochako is a traitor - it's Gunhead Martial Arts. CQC.
I've understood when I've read the last chapter of training with Torino arc that the one who says "that kid, his name, will be hailed as the symbol of peace" was Torino's thinking and talking to himself. Not necesarily it's about a single person (or two people) narrating the whole manga. The format doesn't fit to it. There are lots of parts that neither Ochako nor Deku were expectators and yet the action is showed very detailed
You know, I don't know why I didn't think to do that before. I am retarded.
I'll look into the narration for you too while I'm at it. Of the raws I've seen, the narration rarely uses first-person pronouns (or any pronouns, because Japanese). But it IS usually in past tense.
Fun fact: Japanese literally does not have natural 3rd person pronouns.
They use kare and kanojo (he and she, respectively) as those because of foreign texts, but it's pretty rare to hear those used in spoken conversation (especially since they can also be used to mean boyfriend and girlfriend, respectively).
Instead they use things like "that person", the person's name/title, or just forgo the use of any indicator entirely and let context do the work for them. It's a nightmare for babby-tier translators
As for my theory: it's nothing as brilliant as the KAYANO TWEEST or even your theory. It's merely a character being not (entirely) what they seem, which could have some tasty ties with the lore. It's also something so obvious that Hori might as well be smacking us over the head with it. So it won't be something that changes our perception of the manga as we know it.
The only reason I'm being so cagey with WHO that person is is that I'm a turbo autist and wanna be the Cool Guy who points it out. The clues are so easy to sniff out that you guys would have it figured out in a heartbeat if I told you.
>There are lots of parts that neither Ochako nor Deku were expectators and yet the action is showed very detailed
Which is also a sign that using the first person narration as absolute truth is a bad idea, even before you get into the very strong indications that chapter one's narration was written down, and written down before chapter eight.
Oh about that, it seemed spurious but sure why not I'll share it with you
In one of the commentaries Hori says Stain is gonna come back in the story in a big way later
Stain's quirk is most effective against folks with type B blood(eight minutes)
Guess what type of blood Ochako has?
Chapter 8: Dekumom reads Izuku's journal and apologizes to Izuku for saying "I'm sorry Izuku!(You can't be a hero)"
Chapter 1, narrator Izuku: "I'm sorry Mom, what I wanted you to tell me was..."
Gran Torino? I know he went full vigilante, because he's a walking hint for someone else going full vigilante. It's quite possibly he was the "shadow" of another hero, since he's not in the records yet clearly shown with Nana.
Speaking of how does a Licensed Superhero becomes a Vigilanate? Simple, they become a Superhero by day, and another Superhero by night. Secret Identities.
Nope. But you do bring up an interesting point.
GT only got his hero license to be a teacher. That indicates that he was vigilante before that.
Which might indicate Nana was as well. Pretty neat to think about.
>Simple, they become a Superhero by day, and another Superhero by night. Secret Identities.
Yeah you heard of that new hero that has the same quirk as the well known gran torino and looks about the same but has a different outfit?
By the way, Overhaul is repeating arc-words here - Twice's chapter(115), Origin: Bakugou, Origin: Todoroki, and Re:Ingenium's arcs all have some variation of REMEMBER WHO YOU WANTED TO BE!
Have you heard of the vigilante Deku? He went hunting criminals outside the law after being disgusted by UA. He has super strength, and an iron will. Oh, but I love the rescue hero, Uraravity! Her quirk is not much, but she's so cute!
Yeah, of course they're two different people, the masked hero Deku, and Uraravity. One wears a mask and has super strength, the other has gravity contact powers. There's no way for someone to have two quirks!
Databook profile. If you want to laugh/cry look at Izuku's heroic suitability
But.. there isnt.
Hybrids like Todo exist, but if ice todo was a vigilante and fire todo was a hero, everyone would know who he is.
And if he's a hero in the first place, there's no point for him being a vigilante. Your hero licence doesnt stop being legal when night falls.
Actually why not, I'll share Izuku's heroic suitability - Databook stuff to me is always spurious but here it's a bit pointed
>Midoriya Izuku’s Hero Suitability
>Lost without self-sacrifice
>He can’t help others if he himself is in trouble. This is an important and critical aspect of a Hero.
Anyone think Tsuyu and Ochako are with Kaede and Sasuke? You know, those other two guys who were with Mirio?
Well, I can see Ochako getting OfA as a very nice plot twist. If Hori liked Naruto and Bleach, it would make sense.
What I find weird is everything about Twice (it's unrelated to OfA and AfO). Hori said that he will never going to do a daily life of a villain because they are bad, he doesn't want to people to empathize with them and he likes them to keep in that way. Yet, we have an entire chapter about Twice and his troubled daily life. About how he's trying to be normal, despite his crazy (not evil) split personality. Even so, he's been never showing doing anything absolutely bad like murdering or stealing or even attacking anybody, just helping the villains with clones of them and gathering people.
Other thing is that in the first page of his chapter, there's a guy in a suit standing in front of his apartment with his back over the reader, who strangely has a very similar haircut and bodybuild to Twice. Maybe actually Twice is beign used by an unknown hero/villain/company worker/CEO to get information about the League of Villains. Or maybe he will turn into an hero (replacing whoever in both Class 1A or 1B becomes a villain) or become an anti-hero, helping sometimes the good guys and other times the bad guys
I have a very vague idea about Twice, I've been teasing it a bit ITT but there's not TOO much behind it.
Basically, you know how Deku has a mask that covers his face completely, but he never/hardly ever fucking wears it? Well, if you had a vested interest in preserving the legacy of "Deku", and severe attachment to Deku as a "Hero" -
Basically you'd do what Iida did during the Stain Arc with the Ingenium Name
Or in other words I think Twice is an allegory. Fuck it, Todoroki is an allegory, "my two quirks". Ingenium is an allegory, "It's your power!" is an allegory, "Remember who you wanted to become!" is an allegory. It's all a fucking allegory, a message directed at a protagonist who doesn't even fucking exist yet.
Oh and here's the omake that came with the Databook. It's interesting.
By the way, JP bro, if you're not too busy, wanna check through this omake and make sure the translation's ok?
Remember when Bakagou told Izuku to kill himself?
Can y'all get the gist of what's going on here, or want me to go all autism on this chapter?
Alright, buckle up chuck. I'll try to have this done relatively soon - it all depends on how try hard I go. This chapter was really what kicked everything off.
what did she mean by this?
She just needs some baku-dicking
I wish Baku would dick me
Not to say there's no ground for this ship, because there certainly is, but I just don't see the way for Hori to stop the relationship between her and Deku from growing. Purely from storytelling perspective they both are already too close as hero and heroine of the story. And I think Hori cares too much about his story to just drop all the development like Kubo and not give a fuck.
why do they alway thinks that if a boy and a girl dislikes each other or at least they have some sort of rivalry they must end up together? RL doesn't work that way
What a bunch of nonsense. There was so many mistakes that I don't even bother pointing out because I felt like the guy who did this is a speedreader. I guess I can say good job on wasting your time.
I love this shit. Your autism is inspiring. Actually hoping Ochako inherits OfA now.
Well, if this theory of "ochako was the narrator" end up real, i can only see 3 endings, the vanilla one where she's reading it to her children/grandchildren while their parent "the symbol of peace" is out (like BT-X ending), she's a teacher at UA and read it to the students as a morale lesson, or she's reading the notes in a ruined city over a pile of corpses she herself killed after going batshit insane because of deku death.
This is the most retarded thing I have ever read, but I hope it happens just so we can all freak the fuck out about it. Regardless, I hope someone important (that is not All Might) dies this arc, otherwise this manga is gonna get more boring than it already is.
Why are there so few pictures of DekuxOchako? You'd think a practically canon pairing would have more
Where have you been bro, there's a whole doujin of them just having vanilla make out & sex.
To be fair, I think no one cares in their world, due to the Quirks being so damn common, duckpeople, dogpeople, catpeople being around and no one cares.
People cared a lot in the past, during All For One's reign. But now, I think shit like trans is just another meme everyone just used to.
>walk in a party
>get to the bedroom
>bomb boy not so tough after getting disemboweled
>mfw /pol/ finds out that the rest of 4chan doesn't share their awful opinions
Not yet, so she can be any colour you want.
Alright, analysis guy here, X gon deliver it to you.
"An Interview with Midoriya" really was what started this whole thing. It's really heavy handed. I'll upload to an imgur album later when I refine it all, but you should get the gist.
Shipping is what makes most folks not see this - Ochako clearly is enamored with Izuku because she's the love interest - even though Ochako will deny it, saying "it's not like that" aloud, or in her head, or both. The traitor stuff diminishes the Toga moments - "Oh, Toga is saying all this weird shit about trust to Ochako because Ochako is the traitor!"
It's all rather devious.
Incidentally Ochako's CQC from Gunhead is all about getting out of the line of sight
No.13 is almost definitely gonna play a huge role later in the manga, but for now Ochako sort of just cucks the shit out of him
Horikoshi when'd you learn english you motherfucker. That last fucking statement what the fuck.
If this turns out to be true, I dont know how I'll react.
You're either batshit insane or an absolute genius for finding these connections. Either way, I admire your autism, especially now since no one else is really making theory shit.
I don't get it. Some on explain it for me in 20 words or less.
Deku becomes a teacher who raises the a golden generation of heroes while Ochako becomes Bestest hero and something about Bakugou being the second best or some shit.
lmao what the fuck? nice theory dumbo
HEY RETARD THIS THEORY DOESNT WORK. KNOW WHY?
BECAUSE ITS ALREADY CONFIRMED AT THE START OF THE MANGA AND FIRST EPISODE OF THE ANIME THAT DEKU IS TELLING A STORY
A STORY OF HOW HE "BECAME THE GREATEST HERO OF ALL TIME"
DID YOU MISS THAT PART IN YOUR HIGH "QUALITY" ANALYZING YOU DUMMY.
ALL THE PEOPLE REACTING TO YOUR DUMB DUMB THEORIES ARE STUPID, LIKE YOU!
No it doesnt, it gives a dumb tl:dr on how deku will become a mentor who dies later with Ochako, FUCKING OCHAKO, becoming the greatest hero of all time.
Its stupid, its very stupid
Oh and giant red flags to watch out for in the immediate future
Ochako in any way coming across Eri. Since, you know, Izuku's origin is attempting to save Bakagou when All Might couldn't.
Sir touching Izuku when he goes off to save someone and looking horrified.
Toga(NB: This is a red flag for everyone no matter what the circumstances)
Also Tsuyu playing a role. Sounds weird, right? But Ochako saved Tsuyu in the woods in chapter 80, and then did her best to get her to make up with the class.
It's almost like he's living a brief, but wonderous life, blooming brilliantly for a short season and then scattering to the wind
So let me see if I understand this correctly
Deku is probably going to be incapacitated or else actually die, ultimately leaving Ochako as his 'successor' and the actual greatest hero?
Henlo friends, I didn't say I believed or approved of the Theorist Anon's post, all I did was answer >>154747271 who in their own words said, "I don't get it".
It's what I got from his theory anyways.
Anywho, night friendos, please read before posting.
Smart money's on "death."
the reasoning is that this is from deku's journal and other people wrote shit in there and how the greatest hero bit is from the start of the journal, not post-events.
At least that's what i got
Wait that image brings up an interesting question.
Deku has been built up as the mirror to Shigaraki through the whole manga so far.
If he is to die, what's gonna happen to shigaraki?
> Final chapter reveals new generation heroes reading the journal from their previous senpais who've gradated and become top heroes
> The title of the journal is called "My Hero Academia"
if the anon with the theories is here what do you have to say about this ?
>Wait that image brings up an interesting question about Shigaraki
Ah good point, Shigaraki. He has to be saved, of course, and to be saved he must be saved by someone who understands him. Something Izuku explictly cannot do.
I'd say you failed to look at the flashback right below that fucking image. Or read her shirt. Or what her dad was saying.
Or if somehow you're still not getting it
YOUNG OCHAKO SAYS TO HER DAD SHE WANTS TO HELP THE BUISINESS
OCHAKO'S DAD SAYS NO, HE WANTS HER TO FOLLOW HER DREAMS
YOUNG OCHAKO IS SHOWN WITH A SHIRT SAYING "SUPER" ON IT
YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SOLVE THIS
All for One could be just wrong, the mentor doesn't need to die for the student to become stronger.
I actually really like the idea of Ochako becoming top dog and Deku becoming a teacher/leader figure, but Deku doesn't need to die.
Fun fact: This is literally the only panel we have to work with. We've had Origin: Bakagou, Origin:Izuku, Origin:Todoroki - I count Re:Ingenium and Yaoyorozu: Rising as Iida and Momo's Origin. We haven't had Ochako's backstory beyond this one panel.
So no, we don't know why at a young age she wanted to be a hero. All we know is that she wanted to be, and her poorfag Father insisted on her putting her dreams about economics.
Also this is literally her dad telling her she can be a hero
How is it a reach?
>When I grow up I wanna help out the family!
>That's sweet honey, but what'd be even sweeter is my baby girl making her own dreams come true
It's just about as clear as day.
Of all things to focus on, that?
The heroes of Boku No Hero Academia say english words all the time, Plus Ultra, DETRIOT SMASH, etc, etc.
No muh Symbol of Peace
No muh save everyone
It could easily turn into "A real hero is someone who stays true to themselves."
Also Shigaraki telling Deku here ,the next time they meet will be when he dies, could actually turn out to be true.
I like your stuff, I don't think it will be true, but if it is it'd have been foreshadowed really subtly.
The point that mainly got me thinking was the bit with All for One gloating about Nana.
Still tho, the bit where Horikoshi talks about this series probably not remaining popular is 99% sure more a reference to how quickly all his previous manga got shafted by publishers.
>I don't feel like she's particularly heroic
After being stabbed in the arm, and while unarmed, she rushes an armed opponent to save a friend. She is plenty heroic.
This is pretty relevant considering what Deku is going through.
That's the idea, Izuku inspires her heroism but Izuku himself is way in over his head with his physical limitations.
He pushes people to be more heroic but he himself has a way too big hero complex for his own good.
At the end of the day would anything be more heroic than to inspire an entire generation of heroes, not through his power but through his character?
Horikoshi you mad man, OFA was a red herring the entire time
All Might also inspires heroism in others though, at least in deku and bakugou, you can say he's similar to him by inspiring others
When he got accepted even All might noted that it's a heroic action to spur reactions in other people using uraraka's actions at that time as an example
That crazy cunt got a little to rough with my waifu.
Ye but with All Might it's a combination.
He's both a symbol AND a hyper competent hero.
Plus everyone assumes he has/had the same reckless suicidal heroism Izuku has but we've actually seen very little evidence of this. (the mudman/bakugou scene).
The only times he put his life on the line is when there was nothing BUT his life to lose to do so. In last chapter's situation I wouldn't be surprised if he'd acted similarly to Mirio regarding Eri and the Yakuza guy.
Also of note, he was the most powerful being on the planet, he can totally afford to do heroic feats no one else can.
Deku commits to heroism in ways that cripple him and sometimes even put long term goals at risk, which is where the idea of him being an inspiration for a more level headed successor comes in.
I think the theory is still a far reaching bust but I think it DOES hold up so far, nothing directly contradicts as far as I can see.
In all seriousness I thought his ideea of becoming the symbol of peace was his own, since in the flashback gran torino is talking with her about how he wants to become a pillar.
He acted recklessly in his first fight with AfO when he got crippled 5 years ago though.
We dunno the exact circumstances but AfO said he went after him with his guts hanging out or something like that, which is suicidal if not heroism.
The only reason all might may have not been as suicidal is because he didn't get pushed far or had better control of the quirk once he got it
How did he "win" his quirk anyway? he was quirkless after all
It is his own, he's urged to remember where he started from by Nana.
And guess whose origin we haven't seen yet?
Win probably in the sense that he trained himself off to a point where he wielded it better than Nana or just after he completed whatever challenge Nana set up for him to inherit it since every other quirk is just something you're born with.
Also with AfO you could argue that he got reckless since he is legitimately the only person who could feasibly stop him. If he doesn't seize the chance to stop AfO, the world is lost.
And AfO has been displayed as a master manipulator, even someone levelheaded could be triggered by him.
It's fairly balanced, he's growing but he's still miles away from his goals, like he's still a kid in a world where adult experience is still the key separating most characters.
How was Deku inspired by All Might if he always wanted to save people? How was Todoroki negatively influenced by Endeavor if he always wanted to save people?
You're acting like the two are mutually exclusively. Real heroism takes place in the moment when there's nothing tangible to be gained. Young, and by young I mean four years old young Todoroki always wanted to be a hero - but Endeavor and his mom changed that.
Actually I'm gonna go fetch a picture of young todoroki to show you
Here we go. Young Todoroki wanted to be a Hero, and Izuku motivated him to remember who he wanted to become... and lost. Huh. Sound familiar to anyone?
Kinda fucked up when you think about how a middle aged dude with a big chunk of missing organs can use One for All without his body giving out while a healthy teenager who trained up for it can't do it without literally shattering his bones into pieces.
>reading aII of this shit
>somehow get hyped aIong the way at the thought of Hori outsmarting everyone
>mfw when I try very hard to shut the voice in my head that eep saying that Hori wouId never do these gIorious shit.
So Nana motivated All Might to think back to his past, to remember what he wanted to become but forgot.
Deku does the same here with Todoroki, and he'll do so with Bakugou and Iida.
Ochako(in Chapter 22) says she wants to be a hero for money, but the flashback we did see implies that at a very young age she did want to be a hero, since when she offers to help the family her dad says "I want you to follow your dreams instead."
We've had explicit origin chapters for Bakugou and Todoroki - no they're called Origin: Todoroki and Origin: Bakugou
Re:Ingenium and Momo Rising are likely origins too, since like all Origin Chapters they get a chapter and volume named after them
We've yet to have an Origin chapter or Volume with Ochako - not in the literal Origin: Ochako Uraraka sense or like Re:Ingenium or Momo Rising
Lol guess who just got back.
Anyway, I'm guessing the line you're asking about is "Uraraka: It’s like… you’re intimidating him because you’re scared and you want him to go away from you."
I would translate that line as "There's... something that scares you, and you're threatening him because you want to keep him at a distance." As in, because he's scared, he wants to keep Deku at a distance and threatens him.
I can redo that TL if you REALLY want to, but it gets the gist of things (though that's the only like I really examined).
Not really, their base personality has similarities but Deku's main trait, his reckless heroism, is the opposite to Shinji's weakness to the pressure.
If anything Shinji exists to lampshade how child/teen characters like Deku wouldn't really be able to function/grow properly.
Taking coloring or edit requests.
It would be great if the coloring request doesn't have a complicated as fuck background, some face closeup or a panel with the body of a character covering most of it would work.
Pic related I made this a few threads ago
Shhhh... Theorizing and making connections is exciting, even when it's never gonna happen.
All things considered Deku still seems to overall get rewarded for rising to the challenge, at least he's mentally growing overall.
But ye he's deffo a pretty realistic approach to a shonen protagonist compared to the average.
You know, that actually brings up something neat.
On the very first page, the narrator says that people are not born equal and that that's the hard truth they learned at age 4.
Now how old does Ochaco look in this picture? Why is she crying?
Not to say you're wrong - since when the narrator talks about regretting Stain you see this shit, but - well basically you'd need two narrators, which with a journal you CAN do but it's really confusing
Stain is also supposed to have a long lasting impact on the story. He inspires Toga, who so far has been the biggest pain in the ass for Uraraka, but I think the more important impact is how Stain "inspired" Shigaraki.
All this talk about two narrators, but whats going to happen when all of these get voiced by Deku in the anime. As interesting as some of the connections made in the theories are, they need some reworking
Is that a newer version of You Say Run?
Hey Anon, I'm assuming you're the one who was sperging about the "Jitsu" potential in Ochaco's name before.
I know we established that "jitsu" isn't 10, and that it means truth, we never did talk about the Rei in "reijitsu" (the normal reading of her last name).
Rei means zero. The O in her name could be used as a zero.
Rather than thinking of OfA going up to 10, what if we think of it as looping around and resetting to zero?
There's a number of ways that could be interpreted, but the only way I could see this theory working out in general would be if at the very VERY end of the manga, he kisses her before going off to the final battle.
He then dies in that battle before any of the OfA strength really has time to seep over to her.
So instead of having the power of 9 extra people (since the strength quirk is one that compounds more power into it over time), she has to start from square 1 with NO power.
You cheeky bastard I KNEW there was something there!
>All might's Legacy is destroy
>0-Chako has to start from 0
And to rain on the parade: Ochaco uses "watashi" as her first person pronoun (in both the beginning and the manga and as recently as the databook omake comic - I don't normally read the chapters raw, so I don't know if anything's changed since then). The narrator uses "boku", though (Not to mention this is BOKU no hero academia).
Do people ever change their first person pronouns over the course of the manga? It would be neat to see Ochaco's hero worship cause that.
Yep. It even uses "Zero gravity", in ENGLISH, for the reading for the kanji.
Though the kanji used in her quirk name is just 無, which means "nothing", rather than numero cero.
I'm the autist you're addressing - it's pretty clear it's Izuku's Narration for everything. Though what pronoun does Izuku use for this journal, number 13?
So guy who ripped the shit out of my terrible 10 puns before - you're pretty sure about this Re:Zero pun? What about that 日? To get the Re:Zero pun, do you have to ignore the 日 in 麗日お茶子?
Because "Starting from Zero" is very relevant to what I suspect Shigaraki's plans are regarding All Might and his legacy.
