The thing about Nagito is that even after DR3, he's still an interesting character to me. The anime didn't hurt my image of him. I can't say the same for Junko. The anime made me realize that she was best suited as the final boss at the end of the game instead of being a predominant figure in the show.

After thinking about it, the brainwashing shit seems like a result of Kodaka becoming too attached to DR2's cast and wanting to remove as much guilt from them as possible. Thus the brainwashing over Junko manipulating them using their weaknesses, insecurities and pasts. Kodaka wanting to turn DR2's characters into dindus also explains why Izuru only killed one dude in self defense in the StuCo killing game and the whole "he massacred them horribly" was retconned into Junko lying and twisting the truth.

Indeed. Also makes them look stupid now in how they're all "We must pay for our sins" when their actions were beyond their control and it wasn't their fault. The only exception to this being Izuru.
