So in the main story of the game you defeat the Cerulean Queen and then your player character becomes the director of Japari Park and then you work towards reopening the park.

I guess this rules out the anime and game being the same timeline given that it doesn't appear to be what happened in Mirai's memos. If anything it seems like Mirai lost and was either killed or abandoned the island.

If she was killed by Ceruleans that didn't happen in the game either Ceruleans just took characters "shine" causing them to lose memories and possibly end up in a coma. The Ceruleans also took on characteristics of those they took "shine" from.

Seems like the anime has changed quite a lot of the game at the least.

I assume that the time Mirai describes when she comes flying in for the anime is supposed to be just before the game as in the game Japari Park is recently closed too I believe. So if there were two lots of Mirai's story she would have left the island after the manga came back reopened the park then closed it again and left then came back again and then left again or been killed before the anime. Clearly the anime takes place after you lose the game, and don't defeat the cerulean queen, and either leave the island for good, or go into hiding in a bunker under the park.

It's obvious that Mirai was doing something very similar to the premise of the game, and that she didn't succeed. Kaban, as the first entity that's a human and also a Friend, is going to make the park safe for the Friends, and either rescue Mirai from the bunker, or discover her skeletal remains. Serval will get her memories of the game back, and it'll either be a Good End with her and Mirai reunited, or a bittersweet end with her finally remembering her friend.

So yeah the anime is a different timeline to the game. The games "bad end" route. They also changed quite a lot about Ceruleans for the anime too and seem to completely ignore the player character. We haven't seen anything like Japari Park central in the anime either. They've just taken the bits they want and gotten rid of shit that wouldn't work in anime or the story they want to do.

Of course we can't say anything for sure regarding anime canon, but I'd be surprised if it were any different. There are subtle ways they can improve it.

For example, South Park has a very cheap looking cutout style. If you compare S1 to recent seasons, you can tell it looks much better even though it keeps the same style and limited animation.

bigger budget doesn't always mean you have to go full Disney or hollywood on it.

They'd keep the format the same, don't worry about that. S2 from Tesabu came out unexpectedly fast since they never saw the first season get as popular as it did. So while they had an influx of funds the budget wasn't also there for a new season. Nevertheless they turned the whole lack of budget into another goofy episode, so all was good. And for S3, they just added more characters as a spin-off collab project. By then they almost surely had funds to go 2D or whatnot, but this style has it's charm. Also mind you, while KF isn't in MMD, that was. Yet you could still notice they worked their asses off on it considering the clippings were kept to a minimum. It would take a lot of work to make something as good as Tesabu was in MMD.
