Reminder that Ranma and Akane never get together because Ranma 1/2 was written to repudiate arranged marriages and the idea of parental interference in the lives of their children. You don't have to like it. You do have to accept it. Takahashi had a clear agenda with Ranma 1/2, and it didn't end in a marriage between two people that would be toxic to each other, because that was the point she was making the entire time. That entire debacle was never about Ranma and Akane, it was about Soun and Genma pinning their hopes on a hideous tradition and rightfully having it blow up in their faces instead of it being honored for the sake of archaic propriety that would cost the orchestraters of it nothing but devastate the lives of two people by having it imposed upon them.
