New Eureka 7 movies
>They did a direct sequel
Oh no. AO is not a sequel hat anyone ever wanted. It's not even set in E7's Earth and Eureka and Reton have the worst possible future next to having Eurkea die back in the original series.
Oh God please don't fuck up Anemone and Dominique
I liked AO until Truth. Such a stupid villain. And the childhood friend that went full retard on him. And bringing back Renton with Holland's voice.
Actually, I guess most of it sucked. I liked Ao as a character and the dynamics between him and his two teammates. And the OPs were good.
That's a Devilfish, anon. You can see a silver one in the same scene
Fleur got friendzoned? I don't remember that. I remember him shooting down the otaku girl and that awkward break up between him and his original girlfriend who went full skub (or whatever). I honestly can't even remember much of the series anymore.
Reminder that Dewey was right all along
I'm happy about this news, no matter what the people said i love E7 and Pocket full of rainbows, E7 Ao was a little weak but also enjoyable. Plus, Bones does a great work with Mob Psycho 100, so... i want this so much.
I see there are people in this thread that don't know that Ao just got a new final episode like a month ago, where they Ao hops through time fixing shit, like Elena's time jump, and the real Elena dying.
And at the end Fleur and her organization rescue him from the timestream.
No, AO as a sequel destroyed the Original. All Themes, messages, references, everything was just completely destroyed. It had a Literal Retroactive Cannon in it. Bones destroyed the Franchise. There is no way any further alternate Dimension where there is Skub can be safe from the simple truth "Dewey was Right."
be cautios, the movie was some pretentious meta narrative garbage, trying to comment on otaku and anime or something, and AO was some aborted attempt to take a show reference evengalion into a straight up copy.
is the original writer back?
the staff was the same, but the show runner left
>literally making 3 recap movies for no good reason
>meanwhile their best selling original anime property is turning 10 in less than a month and still no word on any new anime projects
FUCK YOU BONES FUCK YOU
>literally making 3 recap movies for no good reason
They're not recaps and seriously move the fuck on they were making shit up as they went along with Darker Than Black and gave up once they ran out of ideas.
>They're not recaps
Who cares. No one wants more E7. The original anime ended fine as is. Meanwhile DTB could use more material. There's still so much more they can do with that show and there's demand for it. DTB literally tops polls in Japan all the time for original anime sequels.
Reminder that they made anti-war PSAs using footage from a Gundam show. It was either Seed or Seed Destiny; can't remember which.
>Shou Aikawa has never written anything remotely good.
>Dai Sato didn't work on AO,
Yep he was too busy working on this masterpiece
I didn't say it's bad, I like it. The anime just isn't all that I expected from the fame. The story is interesting but really slow, and the characters are annoying almost all the time, especially Renton and Holland.
>Bringing in Germans to add new tracks
OST bought on day 1.
>Movie was meh
>AO was shit
I don't care, I want to be hyped for this shit. I'VE WAITED TOO LONG.
If I remember correctly, the Bionix segment only aired from about 8pm to midnight, only on fridays.
It was restricted to that 4 hour window per week to comply with the CRTC's regulations about how much non-Canadian content could air on TV.
FUUUUUCK I forgot about captain Earth!
I watched AO, don't have the slightest fucking clue what happened or why or why it fucking mattered.
didn't watch pocket full of dreams thank god.
Oh good lord please just let it die.
>Yoshida is too busy working on the G-Reco movies than to waste time on this shit
Can these studios please stop pulling out bullshit reboots/continuations? Thank God /a/ isn't going to be dumb enough to take any of these new cash grabs seriously.
Since when were these happening?
Nigga what is happening with anime?
Also, after the abomination that was Ao, I'm still worried.
It was ok, I guess.
Stupidly catching ED too.
From a recent interview with Forbes
>“In regards to Gundam Reconguista in G, there isn't any particular hope and yet there is a hope, in that I wished the Blu-ray release was of the complete work. To explain, we made the TV series but it wasn't perfected in terms of the content. So the fact that the production couldn't stop to include the updated content in the Blu-ray version is something I found extremely frustrating. Even in my position as the originator and producer, I didn't have the power to stop it whereas someone like Mr. Miyazaki is able to do so on his work. I found that really sad. In that sense, that's why I am now working on the movie version but I can't really talk about that yet.
>couldn't just get a slice of life OVA with the kids and happy things going on.
>Got Pocket Full of Rainbows and AO which were both trash.
FUCK, why do they keep making more content for this?
Why do they keep bringing back the suffering and the pain?
>movies include prequel to the series and an original ending
>tfw this could've been used for DTB to finally explain Heaven's War and Hell's Gate and then retcon DTB2 ending
UC has always been solid though, bandai has never been retarded enough to let anything too experimental that isn't super far removed touch it.
They never took the same care for anything else, probably because nothing else sells merch like gundam.
Is Eureka going to commit more war crimes against unarmed civilians?
Yes, and if this is any indication, Ray and Charles will be there too.
If I could hazard a guess, it will be a retelling of the show
that probably pulls some time travel groundhog day shit
>UC has always been solid though,
This is a joke right? Even Tomino is disappointed with what became of it and it doesn't help that Bandai is too afraid to branch out beyond the OYW
I just want more Fleur
I KNOW THIS IS BAD FOR ME BUT THEN YOU LURE ME IN WITH SURFING MECHA
What did he mean by this?
The mountain of shit people heap on that series is mostly undeserved. Truth IS a shitty villain, and Naru's character arc is more or less gutted due to an obviously rushed ending. Plot was fairly ambitious and ballsy, though. You may either love or hate the ending. While it is technically a sequel, the connections between the two series' is distant and convoluted, outside of Ao and Eureka themselves.
Fuck all you bitches. I just gonna sit here and post pics of best girl
They are two of the worst parts of the series. If you took away the 1 or 2 small elements of AO that made it "e7 related" it would have just been a generic mecha series.
Slapping 8 minutes of screentime for renton was just bastardizing the shit show even more.
Holy shit this man gets it
>Starts 10 years before original TV anime
Theyve added comments by Kyoda, Sato and Yoshida on the main website
Kyoda literally says he realized how truly loved the original series is and and wants to make something that can be loved again...
Sato says he will not betray the fans of the original series while at the same time still keeping it fresh for new fans.
we will see, but it seems they are aware of how well loved the original series is and how disliked the sequels are...
Anemone is literally the only reason to watch Eureka 7. That show did not deserve this Goddess
The only I appreciated from that movie was naked long haired autistic Eureka.
This semen demon better get more screen time
Guys I just thought of something.
Since the anons(who I assume are translating the truth) are saying that this is a prequel with an original ending
What if This is an adaption of the original intended route with the New Order ending? Or even the manga?
>prequel that shows the summer of love
>second movie, retelling of the original show
>third movie, end of the original show, and a final ending for the series that isn't retarded
Alright fags let's settle this shit http://poal.me/wd0f3r
I haven't seen AO in years and it was really shitty from the bits that I remembered. Did fucking Eureka and Renton really sacrificed their own son so they could live together happily ever after? Am I remembering this correctly?
Here's how you fix this shit.
The Ereka and Renton are legendary and "the first contact" etc etc. So they are written out and given a place of legend status.
Gekko state are surfers/freedom fighters who're just cruising around having adventures.
Dominic is the younger brother of Thurston that was with their grandfather on that island. He wanted to join the military in spite of his brother so that he could I don't know protect everyone from the evil corals.
Cue something fucked happening and his town being mostly destroyed. He finds the mecha ship that his grandfather was hiding/repairing and leaped in to save the town.
Cue crazy mindfuck stuff where he sees visions of the corals the world being destroyed etc etc.
He thinks it's a vision of the future of the corals destroying the world but we all know that it's basically a vision of the past and it was trying to tell him of the truth of the world.
He wins but the military comes in and tries to destroy him and the ship, becuase...apparently it's hardcore shit. They take his grandfather into custody and knock him out cold.
Cue him waking up with a pink haired girl sitting in the room. She's a bit flighty and cunty but she seems nice enough. He's smitten but he's also upset about everything that went on.
Cue him thinking that she's locked up as well he tries to "rescue" her and does a pretty good job of fighting an armed guard.
He's knocked out again though.
He wakes up to gunfire smoke and his cell door opening. His brother is standing there glowering at him. He drags him out of the place and they escape out of an adjacent window admist a hail of gunfire. He tells him there was a girl we have to go back. He punches him and says "Stop being fucking stupid we have to go"
End ep 1.
Cue brothers fighting, tall ho being a hot piece of ass but also being all motherly over the three orphans that she saved. The crew being them selves and Dominic learning the truth.
No he does that himself, however this month AO episode 27 was released in 5 parts.
It changed the ending so that Ao doesn't end up alone in a new world and that Truth becomes a Golden Nirvash Neo.
Kinda, they left him in the past because his older sister turned into stone after she was born..or while she was being born(had to be painful)...for some reason and they were terrified that he would meet the same fate.
It was just a clusterfuck.
>kills kids parents mercilessly in front of them
>claims kids as her own
What? Fuck, it's the opposite for me. Xam'd could actually use a remake to fix it and help it be what it could have been (albeit movies would probably not be a good format). E7 doesn't really need anything.
What? It says he is.
I'm scared to even begin to imagine the anime adaptation of it. Anymore I'm programmed to set my expectations to garbage just so I won't get my hopes up. Very rarely do I see a continuation/movie/reboot that is stellar and worth its salt.
If they gobble up wet shit like AO and the like then I guess I don't.
They better not ruin her SO FUCKING HELP ME IF THEY RUIN HER
You do realize you can fuck off back to /vg/ where you belong, right?
It's not like it's even that canon.
The show goes out of its way to create like 5 universes by that extra episode.
So the original branch where Eureka comes in and drops off Ao in west century Japan basically doesn't exist.
Pocketful of rainbows is more canon than Ao at this point.
I love her right before that scene, where she's just laughing her ass off thinking everyone has abandoned her and then turning around like that.
So dynamic and the perfect opposite to Eureka. The first series was so good.
Just don't accept it and make a mockery of the whole thing
if it's bad. How do you think most of us function here today seeing these reboots?
>Sato has literally been making nothing but kids shows since E7
>He's one of the few writers from that era that hasn't really debased himself completely
>been making nothing but kids shows since E7
I'll need to check out some of his stuff.
This could be a good thing.
E7 had a generally kid friendly atmosphere that was reminiscent of classic space opera/adventure shows.
If this guy's been working on children's shows he should have a good grasp on this atmosphere.
He did a fine job on E7 itself, and his episode writing is good. I trust him as long as he's being reigned in and not given full freedom.
>nothing but kids shows since E7 bar a thing or two
Not really. He's done three kids shows (albeit one keeps getting more seasons), and three other things.
> He's one of the few writers from that era that hasn't really debased himself completely
Oh, boy, you're one of those fags. Reminder that Ergo Proxy is worse than 90% of what you'd probably call "otaku-pandering" works, and Dai Shogun is worse than 99%.
>Pocketful of rainbows is more canon than Ao at this point.
This alternate reality crap is such an asspull. It's literally my most hated plot device in any story since it's used in the most retarded ways.
On one hand, more Anemone. On the other, oh god they're gonna fuck up my girl so bad aren't they? ;_;
I think Anemone is entitled to her own spinoff
>He did a fine job on E7 itself, and his episode writing is good
Nope and No.
>. I trust him as long as he's being reigned in and not given full freedom.
You trust him despite the fact that he isn't a good writer?
They have been neck and neck this entire time. Truely a question of the ages.
please stop. E7 is still my favorite anime. I watched it in one setting back in the days, fell in love with it, got fucking depressed it was over, rewatched it and still hailed it as the best thing ever.
Then fucking pockets or rainbow came along which was shit, but I could forget it, it was just a movie and I could place it as non canon
Then AO came along and butchered everything.
For the love of god, stop butchering my holy grail
I was prertt sure the scub coral thing was different though in E7.
Their consciousness existed inside some weird metaphysical realm and after the Nirvash goes into spec3 mode it replaces Eureka as the recording device or whatever and they head off somewhere else, but they didn't split up timelines a d stuff the way Ao does.
>There are people who marathoned AO after it aired.
>They will never know the suffering of trudging through the show when it was airing
>They will never know the feeling of having the show split cour because of Olympics
>They will never know the feeling of learning the episode is delayed until next week because the staff was literally making up the story as they go
Jesus fucking Christ. All that shit compounded how bad AO was. The threads were circlejerking to the max and there was too much speculation I didn't even know what was real anymore. I remember some anon joked about Truth merging with The End as a joke and when it came out true, I seriously thought the writers were just looking at our threads for inspiration.
I would really like Kawamori back on board for mecha design and to throw some random ideas out there, but after Macross Delta I'm not sure.
>>They will never know the feeling of learning the episode is delayed until next week because the staff was literally making up the story as they go
Oh shit, it was Gundam SEED Destiny level of bad?
I think that is what hurts the most about AO is that it had a solid start and then started to fall apart with Truth`s introduction and then completely fell apart once the retcon gun was introduced. I knew the show was utterly fucked once that gun showed up.
I want to hold her hand
while it's covered in jam
>Ramune is a good thing to drink with friends
I remember that fucking faggot offing himself in front of that old lady's shop.
Can you imagine the reaction of that poor old woman whe she discovers the decapitated body of that guy?
I can't HATE X'amd becuase it was honestly charming fun moving and it came along at a point in my life where I was in a really low place.
It just completely shit the bed in a lot of places but overal I thought it was okay.
I do hope that it gets a few ovas to redo everything from scratch. I really do.
>2. Ramune is a good thing to drink with friends.
What is it with Bones and Enokido and ramune? They and/or he have used it in RahXephon, Xam'd, Melody of Oblivion, and Captain Earth, and I swear the stores looked the damn same in at least some of these, too.
I think if anything, it showed that the original was really the work of Kyoda and Sato together, and without one, it wasn't the same.
The underlying influences, cultural, musical, etc came from them both, it was a weird thing where two creators were on the same wavelength to create a work that you could tell was truly genuine in nearly every way.
AO lacked that.
You can tell on the first 3 episodes where the characters were heading.
>Naru was the love interest and was going to help AO find his identity
>The Okinawan trio were going to have a bigger role instead of being inconsequential background characters
>The other Gen Bleu pilots were going to be Ao's friends instead of potential love interest and random batshit insane girl
Yeah, it was just there. Not great not bad, just something to watch and totally inoffensive.
Things I liked? The dark side of the moon reveal.
The mecha animation
The hacker girl
The delicious brown girl
A few of the bad guys were interesting
The director and his wife..
That was about it actually.
>The first 3 episodes of AO were good.
They weren't that special.
I just remember people going batshit because Ao took not-Nirvash's severed hand and bashed the enemy with it, but other than that?
It wasn't just Kyoda and Sato, it was Yoshida's influences as well since he was allowed on design meetings rather than just providing the show's look.
This seems to be a bit more like the original series. So long as they learned something from rainbow up you ass, and Astral oshit, this might turn out passable.
I honestly don't know why E7 has had so much trouble with sequels.
It's not like the staff is completely incompetent because they were behind the original.
And it can't be the series itself since its manga And game spinoffs are alright.
And for all the shit it gets Ao had a strong start and didn't start falling apart until staff started getting switched out.
I have no idea of any production issues Pocketful of rainbows had though.
You're right. Yoshida had a huge influence in the design and backstory of the world as well. I remember seeing images of some of the image boards he designed for the shows setting and background. They were amazing.
>>Naru was the love interest and was going to help AO find his identity
Eh. I`ll give Ao some points for not going with the obvious love interest since Fleur probably did win after episode 27.
I still kind of wish they animated Sumner's story because it was actually quite good and I don't think enough people are aware of that.
Lots of shit happened behind the scenes of destiny
The writer was the director's wife so she got away with a lot of shit.
She would purposely turn scripts in late so that other script writers wouldn't change the story.
She made Cagalli's VA cry and she has never voiced that character anywhere since.
The director also spent the show's budget on music and vacations.
>Staff is literally the same as the movie and AO
>Dai Sato, a man that hasn't been behind anything good in over a decade, is writing it
>I-i-i-i-its going to be good guise
Can't wait for those delusion threads again.
>>Staff is literally the same as the movie and AO
>>Dai Sato, a man that hasn't been behind anything good in over a decade, is writing it
Two sentences and you've already contradicted yourself.
It's criminal how she barely got any screen time in the original. They better do best girl justice
That was arguably there once they started introducing the remaining members and the audience realized they were foils to the Midsummer Knights. It's just that there no development of these characters other than their intro episode or how to resolve their differences with the MSK and fight against Puck especially when one of them had killed the main character's father. Instead the last part of the show got hijacked by Salty Dog.
I want to be hyped for this. But AO was hype and then it shit the bed. I heard these were to be compilation films at first, but now I hear it's AU again? Christ this probably won't end well...
How would you feel in Anemone was in the movies, and Dominic wasn't?
>look at me make up shit
Your autism is leaking faggot.
btw Ergo Proxy is average at best and features some standout episodes while at the same time not being an overall great work. Eat shit autist.
>The films will follow The First Summer of Love phenomenon that occurred a decade before the first Eureka Seven series. The anime franchise thus far has hinted at, but never depicted in full, "the beginning of it all."
Wow...its like making an Eva prequel about the first Impact. Kyoda sure is reaching for ideas.
The episode where Truth shows up was literally one of the worst episodes in the series. After that, it was all inconsequential boring monster of the week until Eureka shows up again.
FUCK YOU THAT MAN IS SAVING ANIME JUST GIVE HIM TIME
You don't know what you're talking about. The olympics happened right around the episode where Eureka showed up. It was literally no episodes for a good month or so. After that, the second cour had weird intermittent breaks. The longest one being the one leading to the final two episodes.
The cagalli thing is true though and most of Seed's money went towards its music.
Morosawa turning in scripts late + budget being spent on music and t.m. rebolution cameos was also apart of the reason a lot of the animation was reused.
AO had its timeslot for 24 weeks
The Olympics preempted the show for two weeks after episode 15
That meant they only got to episode 22 when their allotment for the timeslot ran out
23-24 aired two months later when they got a slot to put them in
The singer cameos are always exactly 3 episodes for the precise reason they would actually be expensive to use after that.
What you said about Shindo isn't even the same as the other sourceless rumour that is usually used, although it's admittedly less stupid.
She would have been fine if she hadn't been the MC instead of Hei, and hadn't had some shitty mahou shoujo sniper transformation sequence, and didn't have a brother or clone backstory, and didn't hang out with crossdressing faggots. What I'm saying is that she was cute but pretty much sucked.
So after running this article through Google Translate, it seems like the movie trilogy is basically a retelling of the original series with brand new animation and new scenes depicting what happened during the First Summer of Love.
They're also hinting that the films will have a different ending from the TV series, though they're kind of vague on that.
>They're also hinting that the films will have a different ending from the TV series, though they're kind of vague on that.
So they are going to animate that alternate ending of e7 that was recorded?
Well that sounds better than an out-and-out AU at least.
As far as a new ending goes, I wonder if they might elaborate on the Second Summer of Love? Maybe make it less of a shit-show that AO depicted? Or show Renton and Eureka reuniting with their family?
New Order was a rejected ending that the director has been trying to sell to the audience since the original show ended. The fact that only Hadena subbed it says all you need to know.
It's not, you see one of the places Renton stopped off as he was jumping through the multiverse, and he visited the Pocketful of Rainbows universe. Every living being in it was dead.
>Skub were all parasitic xenocidal monsters?
I don't think they were like that by nature, but it's been a while and I forgot the details.
But In the manga she came back with no consequences other than the wait time.
>Anemone and Dominique
They're literally the only reason I'm going to watch it. In a small chance of seeing them be cute together.
They kinda were.
They came to the world and the first thing the came into contact with were the coral reefs. Then it started to mimic it and overtake and absorb all life because that was both the corals nature and how they tried to interact with/communicate.
Humanity fought back violently so they thought OH you talk by fighting. So after most of the world was destroyed and devoured and a chunk of humanity dead it relaized that it was fucking up I THINK after it started to actually LISTEN to the people it tried to absorb. So it stopped and sent out human coral children like eureka to figure out humanity and see if they are worth talking too or if they should just absorb humanity and say fuck it.
But humanity had already forgotten, mostly, how horribly they were raped by them and went on with their lives while the coral children walked among them.
Yeah, basically the coralls are horrible monsters.
Wait a second, wasn't there some guy in some IRC channel like ages ago who said that he worked in anime inbetweening or some shit and said that there was going to be a new Geass and a Eureka project
>it's a holland punches renton in the face episode
>Can these studios please stop pulling out bullshit reboots/continuations?
Not studio's fault. Basically, the fund managers are not happy about funding risky new anime, and are looking for sequels of old favourites hoping that it meant more reliable financial return. It's just what one does in a weak economy.
I am so confused.
I don't suppose anywhere has these vignettes subbed, do they? Up on Nyaa or some such, perhaps?
They were made recently. In hindsight, perhaps to promote these new films?
Me too anon. At first.
Then it completely shit the bed, spat all over the original series, and presented a total clusterfuck of a nonsensical ending.
But up until that point it was good.
Only Naru and Fleur ever expressed a romantic interest in Ao, and that felt indecisive than deliberate on the part of the writers.
For shitty harem follow-ups to good series with straight-forward romantic development, please see Build Fighters Try.
I don't know. It seems pretty obvious that the three girl squad was meant to be his harem. Plus Naru obviously. There's a handful of sites like anidb that have them tagged as having a love interest in him.
Huh that's pretty interesting
So Ao ends up like Eureka stuck in an infinite time-slip, Jumps around 3 times and fixes the timeline(s?)
>Never met Naru on the beach other than as a ghost
>Elena being brought to the future by Eureka
>Real Elena dying
>Team Goldilocks is OK
And then the ending itself is GenBlue somehow knowing about Ao's existence in the timeloop(Eureka told them?) and pulling him out of the stream.
Also apparently the scub burst caused Truth-Nirvash to be reborn? Fuck knows where he's going, Maybe he'll show up in the new retelling or something
Eh, personally I just always saw them as a group of little sisters. That's how they came across to me. Not to mention they got retconned out of his life too, so...
One thing. Did they ever show Fleur's dad alive in the show? I mean it makes sense, since Truth got hit by the RetGun, but did they ever show him in the original finale? I don't remember him being there.
Originally the producer wanted Renton to fail. For Coralians and Humans to never unite, and for Renton and Eureka to be 'star crossed lovers'.
Its honestly a horrible ending, running counter to the entire series. I seriously hope they don't consider doing that ending.
