Back in ye olde dayes the "moeshit common denominator" formula hadn't been perfected. A lot of people complain that nowadays all songs, movies and series sound and look the same and they're right, but it's not because we've gotten less creative. It's because the people who make this stuff for a living have figured out what shits money and what doesn't. And whudathunkit, other than critics most people don't really value originality.
