I don't know. I've marathoned the first 20 seconds of the first episode and so far I'm not impressed.

It's kinda like a reverse shonen in the since it gets better as it goes on writing wise

But all kinds of anime have been referencing this series for the past 30 years. It's been popular for a long time.

I just started reading some of Part 4 on a whim despite not following the whole series. I never really had interest in it and caught some of the Part 3 anime on a livestream before which still didn't do much for me.

What I read of Part 4 was an absolute blast though. I understand why it's so enduring, it's some of the best, most entertaining battle shonen I've ever read.

By the way, is Jojo still battle "shonen" or is it seinen now? I don't know about the magazine it's in now and from what I've heard the series has continually changed over parts.
