It's a kakine thing but Kakine as he was isn't alive. The organs were kept running and the Kihara's forced it to make DM. It wasn't until later that a personality surfaced that wanted to kill accel. It wasn't the original Kakine, it wasn't even his organs doing it. Beetle and the thing in NT6 were just parts of a shattered psyche bubbling up to the surface. Mugino brings this up when she and accel fight him. It's not even clear if the Kakine that gremlin had was the original.

I honestly think Mikoto will end up with either Gunha or Accelerator. Gunha would probably be easier for the fans to accept. It makes sense on a personality level. However, her ending up with Accelerator makes sense on a thematic and plot level.

It'd make plenty of sense for her to fall for a guy that's to her taste. And no I don't think Gunha would be just a Touma replacement. I think she could easily fall for him for his own sake.

After NT9 fuckery, Touma is millions of years old. Which means he's older than any other human, therefore there is no one in entire world that could be his onee-san, aside from Othinus.

Misaka Mikoto was just as glory hundgy as the other Level 5s before she first met Touma and hated the idea of a Lvl 0 being better than her so much that she practically tries to kill him on a regular basis.

No. They needed a sappy story to make the villain sympathetic. In case you haven't noticed, every volume does this. It's not a sure thing that Index will end up with Touma, as Stiyl is actually in love with her and has an actual history with her. Mikoto has no interest in limp wristed guys like Etzali. Even if he's capable of being a badass once in a while, he's still the personality type that comes off as a skulking creeper who works better behind the scenes. She likes the hot blooded hero types that throw themselves into unwinnable situations.

Mikoto's interest in Touma is purely based on the fact that he was stupid enough to try to escort her away from all those thugs who were hitting on her. She was impressed by his bravery and boldness, but her pride and temper got in the way soon after. She lies to herself about wanting to beat him in a fight as an excuse to get closer to him. She put herself in those shitty situations with those thugs in a cynical attempt to make a connection with a person that she thinks does not exist. She was not prepared to find that he does in fact exist, and he's just as rude and uncouth as she is. The way they antagonize each other is a massive turn on for her.

Touma doesn't begin to notice Mikoto in a positive light until he sees her acting like a big sister to the clones. Even though Mikoto is younger than him, he sees onee-san qualities in her. This was reinforced in the latest NT novels when she has to defend her schoolmates from monsters and rapefugees. People who can't see the depth of their relationship really frustrate the fuck out of me. Kamachi puts in all these details and you guys ignore them because they are inconvenient.

Touma and Gunha are actually very different characters. Gunna loves fighting and dangerous situations, and likes to be the hero of the situation. Touma hates both and doesn't see them as a positive thing. This was cemented for Mikoto when he refused to take credit for saving everyone from the Graviton explosion.

Touma just doesn't see fighting as a good thing ever, which was probably a lot more palatable to Mikoto after the Sisters Arc.
