I honestly don't understand Deku's worry here. All Might chose Deku based upon the qualities of a hero that Deku exuded in a situation where everyone was frozen in fear and no one chose to act.

Deku passed whatever arbitrary qualification there was to being a successor. Sure, he may not have been at level "a million" but Deku has the right mindset and psychology for the job, one that All Mighy himself shares.

It's a shonen, there's zero chances for that, especially since Izuku is acting as a geniune hero.

My money is still on All For One, then he inevitably escapes alongside Stain and hundred of other criminals. Afterwards, AFO will pass his Quirk to Shigaraki and die.

Poor Deku. The emotionally mature reaction to this whole situation would be to feel a little disappointed that you were chosen on a whim, get over it, and vow to work harder to be worthy of OfA.

But he's just a kid, and a lot of what's been driving him just got pulled out from under his feet. Wouldn't be surprised if he's considering giving OfA to Mirio and giving up.

Obviously by the end of the arc he'll get over it somehow, but right now the kid must be feeling like total shit. His one positive quality - the urge to always rush in and save people - got him chewed out by AM's sidekick. Deku can't catch a break.

And this is where Sir just doesn't seem to understand AM and Deku. He couldn't understand why AM couldn't see reason and just retire. He saw Deku's urge to save the girl as arrogance. He can't understand that to these kind of people allowing those to suffer without doing something is something they just can't do. Even when it isn't the smartest idea allowing innocent people to suffer for your plan to succeed would be seen as a bad plan by someone like AM and Deku. Sir might be right logically but he can't grasp the intrinsic aspect of what being a hero means to his idol. Which also means that his decision on who would be most suitable for OfA must be taken with a grain of salt

Deku's heart was in the right place but he simply doesn't have the power or ability to back it up yet. Once he does, he can save everybody, but he's still very early in the learning phase.

It's like how if you see somebody having a heart attack and try to do CPR but you aren't trained to do it and end up cracking their ribs and doing more harm than good.

This arc will obviously be about Deku learning that good intentions are simply not enough, you need the skill too.

Mirio will die protecting Deku

And at this stage neither Mirio nor Deku can back that up. So once again, saying Mirio can't be a super hero because he made arguably the best decision is unfair. Even Deku failed to convince Eri that she could be saved he was too busy fumbling with his thoughts.

All Might is endgame, 100% capable hero that could do these types of things. Deku is 8% strength and not that experienced. Nobody can tickle the mantle of All Might just yet, not even the guy who solved more cases than him.

This is especially important because we don't know if Eri is really his daughter, because if she isn't then they need to call the police and take her away legally.

Why are Bakugo and Todoroki covered in bruises? Their combat skill wasn't what caused them to fail, it was shitty personality and getting into a fight with another hero respectively. In other words, their classes shouldn't be about fighting, they should be about heroic attitudes.

What are you expecting anon? Sir is shown to be a cautious investigator. He's not making a move until they have a case and any early action risks Overhaul going to ground and slipping away.

He's calling in another office to help and he's aware that Eri exists. But even in his stakeouts he hasn't seen any suspicious movement. Things aren't as simple as calling in the cops at this stage because they will either not send enough guys and get everyone killed, or they will muster their forces and we know Overhaul still has more of those darts so any heroes that show up are toast.

From the character's standpoint gathering more information is more important than blindly running in because of a single person. Sir still doesn't even know what Overhaul is actually up too. This isn't a black and white situation of heroics.

The previous chapter with Deku wanting to save the kid and Mirio being calculating about it clearly showcased why Deku was chosen and not him. Even his codename makes him more of a pragmatist than Deku, and AM chose Deku precisely because he leaped into danger even though he had 0 chance of saving Bakugou. Mirio isn't that guy, but Deku and AM are. Mirio would probably make for a better hero but not a better Symbol of Peace. I think this is what these 2 chapters tried to tell, and what Deku still doesn't get.

This is completely true, it was a huge series of chances that happened to coincide that made it so Deku met AM, latched on to AM, tell him he was quirkless, have the sludgeman get dropped then freed by Bakugou, have Deku see Bakugou in trouble while AM happened to be there and see Deku's actions. But it was Deku's actions that made AM want to choose him, there was no chance in Deku showing the spirit of heroism that AM valued by sheer instinct.
