Because they're small and static. If you've ever seen one of those life-sized anime girl figures in person you'd know they're already kind of creepy, and seeing one move around on its own would make you want to unload a shotgun into it.

Papermoon dolls do a better job, but they look less like actual anime girls and more like giant dollfies. Seeing one of them alive would still probably be terrifying, too - just imagine looking into a living human eye the size of your fist, among other things.

Furthermore, there will always be certain colours more dominant than others. You then draw and colour in your waifu. then Using this "locked" palette you can limit it's range if colour.

Guilty Gear Xrd had the same problem on the first release (Sign), where if you rotated the model in any pose it would screw with the looks in any other camera angle besides the intended one

This is my favourite and it's American.

I actually once tried out a system that simulated G-forces through inner ear vibrations. It was over 10 years ago (Siggraph '05 I think) and incredibly realistic but never hit the market, I think it was making people puke after a few minutes or something. Still, it shows that artificial sensory stimulation is possible.

The level of VR we want will never be mass produced for the average citizen. It'll be so expensive that only the rich will be able to afford it and they're not even the ones who need it.

if it's only made for the rich then there'll be no software for it. being rich can only do so much. it's not like there is a separate technology stack just for rich people. even supercars are mostly normal car technology tweaked for high performance.
