the "music video" parts ruined it. Very obviously shoe-horned in just cause. Without them, it would have had a more smooth pacing/feel.

the music video was great. most anime has no idea how to really use music, the use of Satie in Disappearance was really jarring and awkward, but in Your Name the summery and sparkling visual aesthetics were just waiting for an upbeat pop song to be laid over them.

just look in the archive if you don't believe me, pre-nomination announcement people would actually talk and discuss the film and it was mostly positive. now its just endless "gb2 MAL" or "muh plot holes" or "muh spirited away"

Personally I loved it alot, sure its not a perfect movie but what is anymore.

Just watched it on my flight last week, it was alright, just pretty forgettable.
