I really enjoyed TG, but RE is honestly just a mess.

I'm reading back to TG and early :re. The series started out 10/10 and slowly deteriorate over time. Seriously, there is such a switch in tone from the prequel to sequel that it's like they switched authors and shifted their attention to a different angle. Now the plot is spread too thin to the whole cast that there isn't much of a concentrated story like it did in TG.

Quality dropped. Quantity increased. It's all a big pile of shit now.

this one had a drop in quality since the Rue Island arc, which was a shame because the Tsukiyama Estate arc was the best fucking arc in the series

I feel like we should have had an arc between tsukiyama and rue/cochlea arc. I think that's where the drop really begins to nose dive it doesn't take a break, we could have fleshed out the black reaper, more developed flashback of arima and kaneki, what kaneki has been doing as haise(maybe) his relationship with the Q squad

This is what I meant. The idea of leaving things ambiguous to make the reader "think more" and the appeal of mystery came from talking to Togashi when discussing that Togashi purposely left Hisoka's past unknown to the reader to give him an aura of mystery.

Yeah, back in the original, Ishida used to wrap every arc up neatly in a satisfying manner, with every character involved given their just deserts.

Now it's just a mess that ends abruptly and gets a few chapters to settle shit down until we move on to the next big old fight.

We used to have so much character interaction inbetween large fights back in the original, but now we hardly get that, especially with so many characters coming together that should be talking/interacting but aren't.

What did we get out of the Clown arc really? Akira's healed, Amon's returned, and only one relevant character death that was offscreened for the keks.

I'd be happy if that was the case but sadly it isn't. So far every arc in :re ended abrubtly with an immediate timeskip afterwards without wrapping up anything. It's like a climax with no cooldown time.

Ishida shoudlve done like Horikoshi and just mimic some of the great aspects of his favorite mangaka(In Hirokishis case it was Kishimoto).

Mimicking someones style for the most part tends to fail.
