That's another reason I think Mirio encountered this situation before, and made the wrong decision himself. If he made the parent angry, it's not hard to expect them to take it out on the child later.

Though OH seems to have seen through it, and was going to kill Deku and Mirio had Eri not gone back on her own when he was about to take the glove off.

I wasn't saying he was a worse fanboy. More like he's just trying to emulate what he likes about All Might (the ability to save tons of people with a big sunny smile on his face) but without making it his own.

The problem is that since he hadn't made it his own, he has no idea what to do when faced with a situation outside the All Might playbook. He couldn't come up with a way to comfort Eri while placating OH on the fly.

Deku wants to be Deku now instead of just Mighty Boy. He hasn't completely found his own hero way yet, but he knows he wants to help people (and his conviction to help and forge ahead seems to be what he wants to do most, even if it overwrites common sense). He's also been made aware that he needs to find out just what kind of hero he wants to be.

Mirio on the other hand wants to be All Million, and seems to want to be the Symbol of Peace 2.0. But while he wants to save people, but it seems to be the more superficial "rescue people from danger" type without really thinking of the victims themselves. He needs to figure out if he wants to just be someone who superficially rescues people from danger, or if he wants to be someone people BELIEVE in.

It's an interesting contrast to see how they've both been inspired in their own way.

Based on a single situation where he was given direct orders not to engage a high profile target and potentially dangerous man. Yes, it's clear that Mirio has taken some cues from All Might but we don't know the extent. He's also been shown to have more insight into actual heroing work given his speeches during the sparring session, as well as having a stronger image of what he wants to do. Both are still trainees, but Mirio is the Senior in this situation, this situation might come down to him having been in a situation before where you have to put aside a victims circumstance in cases like this.

Again, you are making judgements on a character that we haven't gotten more information on.

Oh, and adding upon that: I think the problem is that you're putting way too much weight in shoot style and the "I am not All Might" bit. Everything up to now says it is absolutely essential to the world's stability that Deku eventually becomes functionally identical to All Might. The difference is that Deku was unable to accept his own individuality during the journey - him mindlessly mimicking All Might's every action when he inherently lacks several of his key qualities is what almost paralyzes his arms. He needs to become All Might conceptually so that the world accepts him as a new Symbol of Peace, his mistake was thinking the part about yelling SMASH and punching things really hard was the trick.

In contrast, Mirio is pretty much All Might 2.0 personality and motivation-wise and already easily one of the most powerful individuals on the planet as a high school student. Deku made it his life's purpose to be like All Might, Mirio already was. Whatever his purpose from a narrative standpoint is other than being Deku's foil I can't tell right now, but your whole interpretation of him being stupid and shallow strikes me as wrong on several levels.

You are being to nice to Deku here. Truth is, he is actually just playing at being a hero. Everything we have been shown about Deku, whether it be flashbacks, thoughts, what other people such as his mom and Bakugou and have said about -- even what the manga is currently showing us...

Deku is playing at being a hero.

He fell in love with the idea of being light All Might like other kids. However maybe because he never had a quirk when growing up he didn't grow into his own person and didn't develop past "I wanna be a hero".

When All Might met Deku he refused to even imagine himself being a cop or somebody else helping people... he even went as far as to grab ahold of All Might when the hero leaped away, putting himself in danger just because... he was basically an insane fan.

Don't forget that it was Deku that caused the mud monster to escape... he was the cause for the attack on Bakugou and putting other people in danger.

Even when he they went to rescue Bakugou they did so because Deku wanted to be a hero. It was because he felt he had to be the hero again.

Deku is not hero material. He is an otaku.

I REALLY dislike Bakugou. That guy is an edgelord and a piece of crap. But even then I find him to be better hero material than Deku is.

Everyone at the academy woke up one day and found that they had these amazing abilities. Most of them were doted on for these wonderful powers. Of course there are exceptions like in the case of Tsuyu who was bullied or Ochako. Generally, having power makes someone less sympathetic to those without it. That's why Deku's childhood is important. He knows exactly what it's like to be utterly powerless and surrounded by people who hate you. He wants to grow up, become a great hero, and fill people with the sort of hope that All Might (another person who grew up quirkless) filled him with. Someone born with a quirk can still be good, but comparing someone like Deku with someone like Bakugo, or anyone else born with powers, is absurd.

Another anon pointed it out but Deku's background didn't made him into hero but a hero Otaku and a slavish fanboy to All Might. Now he does want to help others but when I look at the series it's clear that someone who was born with, and had developed the skills to use their quirk would have been a "faster" pick. Deku's biggest problem this whole series is that he never spent the time to start learning how to use his quirk intelligently until Gran Torino. That's multiple shattered arms & Legs, broken fingers, and fractures all around. You would think that having super strength would make you want to learn self control and with the sole exception of his first Smash he fails to properly learn how not to use 100%. Even going so far as to use his fingers like ammunition at the tournament. And until his arms were reduced to chalk he would have kept on emulating All Mights Punches and not even thought to shift the brunt of the force to his much stronger legs.

Point is, Deku is way too fixated on being someone else and not himself and he's just started trying to eke out his own identity. He doesn't know what it means to be a hero outside the context of All Might. He drive and image of "hero" required that he confront an dangerous criminal with an unknown quirk head on. That is brave but also stupid.

Again parroting that other guy, why couldn't he have tried to become a cop and help people that way? The police don't use quirks in their work. He could have taken his desire to help others and went down that road and still met All Might and gained his quirk.

But not everyone knew how to use them and unless you are Shiggy or Ochako where you just have to touch something, you have to learn how your ability works. That's what makes Mirio so interesting. His quirk is "high skill ceiling, high reward" and forces him to really pay attention to how he distributes his quirk throughout his body. Know what other quirk requires that? One for All. If anyone would have started experimenting on how to distribute and contain OfA the best I would put my money on him.

Bakugou despite his attitude has trained his quirk to be as good as it is with no real help. His parent's don't have carbon copies of his quirk since he's a fusion of their respective abilities and he stood at the top of his class based solely on his own grit and determination. I hate to say it but Deku fails in comparison in terms of learning how his own quirk works.

Todo was closer to Deku, high power but limited because of application. He relied solely on Ice side and just like his other half he can't use it too much without hurting himself. But once he learned to accept his f(ather)ire side he became much more powerful and now it's just a matter of finesse. But for the longest time much like Deku he would go all out for the finisher and focused attacks weren't his specialty.


Those three I feel, have the right mentality regarding expanding and refining their quirks, as well as having quirks that require them to hone their bodies, that makes me think all three are valid vessels. But Mirio is touted as being the best not just because of his quirk, but because his character is one that resembles All Might. That's one of the reasons Night Eye scouted him

But I don't think having a quirk makes someone less sympathetic because 80% of the world has quirks. Growing up like Baku where you are the big fish in a small pond makes you an asshole

That's probably, definitely, completely wrong. It's up in the air if Shiggy knows about OfA - but it doesn't matter. Shiggy is aiming to fucking murder Izuku. Izuku is his next target. That's what this "You're Next!" page means. I mean shit, this isn't even really something you should have to deduce - there's two chapters in this manga where Shigaraki goes out of his way to have a one on one chat with Izuku, and Izuku just goes on and on about All Might.

What Shigaraki is aiming to do is wipe out not just All Might, but All Might's Legacy. And Izuku is next. Sir too, I imagine.

The shoes might be durable enough, but there are the laces to worry about. What about when a villain decides to grab them? Or when they get caught on something? Or if they come undone somehow? All those problems can be solved by covering them, sure, but then why not just raise them up a few inches too? If it's a magical super stretchy but strong material like that world surely has then you won't lose any mobility, but you'll totally eliminate the chance of someone slipping it off your foot while also keeping the laces closer to your center of gravity and thus better able to maneuver them out of danger safely. Boots are just the best way to go. There's a reason why anyone who fights does so in either boots or barefoot.

I have plans to make my own web comic one day. The hero's power is supposed to be like a muscle that grows as he uses it. I wholly intend to keep his physical changes consistent. I actually like this idea as a framing device for the narrative. It explains those moments when we get a narrayion All I'm saying is include that little line from Deku's mom or something and the image will be much clearer.

I like to think Toga'll turn into Deku, and then use Todo's autism to her advantage and convince him to actually do something bad.

Todoroki wouldn't think twice to help Deku if Deku said he was in danger. So if she sets him up to do something really bad, there'll be no way to say someone else did it because Todo himself WAS the one to do it.

And that'll be a HUGE blow to both U.A. and heroes in general, since he's both the #1 hero's son, and one of the most famous U.A. kids. Deku has OfA, but he himself isn't well-known enough to make a huge impact if he's accused of something (especially since he wouldn't really have been the one that did it).

Not to mention, in these cases people are normally focused on the perpetrator. How many people are going to care who told Todo to Do The Thing if he really WAS the one who Did The Thing?

My problem with her framing Deku is 1. that it's the most obvious thing ever plot-wise and 2. She's still working under Shiggy. Shiggy wants to destroy heroes as a whole. While Deku has OfA, he's still a small fry and throwing him in jail won't accomplish much. It'll be written off as him being a bad egg, while Todoroki (or even Iida) has a noticeable pedigree.

There has never actually been any evidence that she actually gets bored of anyone. The way she explained it make it seem that her stalker-love reached a climax where she drinks all the blood of her crush and becomes them. It never said anything about her being bored with the crush.
What is more likely is that when she starts living that persons life and becomes them, then she would no longer be pretending but would be faced with all the hardships and decisions of the person she transformed into. Which in turn would make life difficult... sending Toga on searching for another person she might imagine was living an easy life.

Toga doesn't really care. She might be motivated to help Shiggy since she could see him as a big brother type and friend, but unless things were fun or could give her an easy life she probably wouldn't do it. Her whole masquerading as Camie and getting Deku's blood was just something she did on her own for fun. Telling Shigaraku about it was just something she did because she wanted to share her fun with him.

He didn't send her off to kidnap Camie and take her place, but he must have mentioned something that made her decide to do that on her own (since most people don't get their jollies out of taking other people's tests for them).

Though now I'm wondering what Shiggy would want that blood for. I want to think it supports my theory given Shiggy's learning the power of friendship, but what else could the blood be used for?

In Japanese, people tend to use a person's actual name instead of 2nd person pronouns. So "Tomura will be so happy!!" could be used to mean both "You (Tomura) will be so happy!!" or "Tomura (someone who is not you, the person I'm speaking to) will be so happy!!"
