Only 17 chapters were transated to English. I've read chapter 18 and what a nice sutprise - Sendai arc was anime original but volume 3 ended on the same note as anime - yes, Machi decides to stay in the village and pretends to know nothing about the Internet. Natsu is happy.
Whatever, manga after volume 3 is still super interesting.

I couldn't finish the series. The Machi bullying started out as harmless fun, but gradually became very much unfun.

They tried for some anime original content towards the end with some stuff from a chapter where machi has a nightmare about the city stitched it poorly. In the process they fumbled some jokes, destroyed Yoshio's character, and screwed up the delivery of the last two scenes so badly that what was supposed to be a gag instead comes off as some creepy mind breaking of a little girl.

Japans anime boards threw an even bigger fit than /a/ did which blew up even bigger when in the middle of it the writer of the anime original content deleted his social media accounts and tried to remove the series from being mentioned on his wikipedia page.

Also that year there were a record number of bear attacks in the region the series takes place in.

I loved the shit out of the first episode. It was relaxing, funny, cute, the OP and ED were catchy as fuck, and Machi was hot. I thought shows like this was the reason I still watched anime.

But then this shit with that virgin bullying Machi started. It also had some pacing issues. I was worried and complained, but everyone laughed at me for being a moralfag (do you idiots even know what moralfag means?)

The show was not what I expected it to be, and I had to go on. I was sad, but it happens to most promising shows.

Then the last episodes aired. The butthurt was amazing. I didn't find the last episodes too bad, they only confirmed what I knew. But holy shit, the threads were on fire. It as actually amusing to see how everyone was ass devastated, about something I had pointed out almost from the start of the series. Who is laughing now, assholes?

I'd agree with you except this was an adaptation and people who read the manga dislike what the anime did with the bullying and ending too. The focus of the humor was taken off of Machi being an ignorant bumpkin and instead focused on her suffering while increasing the amount of said suffering. Then they completely botched the ending.

I seriously want to murder anyone who enjoyed this show, it was horrible from the first episode. Machi is CUTE! CUTE!

Thats not what happened. The script writer for the series was so ashamed and panicked from the backlash that he deleted a couple social media pages and tried to edit his wiki page to remove the series from his history of works (Well, technically "someone" from the writers area just so happened to try and edit his wiki page at the exact same time he was deleting his social media accounts).

Not everything has to be a fucking anecdote to help aspies deal with their bullshit issues. I would've loved a season 2 of watching Machi's cousin forcing her to get out of the sticks more often, and take on the world and break through her social anxiety eventually but aspies and their "feelings" fucked it up for everyone else
