What makes Shirou somewhat more bearable is that you know, no matter what he does, reality will eventually catch up to him and he'll find himself having to bend or break his own rules in order to fix things.

That's why the whole "helping people is beautiful and not wrong" has a nice sound to it, because even though he knows reality isn't so convenient and that he'll find himself betraying himself in many ways, he'll still try.
