Eva is subtle in it's characterization, but everyone dying at the end is probably the most clichee thing about the franchise, making End of Eva worse than EvaTV

It also exaggerated the characters and added drama, Shinji's issues with his father or Toji are nonexistent and his biggest problem is apparently jerking off to girls. It's not a perfect movie by any means.

The pilots get submerged in lcl and that gets in their lungs correct? I guess it's just an oversight but fluid in lungs causes a lot of problems. It's always bugged me for some reason.

One of the best motion pictures in existence.

I wish it still was like in the 90s, that the only way you could get to watch this movie was by actually leaving your house and finding a way to get a copy of a fansubbed VHS of it, because ADV and no other western publisher had the rights for EoE until 2002 or 2003.
That way, we'd have less kids who don't even know what Evangelion is other than rei and asuka, and just jump to some streaming anime website and watch EoE dubbed and then complain about how it doesn't make sense on the internet, as if their opinions mattered at fucking all.

One thing I always note about Eva animation, especially for the Asuka Eva Series fight, is how well they portray the weight and scale of these giants fighting, with them lurching around, recoiling from blade clashes, and shearing off huge chunks of the ground with their stomps.

Gainax has a history of working with practical effects in live action movies, back when they were Daicon Films. Evangelion is like watching a live action Ultraman in terms of battles. But yeah, the Eva series battle was made with the uptmost care when it comes to physics and colateral damage.
Eva-02 vs the JSSDF was also amazing.
