I waited and worked with other projects (mostly episode 16) while looking for someone to help translate the other documentary/interview not seen before. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone and had to resume my studies. Only had free time to resume working on Eva last December, updated lots things since then.

I also managed to get my hands on a copy of Evangelion 1st impression and I captured the animation scenes from it to add on the extra torrent. (Pic related) It is almost ready, I'd probably release it before the 720p version in the following months.

Thanks. One of the reasons for the delay of the Extras is precisely because I wanted to find people to help translate some material never before translated. But I was no luck so far. I'll have to release most of the material in raw. I was hoping to get some attention with this thread to see if someone could help out but I guess that won't happen. Evageeks was no good either.

I was thinking about making a separate torrent from the Extras for the 21-24. Because I wanted to Add the BD OA version, the Pre-Renewal Version, and the Archival version to have all effect different versions available. Since this would sum up to almost 8 gigabytes it might be worth doing it as a separate torrent.

Quality of all these promos is pretty low anyway, obviously from an interlaced SD digital master. I'll do some basic filtering and release it in 960x540.

Renewal is the name of the "remaster" (actually just a progressive capture with some few small animation fixes on episode 19 and 1) DVD's released back in 2003.

Revival is the name of the The end of Evangelion shown together with Death true 2 before it back in Japan in 2008.

If you don't want the minnimun details and the film grain preserved, my 720p version has plenty of enough quality. Eva is not very sharp so there is almost no extra detail on very few scenes in the 1080p version (apart from the grain, of course).

I have an awful hardsubbed avi version of it too. I wanted at least a raw version, but since Love and Pop as well as Shiki were both made on the dark ages of digital video, they are mastered in 480p and we will never see a HD version of them.

Sadly, Episode 16 film stock master was lost (even before the renewal DVD) and the version provided to us was copied from a low quality 480p digital master they had stored from an low quality blow 35mm inter-positive film.

It is not only low res, but has crushed blacks and terrible haloing. Many subbers attempted to filter the haloing and sharper it a bit, but it will never get close to the same leve of the proper 1080p scanned episodes.

Fussoir had the best filter-chain so far, but he didn't color and luma corrected the episode because it needed to be done scene-by-scene manually. I asked him for his script and luma corrected it manually myself.

However, I'm not very satisfied with my correction now that I look back at it. It still is the best filtered version for episode 16 we have so far, but the colors and crushed black looks back.

So I teamed up with a guy from Australia, armed with the excellent dehalo filter Fussoir made and we are working on filtering and color-correcting the original airing version of episode 16, that friend actually deblended hundreds of frames manually on photoshop and I have luma and color corrected all the scenes. It will look better than the current version we have of Episode 16.

In fact, most of the video editors I knew where very much the "Liberal-arts graduate" stereotype, extremely sociable, smoked weed, went to pubs all the time had girlfriends and lots of hangout groups. The new version is based almost entirely on the broadcast. There are some few scenes from the BD which didn't have crushed blacks that replaced archival footage that couldn't have the deblended frames cleaned out (most of which are pans), apart from that the archival version we are working on looks virtually as sharp as the BD with better colors and shadow detail. Although I couldn't clean out ALL yellow/green cast. The amount of green on shadows on the archival is ridiculous.

By the way, would there be any interest in a stand alone EoE and/or Death torrent later?

While I did get a solid 30k downloads a proper seeding on my release, I released this joined torrent because I was afraid a single Death or EoE torrent may not survive alone since I don't have proper ways of promoting my releases nor followers anywhere outside of Brasil.

So did I back in 2007~2009. I don't know, probably not. I have dig a little bit on some Anime communities looking for the PT-BR dub and ended up making some contacts and followers on evangelionbr. Seems much of the communities have shifted to facebook and the most influential subbers are the likes of Punch with worse than hadena-tier encode and translation, living out of flooding they dumb teenager leechers that visit their cancer website with advertising.

my idea was always if I made my own separated episodes 25' and 26', to put the japanese credits at the end of 25' with Thanatos (If I Can't Be Yours), and the english credits from the Manga DVD at the end of 26' with Everything You've Ever Dreamed. I think it may be out of place. It would work in Instrumentality sequence, since it's lyrics are about Asuka rejecting Shinji and the hardship of their relationship. While the end we see implies improvement in it. But yes, it's a shame it was just frown out. I would be happy to see credits similar to TV, but the with that red string across the moon.

Why? I'm not even fluent in Japanese. I only did that release because subbers were being slow and lazy and some guys shared the subs they did on /a/. I can only sub something if it has the Japanese script, tough It takes hours for me to check all the Kanji's I don't know with a radical dictionary. I suppose I could use the novels, but still, that would take too much time, by the time I was finished, someone else would do a better release.

And I was very disappointed with Kizu, I had been hyped for years patiently waiting for the movies to get a tetralogy not full of contents and eyecandies, but of fillers for money milking the fans paired with very low quality 720p master video that needed to be dealiased and dehaloed. A pain in the ass to filter properly.

I was still planning on doing a release for myself for Girls und Panzer with the AK subs and stolen TS from Commie without their cancer memes. But that only after I release the 720p version of eva and 3.33.

Girls und Panzer has already been done to perfection though. Perfect 1080p video, FLAC-2.1, with /ak/ subs. Look up Catar/CTR's release on Nyaa.

I was referring to the movie, not the series. That being said, that release looks too much bloated, GUP is 900p. You could probably have 95% of the level of quality of that release for almost half the size. Well, I have my own encodes for the series and the movie already.
