Frieza saga was all about Vegeta being an edgelord, jobbing, getting a zenkai boost, repeat.

Kaioken, Genki Dama, Kienzan, Oozaru... They really went all out against Vegeta. Even Yajirobe had to show up.

The Frieza fight was just le epic super form in comparison.
