Maybe bulking gyaru is considering some electronica?
This comic is written in AUSTRALIA! It's Winter!QC NOTE: It's a rare Thursday I'm called in for a consult at l'Hôpital, so I won't be here to keep the thread bumped for our wonderful translator friend and eventually our esteemed typesetter bro, and I won't be able to QC until after midnight. If anyone would like to keep the thread rolling while I bounce for the next 12 hours, that'd be appreciated!!

I was waiting forever for this thread. Jesus, OP.
Sensei putting in some extra work with Machio~

>>154377318
>every 2 weeks
I always thoughts it was weekly for some reason.
Oh dear
>>154377437
Sorry, the last month has had a weekly thread to get back on schedule. Everybody's all caught up now, returning to the regular 2-week-drops!
alsooh my
Machio's interest has been piqued

A mountain in human form.
>>154377722
Thanks, gains Hime is the best.
>>154377722
Thanks for the dump, anon.
Will I feel motivated to start lifting if I read this manga?
>>154377625
Is he trembling because he had to go all-out?
Also thanks OP
>>154379660
I don't know but I would do push-ups for this girl.
>>154377625
>that face
>>154377079
I think I already gave this manga a try when only a few chapters were out and for some reason I didn't like it. I am /fit/ as fuark so I wonder why I did not like it. Time to give it a second go.
>>154377277
>I was waiting forever for this thread. Jesus, OP.
So what's the manga about? I'm loving the character design. What am I in for?
Which girl do you recon is the biggest semen demon?
>>154383374
A bulking gyaru, a macho ojou ara ara, a boxing tomboyfriend, a Christmas cake sensei and a hyper-masculine muscle trainer pretty-boy they all appreciate going to the gym to learn the safest ways to lift heavy weights and put them back.
And underboob. LOTS of underboob. Very lewd.
>>154383574
Hibiki or sensei probably
>>154383692
.... This sounds fucking amazing. Thank you, anon, for showing me my future.
>>154377079
I still can't believe the author used to draw a violent battle manga filled with beefcakes and husbandos.
>>154383692
it sounds as amazing as it is
>tfw this manga motivated me to start lifting, and I've gained1kg
>>154377318
Urge to dick sensei rises
>>154386102
congrats
yeah right
>>154387905
well this part is true
theres this general consensus among most more experienced lifters to respect everyone who tries to get fit and encourage instead of mock them
>>154383145
Big muscle girl masochist and dom shota.
>>154377625
She found the only way into his life and pants - through pure strength almost equal to his.
>>154387968
Half true
People who are about healthy lifestyles and exercise it's true.
People who are trying to get swol and moan loudly while getting in that last set of dividends are usually disgusted by sticks and fatties.
Of course they are also juice heads 99% of the time. Get them off of that for a month and see how they feel.
manga artist sure fucked up on the squat
strain on knees is a meme and with such a shitty posture you'll fall backwards right away
>>154388182
roiders generally are more obnoxious but theyre usually very friendly too
>half squats
yeah I think I remember now why I didn't like it
>>154377452
The beef shows its fangs once again
>tfw been bulking for 2 years now
I'll c-cut soon guys, I swear.
>>154377452
>>154377473
Fat gyaru's geting some swole arms on her perma-bulk.
kay I like this part a lot
>>154388378
Yeah I have a friend that juices, and have only seen him rage a couple of times. Only one of which where it became an issue and he got destructive.
>>154388916
but he gets this part wrong
stretching obviously does not make you stiff and the reason why stretching decreases performance is because an increase in flexibility means a decrease in strength. like a spring that gets stretched loses power the body too loses power when stretched. this is the reason why the body auto down regulates flexibility because any unneeded flexibility is detrimental to your performance
>>154389032
high test people are less beta and sissified. so maybe that means they will rage more openly but that just means they actually express their emotions instead of hiding them, holding grudges, being passive aggressive and stabbing you in the back
well not gonna deny that some roiders are outright douches but most I know are very friendly
yuri is bad
>>154389144
Tore his mirror off the bathroom wall because he ran out of toothpaste and didn't have time to get toothpaste that day. A well of emotion that one.
Still the bad I would say outnumber the good, at least at my gym.
>>154389469
>Tore his mirror off the bathroom wall because he ran out of toothpaste and didn't have time to get toothpaste that day
okay thats just fucking silly
>>154377499
Does that mean they are OTP?
I think this is the first time the gym instructor physically touched one of his trainees and they are even holding hands.
>>154389144
Most people that I've met and seen in the gym have been best bro tier.
Where does the shitty "all /fit/ people are jerks and bullies" meme come from?
>>154389698
I have no idea
you are absolutely spot on, all the non-newbie lifters are brotier as fuck
>>154389698
These guys are a pretty good representation of gym bros.
>>154389698
People see you and make assumptions based on their preconceived notions. I've had people assume I'm stupid since getting fit which is always funny to me.
These measurements are silly. She's looking so much bigger breasted than just 80. Especially when you take in account that boxer is 74 and Gyaru 88.
>>154390473
she got no lats tho
I dont get japanese obsession over panties and bhw measurements. literally irrelevant information
>>154390571
panties are neat but 3 numbers are pretty pointless
What are some other good educational manga?
>>154390473
she got no lats tho
No clue what you mean.
>>154384945
>Used to
Is kengan asura over already?
Also theybonlynyace the same author not the same artist.
>>154391149
my 'B' measurement would be huge because I got sick lats m8
the only thing she has is tits so the measurement does not sound that unrealistic
keep in mind the perspective of that drawing
>>154380056
Not all out but he said he had to get a little serious
>>154389698
It's a myth that comes from the insecure and it's even perpetrated by organizations that aim to take advantage of such insecurity. See this for example: https://youtu.be/PdccUsn8N4Y
In reality people who lift are likely to be bro's because all the endorphins they get from lifting makes them happy people in general. Just take a walk in the park on a warm sunny day after a heavy lifting session, you'll feel elated as fuck.
>>154391795
I think most gymgoers are just bros in general and accept newbies because even the biggest guys had to start from somewhere and were once newbies themselves.
Love this manga.
>>154389698
Media portrayal. The only people who think that are people who have never met /fit/ people and just know the jerk jock trope you see on TV.
>>154391123
>>154389540
Roids can make some people very unbalanced, so things that should be blown off can't be blown off due to changed body chemistry.
That's also why roids carry an increased risk of suicide. When you come off them it doesn't just change how you lift, it changes how you think and it takes the body a while, if ever, to get things running back up to speed.
Roids are a choice, lots of pros and cons, but people should be informed about them before making a decision.
>>154391795
Planet Fitness is fucking horrible.
>>154394017
I think i have the stats book from that series.it was not very helpful
>>154394815
yeah thats why I dont roid
if there were no cons Id probably take them but I dont even drink wine during social events so all kinds of drugs are a no for me
>>154394862
There's a reason they're a joke to the entire lifting world.
>>154394862

The translations in the link don't have all of the chapters. Is there another place to download it all?
>>154395907
batoto should have them all but the cancerous site they are they want you to make an account and log in
thats why I read them non-newfags know where
>>154395907
also, I just checked, the manga is also on kissmanga so read it there
>>154395971
Did you have a stroke during that last sentence?
I'm about 99% sure this series exists just for the chocolate muscle girl.
>>154388533
To be fair, this is one of the few authors I've seen from Japan with some level knowledge of bodybuilding and lifting at all. Even if he doesn't get things right 100% of the time, his heart is still in it. I wonder if there's a way to give him feedback about Danberu.
Plus if nothing else, if it motivates you to lift, at least it's a step in the right direction.
>>154395895
I didn't believe it until I saw a video on /fit/ a year or two ago. I honestly thought it was an over the top joke about how crazy they were.
>>154396210
>his heart is still in it
yeah and this is whats most important. I respect him for that
>if it motivates you to lift
I hope it motivates someone. lifting is great, everyone should do it
>>154395895
Lunk alarm videos are like fresh made salt water taffy. I never go looking for them, but I'm always happy to find them.
Did their blog die?
>>154377079

>>154400992
>>154399692
It's a viral marketing ad for a shitty energy drink. That it made it into the NYR comic just goes to show how bereft of inspiration /fit/ was through 2016.
>>154384945
Author is still the same, that manga is still ongoing (in the same publication). But it's drawn by a different artist.
>>154388378
>>154388533
Author isn't Matt Rippletfingers. Just because you go ATG at Mr. Milk's recommendation doesn't mean Japan believes in it. Besides, in that same chapter, he ENCOURAGES it, but simply says as an aside that you don't have to if you are afraid at first.
It's past midnight, OP here!
I don't see TL has visited yet, so I'll post a bit to bump but I'm going to bed soon! Please keep the thread alive until TL shows us the love!
>>154389144
>but he gets this part wrongHe's literally taking statistic data from the University of Zagreb (and other agreeing universities that specialize in sports medicine). You can say he's wrong, but he has at least 3 universities that directly poll, study and graph these stats in research papers that he's pulling this research from.
Just saying. Yabako looks this stuff up. He loves to study all things like this. The omakes and extra pages from Kengan Asura that the artists likes to make literally depicts him as constantly studying how the body works, watching fights, wrestling, sports events and researching before outlining the fights in that manga.
>>154403821
>implying I go ATG because of some random meme man's recommendation
I go ATG because that's the way to do it and it also feels much better
>>154404009
did you even read past the first sentence? it would have become clear to you that I was speaking about the left speech bubble, not the right one
>>154404010
I also work really hard at leg day in that I come up with unique excuses to skip it fairly often.
>>154404094
leg day is more difficult and energy consuming, especially because I do not just squats but also deads and leg press
but still I love leg day, its just so much fun lifting heavy ass weights. whenever I take more than just 1-2 days off due to whatever reasons I usually restart with leg day even when upper body is next in line
>>154404213
I primarily lift to look good, and I don't really care what my legs look like. They're proportionate enough that they don't stick out, so I keep doing it for health reasons but I take no joy in it.
>>154403924
Just got back from the day. It's late so I'm going to bed. But maybe tomorrow if thread's still up
>>154404288
pic related is you
>>154404494
Like I said, I do the bare minimum to keep proportion. But I don't enjoy it the way I do a good chest day for example.
>>154404470
QC here, no worries! My biggest concern is that you find the chapter! I have all the faith in the world you'll do your thing and post or create a new thread when you're up to it.
Never any rush, I always appreciate your work. Also, it's nearly 2 am by me and I've had a long day so I, too, am going to bed.

Or maybe gyms are like this in Japan.

It might explain why gyms are expensive as hell there.
>>154407048
They do, but you have to live in the suburbs. Not the country, or the city, but a depressing place with few trees or tall buildings, just white paneled houses for miles and miles. And tiny malls here and there.Send help

>>154406895
It doesn't fit (get it?) this manga at all.
>>154403821
Does Rompletoots even recommend ATG? From what I've seen he advocates low-bar squats, and you don't really go ATG on those.

>I can now read this without feeling like I should get off my ass instead of reading manga
>>154406712
>fear of the free weights area
wot
>>154413197
We only have one squat rack and one bench press. I feel like everyone is staring me down. I have the social skills of the average /a/ user, senpai. Probably even worse. What when my form is shitty? What when they make fun of my DYEL weight?
>>154377411
MUH
>>154413596
Just go early as fuck. Thats when I would always go. Hardly anyone is there, and those who are at the gym at 4 or 5am are all about business and don't have time for bullshit.
>>154414397
I can't. It opens when I go to work and it closes at 2200. I already go at 2030, so I don't see how I could go during a better time. Changing gym is also out of question as the next one is like 20km further away and I already drive 8km to my current one.
>>154414436
Eh, that sucks. My last gym was open 24 hours a day; it was super convenient. Anyway, if you feel unsure at first that's fine. It can be a little intimidating for someone who is new, but don't let that hold you back. Lifting is a good way to stay fit, and can be a fun, sorta zen experience. Give it a go, m8. You don't have to be brave, just fake it.
>>154414505
I think I just have to do it 5-6 times and the fear will be gone. Just gotta muster that courage. The gym is usually super empty at around 2130 but not completely, so I should try it out near the end.
>>154414543
Yeah. Give that a go. I used to hate swimming, had a few bad experiences as a kid, but eventually I got tired of sucking at it so I signed up for a course. By the end I was jumping off of the high dive with no problem. First time was rough, but it was all downhill after that.
Your plan sounds solid, hope things work out for you m8.
>>154399692
You tell me, Big Guy.
>>154414592
>Your plan sounds solid, hope things work out for you m8.
I was too afraid to go to the gym at first to and have almost no problems anymore. It should be the same for the free weights area and bench press is literally the worst there. Once I manage the bench press, the rest will be easy.
>>154406895
Wel it is set in the same world as this, so you never know.
>>154377625

>>154415974
Well, she is main and first introduced heroine of the series. It's only fit-ting for her to get his... muscles.

Hibiki does weird things to my dick
So many chapters later and she is still the most attractive to me
>>154417583

>>154417607
>Hime > Gyaru
They're both pretty great. Of course, one is rich as fuark.
>>154418049
Her being rich doesn't mean much to her best girl status.
>>154418095
? Being hyper mega outrageous rich like her adds to it. She's loving, doting, ara, supportive, hot as all Hell, smart, healthy, fit in living-diet-lifestyle-body-mind all the qualities of the perfect woman...and oh yeah she'll inherit prestige, class, social standing and enough money to take control of the nation for 7 generations. Not that she cares about that, she just wants to be a good person, and as a result, is.
>>154418615
She could be the poorest girl out there and I'd still take her miles over Gyaru.
Gyaru for fugg
Boxing girl for chill
Hime for waifu
>>154420990

Anyway, I'm editing alongside you! Loving it!!
>>154377079
>no gains Hime to lift with
End me.
>>154411219
Look man, I'm mostly just there to look good and get some health benefits. As long as my legs look passable I don't really care if I can squat a truck. I'll do my requisite leg days, skip them once in a while and hate them eternally.
I will never understand people who actually enjoy leg day.
>>154436669
Twisting, lifting with your arms, sure.
But power. Real power, that comes from your legs. When your legs are strong, solid, like the trunk of a tree...you feel powerful. And girls love your ass as much as your chest or biceps. Maybe even more, you know.
>>154436750
Again I don't care about my functional strength. I look pretty damn good and that's the goal. And I squat often enough that my ass looks alright as well. Depends on the girl though in my experience.
All I'm saying, is that one day in a week has to get skipped, it's probably going to be legs.
>>154436817
>Again I don't care about my functional strength
Having "enough" for aesthetics, I understand that, you've already said that. I'm telling you, once you feel REAL strength, you'll remember how much was "enough" and think "I was holding myself back." Especially when you're 30 or 40.
Get strong. Get big and strong and safe and do it now while it's easy to grow and lift and run and swim and eat. It gets harder, it takes longer and you'll lose it faster when you age. I dunno man, the strongest guys are always strongfat and I think that looks like shit. I'll keep my lean muscular figure and keep improving at a steady pace. I get the impression you think I'm some young buck but I'm 28. I've been at it for a while and I have a body I'm quite satisfied with.
I appreciate the advice regardless though. Always nice to talk to a fellow lifter.

Arm Wrestling
How to do it
The arm wrestling that all you guys love(?)
Did you know you can reach the next level in regular arm wrestling if you learn arm wrestling techniques?"
So which muscles do you use in arm wrestling in the first place?
The Biceps Brachii? The Triceps?
Too bad.
Those aren't the only ones.
The forearm, the upper arm, rotator cuff, back muscles, and the lower body
So in other words, you're working out and utilizing every muscle in your body [Emphasize 'every muscle in your body']
>>154377390
The proper Arm Wrestling posture
[Labels, going right-left, up-down] Grip the bar with the opposing hand
Shoulders are parallel
Try to line the elbow dead center to your body
Stomach is touching the board
Put the leg that's the same as your wrestling hand forward
If you remember the proper posture, you can effectively use all your body strength.
Proper form
Only arm strength
This may be obvious, but there's a sudden advantage compared to fighting with just arm strength.
Also, when you bring down your opponent's arm down
Using pure arm strength won't be enough.
Bring it down with all your weight at the same time as your arm!
Also, never ever look away from your hand until the match is over! (It can cause serious injury) [Emphasize 'look away from your hand']

I'm with ya, I'm barely older at 31. And I agree about strongfats. I'm also a cardiologist and I can tell you the amount of food strongfats eat leads to all sorts of problems despite the strength. I WHOLLY recommend staying lean and watching what you eat. Ultimately, your diet is the most important, even more than lifting.
Stay lean. Get strong. Don't wear out your joints, keep strict form and low impact cardio.
So, is it a good idea to switch over from machines to SS just for a 4-5 months and then proceed with a different program? I feel like I will only be able to bench like 30kg and don't get me started on my squat weight? I have trouble doing 30 without weight.

WATCHING...
[Afterword]
Man, Mutallone's so cool!
Let's follow it up with "Mocky" and "Danbo"!
[Ultimately, it became cult-film appreciation meeting.]TL: Mutallone: Probably some Kengan guy again. Seems like a reference to Stallone.
QC: It's definitely a Sylvester Stallone reference and I read KA and I don't know of an arm-wrestler or a "Mutallone." Given the western audience, something like "Mallone" or "Stellone" might be better, but this is a Japanese manga, so there's no need to go further with the joke. I vote leave it as translated.
QC: Also, the other two films are certainly "Rocky" and "Rambo." So I changed Mokky to Mocky, and I changed "Over the Top" to "Over the Tip" for simplicity. But I think "Danbo" should stay "as is" since Yotsuba! fans will appreciate that as a reference and hopefully still hear the homonym despite the "n" instead of "m".
And done! Another fantastic chapter translated with incredible knowledge and focus!

>>154444919
If you're a beginner then probably. The movement is very similar after all.
>>154441703
the manga really completely changed at that point
okay lemme continue
this is bullshit. starvation mode is a myth. to lower your maintenance caloric demand noticeably you have to lose significant amounts of active tissue. just eating less does NOT lower your metabolism
and of course you rebound when you resume your old eating habits that got you fat in the first place. yeah no shit. the point of a changed diet is to maintain it for the rest of your life and endure for at least a couple months when your body has changed its habits and keeping your diet will take no effort or willpower any more
but yeah I like the manga so far
my opinion on lat pulldown is mixed
Id say its a good exercise but I personally only do it occasionally. I prefer chin ups, pull backs (something similar to rows) and lat iso rotation. trains lat ROM more evenly and lat pulldown is kinda tedious and redundant
I wonder when they will finally deadlift. it's maybe the best exercise there is
this is true
women literally can't get that muscular no matter how rigurous or long they train. even as a guy when you stay natty and dont have very lucky genetics, you really can't become "too muscular"
this is a terrible excuse my lazy fatasses
REEEE
this is fucking bullshit. deadlift is one of the safest exercises there are. to injure yourself during the deadlift you have to fuck up big time
bench press is by far the most common injury cause of the big 3 yet everybody loves to do the bench press but many people avoid deadlifts
so stop the excuses and deadlift
I noticed repeated BCAA shilling in this manga
don't take BCAA it's a waste of money. or rather only take it when you are an endurance athlete such as marathon runner. then it will slightly increase the time till you reach fatigue
as an anaerobic athlete aka weightlifter you will get no benefits from BCAAs
the only supplement I'd recommend is creatine. it actually increases your gains a bit. apart from that HMB especially when you're cutting because it increases muscle retention by a lot and in a meta study was listed as the second of only two effective supplements (below creatine) of dozens of supplements. all other supplements have little or no impact on your gains and are a waste of money in that regard
if you want to get additional supplements, instead of BCAAs how about omega 3, multivitamin, vitamin d and maybe even things like magnesium. if you know where to buy them they are dirt cheap and the multivitamin I take is not just a shitty regular one (dont get normal grocery or pharmacy multivitamins, theyre shit and overpriced) but one adjusted to weightlifting with dozens of other things in it
>>154449008
let me add here that everyone should take creatine whether you do sports or not
dirt cheap and increases your overall energy. was even shown to increase brain function a little bit particularly in those with insufficient natural creatin intake (vegetarians) and increases the effects of anti depressants among many other benefits
now to pic related
what they refer to here with "golden time" is the so called anabolic window, which is a wrong myth.
there is no evidence post-workout nutrition raises muscle protein synthesis, muscle tissue protein breakdown is only an issue when fasting and glycogen (energy storage in muscles) does not need to be replenished right away
so this is pure bullshit
dont get me wrong, I still like the manga or I would have dropped it by now. I just want to correct the mistakes
GOTTA EAT BIG TO GET BIG
>>154389698
This right here, I started two months ago and all are pretty fucking nice.
>>154448729
Are bench pressing injuries proportionally more common than deadlift injuries or are they more common because the bench press itself is more common? While it wouldn't surprise me if shoulder injuries from bench pressing are more common back pain is generally worse than shoulder pain.
>>154448729
Back injuries are real and painful.
I cant let this one slide
3% is ridiculous. most people underestimate bodyfat. already 10% is extremely shredded and 7-8% very unhealthy. only dead people reach 3%.
>>154449337
you make a good point of course but bench pressing is proportionally more common as well from what I have experienced anecdotally. many people get shoulder issues and there are also elbow or wrist injuries. of course deadlift injuries, albeit rarer, tend to be more severe. however, take into consideration that deadlifts are the best treatment against backpain that probably exists, better than any medication or operations
a somewhat close friend of mine got dislocated disk from deads tho. he has genetically weak back and he chronically overtrained, lifted too heavy and had shitty form. but he recovered from it within a year. shoulder injuries you sometimes can't recover from. unfortunately I have shoulder issues myself
more bro science
dont do cheat days. consistency is key to maintaining positive habits no matter what you do. cheat days kill consistency and make it much harder to maintain a good diet
kekd
important point
both free weights and machines have different pros and cons and for optimal results you should do both
>>154377411
>>154377648
MAAM can't keep getting away with this!
Seems someone in here likes to comment on the more exaggerated/entertainment value of this manga instead of it being a biology tome. I'm glad you still like it enough, though. There are ways to justify, or debunk, all the "myths" but giving out options and keeping people safe is good for motivations. Also, dead lifts lead to snap city if you do it wrong, everyone knows this. The author explicitly said dead lifts are a dangerous exercise "when done without proper form." I don't think a beginner's muscle training lewd manga is gonna start suggesting 2 pages of cute girls saying "LIFT HEAVY WEIGHT BY PULLING IT OFF THE GROUND, IT'S A BACK EXERCISE!" That'd get him cancelled.

>>154454802
>>154454802
Good to hear you're getting some core work in! Planks are deceptively easy and surprisingly taxing for how simple it is. Doing planks is definitely going to grant you strength and firmness in your core and back and arms and butt and even legs. I'll say, while you're increasing strength and endurance to your abs, maybe even a little size...the definition or "getting slowly visible" is 90% loss of body fat: your calorie count is the big key on that.
Abs aren't like biceps or chest or glutes which grow big and fast when you lift in short heavy bursts. They grow very little and very slowly and require training from every angle. Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym.
Is there a good deadlift tutorial? I don't want to kill my back.
>>154456790
Your first month of deadlifting should probably be with a trainer/lifter who knows what he's doing and what to look for. Reading about and performing are different things.
It's not bad at low weight, but spinal injuries are bad news. /fit/ might love to talk to you about deadlifts, though.
>>154457458
I'm an /a/ level autist, how do you expect me to have a trainer or lifter? So I can't do it?
>>154457531
Oh you certainly can, and you don't need to pay someone or something as a "trainer." Just that effective deadlifting is with max weight possible, not for reps, and that should be done once you're comfortable and proven to do it safely.
I'm sure a simple search of "How to Perform Deadlift" on youtube even should help. Let's see.
Goggle immediately tosses you to stronglifts so that's a good start

>>154391795

compound movements + cardio
I lost around 30lbs and it builds muscles too, especially if you're beginning.
I say this because before dedicating to muscle building, you want to cut, and then go for a bulk if you want.If you don't know what are compounds, they're exercises that involve more muscles than focusing on one, like deads, bench, overhead press, push ups and many others
t.former fatty
>>154459543So if I'm not mistaken swimming is a good compound muscle exercise? I've heard it effectively trains all your muscle groups at the same time.

Consume fewer calories.
WHAT you eat is technically unimportant when it comes to weight loss/gain.
Eat all the broccoli you want; it ain't gonna match up to the Snickers bar you should have avoided. Water is wonderful! It's great for your body and you need it! So stop drinking 2 L of Coke, which is really bad for you.
Stop drinking alcohol, especially beer or wine.
Stop drinking soda.
Stop eating candy.
Stop overeating.
Doing just that will probably help you lose 20kg and add another 15 years of your life alone.
>>154459635Yes
also, don't worry that much about eating, just make sure to get enough protons, and not overeat. drink plenty of water, less salt to your food. You'll discover new things as you go, if you're serious on your improvement
remember to eat 80% healthy & 20% up to you

Based on personal experience I kind of want to recommend making sure your core is where it needs to be first. I struggled with back pain for a long time and when I finally went to a good physical therapist he told me I have an irritated disc in my back because my transversus abdominis isn't supporting my back properly. Try looking into some transversus exercises (because I really don't think people talk enough about it)and working on having good posture both when sitting and standing to start with if you're worried.

The dead lift isn't super complicated. There are tons of videos about form on youtube, and tons of websites that talk about it.
You can video yourself from the side to see if you're keeping on form, and you can always ask for comments on the video by showing it on /fit/ and asking for a form check.
Start off with light weight and concentrate on form, then progress your working load by 10 lbs a session. You will be OK so long as you are not in a hurry to do the lift and forget your fundamentals, just the same as any other lift.
I've decided to bump this.
>>154449483
>>154449337
I don't think deadlifts are the best treatment for backpain.
I heard swimming is more safer and better for you if you have backpain.
So how long should one rest if, God forbid, you overtrain? I had to take a week off from my usual routines at the end of February, because I could feel my body just losing strength all over, and I was feeling tired, aching and just miserable as fuck, no matter how much effort I put into it. I've gotten back to it now, but I still don't completely perform at my peak, so I was wondering if a week off was really enough to recover?
I wish that this series would cover overtraining too at some point. It's an important thing to consider.
>>154456790
I think /a/nons should start by walking one mile a day instead of building muscle so fast.
You also have to consider cardio when you start becoming muscular.
Also, remember that Cartilage wears out as we start aging.
Consider Low Impact Exercise.

>overtrain
Nebulous word. You'll have to define that term. Broken bone? Torn ligament? Sheared joint? Loss of consciousness? DOMS? Dehydrated? Slept in too late?
The symptoms you describe doesn't sound like over-training. It sounds like under-eating, actually. It's fine to relax the pace if you feel that tiredness is from movement, like your endurance is waned with a lowered upper-limit. After all, "over" can mean "warm-up" to someone else. My suggestion is discover the cause of you lack of motivation. Working out doesn't necessarily make you feel pumped at all times, nor does it guarantee overall mood improvement (rather, erasing depression). But when you have ENERGY, and energy comes from what you take in, all the healing has something to use.
>How long should one rest
If it's injury, until it's healed. If it's emotional, until you're stabilized. If it's because you're tired, weak and not "feeling it" then it's once you've evaluated how important lifting is to your life. Is it important? Then don't stop. Ever. Not so much? Dial it back.
Healthy living is good diet, good movement, happy decisions, challenge yourself with manageable goals. That's drinking lots of water every day for your entire life. That's getting up and being active, safely. That's deciding to relax and play as well as make friends with good people and learn different things and more specific things. That's pushing yourself to save $1,000 this month instead of spending it and to give up an addiction that has little merit to your well-being.

I think that was the anon's point. Eat low calorie, dense fibrous food and they won't go to bed hungry feeling. Unlike eating a snickers bar that is tiny but has goddamned 200 calories for nothing a sugar rush to crash on. Or drinking bubbly syrup fluid thinking you're quenched.

No broken places, except some minor complaints from my back the last time I did squats with free weights. I didn't check my form that time. It's just that my muscles felt so completely worn out and drained, and like, burning during the worst of it. I just couldn't keep going anymore. Definitely some sort of fatigue.
My caloric intake should be in order. When I started a few years back, I was 213 lbs. I'm now at 233 and doing pull-ups with this weight no problemo, until recently.
I hope this mango gets an anime

If you're paying for health insurance, have access to free health insurance or live in a nation that provides screenings for free, make use of it! Go get checked out! No harm, right? Doc could find out you've got a tapeworm, or the flu, or AIDS, or cancer, or blood pressure problems, or or or or or you could be totally fine and you need a vacation!
>>154471597
That means bi-weekly, silly head
>>154477975
It's a tough call. Bi- can go both ways (that joke came out by itself) but you're right, bi-weekly is proper. "Every other". Bi-weekly is "set a day, ever other week it comes out" which this is. You're right.
>>154476703
If it does we still have a long road in front of us unless it's anime original. Not nearly enough material yet.

...I've seen a lot of manga discussion on this board of people casually saying "anime when." Things like Dungeon Meshianime never, plsand I couldn't help feel like my insides were boiling.
...but this manga, when it's got another volume, I might actually think that's pretty great.
1 Season, 6-12 episodes. How long are episodes? 18 minutes? 20 minutes? This manga could be split in half, per episode. After episode 1 or 2, one chapter per half.
Title cards with the chapter art, opening and endings of the girls showing their hobbies and backgrounds and Machio happy at the gym.
The commercial break hits, there's a couple different bumpers it runs through:
1) Hibiki eating something
2) The Silverman's Gym girls exercising (doing a lift, cycling, toweling after a shower, something like that)
3) Machio in his tracksuit smiling, clothes bursts apart and he starts poses with a completely unchanged face as the girls dead-eye
4) Sensei rummaging or hiding in her cosplay as Akemi, Ayaka and Hibiki are out on the town
Returns back to the episode, but it's a new chapter - a new lift. Maybe some episodes are the longer chapters like the school festival or character introductions (Ayaka's introduction, Sensei's introduction).
Season 1, done. Easy to animate, easy to fill time since you have to do reps and that's an easy 15-20 seconds there, lots of reaction shots, lots of easy environments to draw and the LEARNING and the CHARACTERS are what drive the show...not the plot. You learn, you lewd and you love the characters and their personalities. Fans start clamoring for more. That's not a bad idea. I'd take a Danberu anime. WHEN IT'S READY.
>see everyone trying to gain weight and build
>meanwhile I'm a 230lb hambeast who loves fast food
You guys have it easy, you get to eat to be healthy

>So how long should one rest if, God forbid, you overtrain?
I can help you out
when you realize you overtrain how about you take 2-3 rest days and then keep training but at decreased frequency and volume? cut a set or two from your heavy lifts and take 1 more rest day than usual. that way you keep progressing instead of completely falling out of the rhythm and you should recover not much slower than completely stopping (which as you see does not work too well). just don't go back to the rhythm that led you to overtrain, at least not without fully recovering first. try this and adjust depending on how it goes
lots of bro science around overtraining but I have experienced it myself. and if it were to happen to me again this is how I would deal with it
dont listen to the other replying anon. its tl;dr and doesnt seem to take you seriously
>>154480406
I really hope this doesnt get an anime. I just dont see it working out well
there are many other anime Id much much rather see being made
>>154481410
its your own fucking fault and choice that you are a hambeast
go start lifting and stick with it. will be the best decision of your life. during times when I train very intensive, 4-6 times a week, my maintenance is almost 4mcal, I can eat a fucking shitton which is great
>>154481410
>easy
Who has it easy? Did you say I do? You think muscle just grows on you without literally tearing yourself apart hour after hour day after day week after week year after year and that because you CHOOSE to pay money to take time out and go to do it? And then, to make that strength look good, too, we refuse beer and fries and candy and cake and shrink portion size of that wonderful food we want so much? I got baited.
You guys should be careful about exercises involving the foot. Like take care of your feet, seriously.
Even professional athletes with access to the best sports doctors end up retiring early due to foot injuries.
It took me 6 months to get my right foot and leg back to normal after straining my right foot by stomping too hard which required me to avoid leaning too much weight on my right foot and also daily rubs and massages since the muscles on my leg all had a tendency to feel sore and seized up.
The risk becomes greater the more heavier you are and I learned my lesson.
As for why I was stomping, it had to do with Paranoia.
At the peak of the Zika Fright Scare from the media, I discovered a Mosquito flying in front of me and instead of doing the smart thing which was open the car door and just leave, I decided to use my right feet to stomp that sucker dead and in less than a minute, I had already kicked and stomped the glove compartment 6 times and something that resembled mosquito paste was found on my shoe afterwards.
It didn't hit me until later, that I had fucked up my feet because only around 9PM that night, I started feeling pain in my right feet and it felt like everything was sore all over.
Luckily I didn't have anything like bruising but I must have injured some major nerve or muscle in my foot because for the next 6 months, my right foot and leg just didn't feel right unless I massaged them.
I even went and bought one of the most expensive foot massages on the market and the only one I believe that is FDA approved and certified.
https://www.medmassager.com/
https://www.medmassager.com/content/medmassager-foot-massager-mmf07
https://www.costco.com/medmassager-schedule.html
Costco was doing a special event promotion for them and I ended up buying their combo package which includes the body massage as well.
It was cheaper buying the massagers from Costco. Also, don't buy from Amazon since the Seller currently doesn't sell the latest model
>>154482586
Yeah, anyways the point of my post is like take care of your feet because if you don't, you might be required to fork out like $299.95 in cash for a foot massager.
I could not afford to go get Xrays or see foot doctors/sport doctors whatever so I had to make do with buying an expensive foot massager because rubbing the heel of your injured foot with just your hands isn't good enough to help soothe everything inside your heel just only the top of your heel and I needed a foot massager to really loosen everything up.
And yeah, used this bitching ass expensive foot massager for 6 months and my right foot fucking finally went back to feeling normal.
I don't even regret the purchase at all since it feels nice to get a good foot massage everyday.

Thanks, bro. Yeah, I've been taking it easy for the past week and a half now, pretty much what you suggested, since I'm not too keen on breaking my places. Just that the lost gains bug me. I've clearly taken a step back here.
Keep lifting, bro, and let's muscle!

Protein, man. Beef, chicken, cashew nuts. And hit the weights. If you find a sweet plan that works for you, you'll start seeing results in about a year. This manga has already shown nicely, how to get started. Also, check out the Arnold Schwarzenegger golden six-program for beginners. It's a start.
>>154483591
I tried doing SL 5x5 and Rippletit's beginner guides but I eventually stalled just before lmfao1pl8 squats. I don't think I was eating enough or being steady enough with my workout sessions/resting.
I'll look into Arnold's guide though. thanks anon.
>>154483591
>>154483639
Remember you need to include fat with your protein as well.
You could die if you only eat protein. It is called protein poisoning and it was discovered when people started dying from eating only rabbit meat all the time because rabbit meat pretty much contains no fat.
>>154481943
Are you saying I should just lift instead of doing cardio at the gym? Won't that make me a fridge?
Whenever I'm at the gym I can't power through excercises. I can either do the exercise just fine or have to quit. There's no such thing as
>last rep face
I can't do that. As soon as the fatigue kicks in I'm done, no more last rep.
Is that a common DYEL problem or more of an eating one?
>>154458971
Dear god, her smug makes me cum
>>154389698
itt. most people on /fit/ like to banter and shitpost online but don't dare show their power level IRL and are polite normal people.
>>154389698
>Where does the shitty "all /fit/ people are jerks and bullies" meme come from?
It's like the fox with grapes. Some people don't want to lift but are in denial because of it so they twist their reality until it fits them.
>>154474822
Obviously depends on what kind of back injury you have. I'm not supposed to lean forward all that much so I do front squats and no deadlifts. Straight-legged deadlifts is the worst exercise I can do right now for example.
>>154484274
If you're doing 8+ reps, you've got room for one more.
>>154474822
The most common is overloading your lower back because of having no ass. Either way, balancing your development out by training the whole damn thing is obviously gonna help you unless you're fucked at a skeletal level already.
>>154484274
Are you just starting out? Training doesn't just make you stronger but also better at squeezing out that last bit of effort. If it's a big problem you can lower the weight and do longer sets for a bit to work on your endurance.
