it's amazing how Toei managed to do something as horrible as Omega S2.

Fuck the power levels, a better question would be, how do the special moves work?

Watching the anime and reading the manga, it was never clear to me what's supposed to be "real" and what's just there for visual effect.

Some like Hyoga's and Shun's are easy to understand, but Shiryu's for example, is he actually materializing cosmo dragons with his fists? If not, what's going on? What does the attack look like without the visual effect? He's just punching? Same for Seiya, I can understand he's punching really fast, but the attack seems to have range, so does that mean he's shooting small energy balls along with the punches or is that just a visual effect?

Kiki, Harbinger and Fudo were the only legitimately good new Gold Saints in Omega. Genbu was a huge asspull. Ionia had a good backstory but he was a huge jobber. Mikene had a great design but he was an even bigger jobber. Schiller and Paradox were ridiculous-looking jobbers. Tokisada and Sonia were basically fake Gold Saints.

I guess Amour was also fine for an antagonist even if he went down unceremoniously to show off Kouga had turned evil.

Like someone already said, Toei and Kurumada are well aware the Gold Saints are what keeps their figurines selling out as well as a big impact on the video games too. That's why you have two canon spin-off/side-story manga that focus on the Gold Saints primarily (first is Aiolia, second is Shura).
