Moonlight was the first cure shown in the first scene of the first episode. Everything was leading up to her regaining her powers and joining the team. It was something built up over the course the of the entire show. Heartcatch was just as much Yuri's story as it was Tsubomi's.

Well, I certainly would place Heartcatch in the second half of my Precure rating right now, but you should give the praise where it is due.
Fights in HC are one of the best in the franchise. Erika, who I dismissed initally as stupid meme character, is the one of the most relateable Cures. Soundtrack is quite good, even if opening and first ending are meh. Supporting cast is nice too, even if it could use more Ban-kun.
And movie is simply awesome with its setting and progression, especially compared to other movies.

Heartcatch was quite good if you were expecting a rather standard (or even bad) Precure season. I mean, we had just gone through GoGo and Fresh at that point. It also has a lot of good points compared to some rather generic magical girl expectations.

It might not be impressive if somebody was looking for something more comedic and less plot-heavy, if they were looking for something which stands out as exceptionally different, or if they have some exceptionally high standards for anime. Let's be honest, here. There might be something you missed which would lead you to really enjoying the season, although it is probably more likely that you are just looking for something that wasn't there in Heartcatch. Nothing wrong with not liking the season.

The eleventh season is the best but it might not be a good starting point. I'd say start looking at some episodes of the first because it's SO COOL that you'll probably just get hooked and watch them all in order. The thing about these shows is they're all very predictable and stick to the old cliches very tightly but they're addictive anyway. Fighting bad guys never really gets old and neither does cute girls daily lives. At least for me. If you don't like the first because its too old or whatever, then how much do you like cats? A newer looking one with almost as much cool and cute cats is maybe a good first one, number eight, with a cool octave theme in the henshin that fits nice with the music theme. Top left pair of cures in pic related are the main two in that season. It's pretty sweet but not as fun and awesome as eleven.

Okay, I finished Heartcatch.
It was okay season, but I think I would've enjoy it more if I watched it first or at least not right after Fresh.
Well, Erika was great, but I couldn't bring myself to care much about Tsubomi and Yuri. Especially the later. Villians wasn't that good either.

Max Heart, Suite and Mahou - which should I watch next? Continuing with Suite might be logical way, but I sort of want to watch Mahou, since it is talked about here quite a lot.

Suite isn't as good as Heartcatch. Getting into details would involve a lot of spoilers about the season, but one of the biggest concerns is that the major promise of Suite (two previous friends who are fighting, but need to work together as Precure) gets resolved in the second episode. And nearly every other conflict between them either gets resolved due to being a misunderstanding, or just handwaved away as "best friends fight all the time, because they understand each other so well." That's kind of a problem with Suite overall: it loves presenting a big dramatic situation and then dropping it immediately by the end of the episode or beginning of next episode.

Honesty, Suite isn't that terrible. There have been other seasons I just stopped watching because they were worse. (Doki being the most noteworthy.) It's just a weak cliffhanger loop that I'm frankly tired of seeing, and it happens a lot in Suite. Also, hard to get into the stakes of the season for that same reason.
