Kill la Kill is not a good show, it really wasa not, ita boring and tries to pander way too hard. I dont get how it gets so much love, its perplexing. This isn't really an edgy opinion but it needs to be said.

KLK isn't a bad show it just kinda slows down and gets off the hype train about half way through the series and then gets back on it weirdly. If you didn't watch it with /a/ and enjoy they hype/shitposting that went along with each episode it takes it down a bit.

It kinda suffered the same issues TTGL had in a sense.

I'm with you guys.
Only thing Trigger is good at is character design. And well soundtrack for their shows are more than decent. And the fact that they do original stuff.
But the writing always suffers. I don't even know why they don't hire any good writers.
They always try to go with over the top stuff but its gets stale after the hype of the first few episodes.

They can do lengthy shows properly. It's just when they do so well establishing the characters, and then go about "trying to show a deeper darker side" of the character, the story and progression goes to shit. Trigger shows aren't about a deep character, most are generic as you get but just watching them be a badass is fun sometimes. Not "let's put a break on the action to slow it down with a depression arc of the MC".
