It could ultimately be neat, but the pacing is wacked.

It either has a big cool twist or character reveal in the next couple chapters, or this is gone before chapter 25.

I hope MC will eat a frog at one point. Maybe after Owl does something to piss him off and he kills it, but it won't respawn in time to frog from the enemy. Or maybe just does it in a crazied state.

Akashi was pretty based until Trash Bin (school arc) ended though.

I really liked everything in Trash Bin and the first Mana game (sky jumping with edgy glasses guy), but Demon Island (muh super abilities) and Portrait of Hell (entire final game) were horrible. Card game was also pretty good, but the finale really dropped the ball.

Mana was a mistake, freckles shota was better.

You're forgetting that Asians are very different psychically. They view themselves as a part of society first and after as individuals. A Western person who has it tough sees himself as a guy who has it bad in a world where a lot of assholes have it good. That's why there are only three types of villains in (semi-realistic) manga: the crazy outcast, the Yakuza who is a part of the organized criminal society, and the sociopath who can exist both in the normal and criminal worlds. There's barely ever your normal Western casual criminal who's a normal guy outside of criminal activity.

And then there's also the thing about manga artists being mainly autists who are completely disconnected from reality, especially where youth is concerned.
